SFV Lounge: Makoto is coming for sure. F2P definitely. RIP Pertho's doggy

To what are you referring?

Some random post in the SF5AE facebook group. After the FGC was fractured into multiple avenues, a lot of other cultural mores went with it.

Preemptively apologizing by beating somehow doing the same shit being oene of them.
“Do it til they show you they can deal with it” is badically FG strategy 101.

Facebook is trash.

But yeah I’m definitely that guy who will do the same thing over and over if you show you can’t deal with it. Depending on how funny it is i may apologize and laugh though.

So you’ve been laughing at me this whole time?

Facebook is handy for keeping up with family and friends. You also get to know how donkey headed they are.

The fracturing of the online community has been a rough issue though. But thats just high level nerd stuff to talk about.

Nah lol when I spam against you I’m trying to teach you certain things or break certain habits.

Example: me spamming Chun f.mp like 8 times in a row last night until you learned to deal with it. Then I mixed it up with other buttons. Before i spammed you it seemed like you were hitting buttons with high startup randomly right in front of me, but after you seemed to be more cognizant of my options.

It’s the same thing when I walk straight at you without for like 2 or 3 seconds. I’m trying to teach you to put out more buttons and stop backing up so much.

True, but he has Alex wake-up, and loses tools for getting knocked down.

So between that and his V-trigger, things get extra swingy in an already swingy game.

Lmfao… I’m the exact same way. You can’t play SF against someone till they know what to and NOT to do. Otherwise it’s just monkeys hitting buttons waiting for a confirm.

Believe it or not, sometimes when I’m doing that it’s to be sure it doesn’t work, as opposed to me screwing up.

The core of the backing up is just using an unfamiliar character I think. I don’t have a great feel for the buttons and push them at ranges they don’t work…

This also relates to your comment about Kolin feeling better. She is probably the one character I’m pretty comfortable with the spacing on (mostly).

I do appreciate the beat downs and advice. As you said, the best way to learn is usually just to get clubbed with something until you adapt.

Yeah that is my favorite kind of stuff and I like that G has a good chunk of it. Feels like there is a lot to learn and explore (again relative to this game). He has a surprisingly decent pool of things going on that you need to be mindful of but can also exploit.

In my rough and shitty experience that seems like the right approach for the Guile MU. I was watching 801 and other GM Gs in that MU and part of it seems to be the usual Guile game, but lvl 2 FB gives you a way to periodically contest in the plasma war. Lvl 3 is of course ideal but vs Guile it seems like it isn’t worth it giving up pressure midscreen so you’re most likely building Prez in the corner if you can get there.

All of that carries a heavy * after it because I have had zero success in that fight so far.

Also, spam against me all you want. I was playing almost entirely with Gram last night anyways.

If anything I deserve it.

I worked on Karin a little bit last night. I’m gonna give her another go. Need to polish up the Tenko just frame thing though.

it’s not really about his AAs and fireball as much as it is his design inherently punishes you for not prioritising momentum, like sure he can play fireballs and neutral but at lvl0 you’re just hurting yourself, so you want them on the floor asap.

I finally get on and there’s more than 400 posts!!

I like EC’s response though lol

Can’t believe the amount defense a guy like logan is getting for expressing discontent about SFV, especially after little gems like these

What’s next, we gonna defend dark prince?

The character does have alot of tools/options to work with tho.

I don’t think level up should be a priority everytime… In fact alot of G players prefer the oki pressure mid screen > level up.

Picking your spots to level up depending on the situation.

Lvl1 fireball is definitely garbage, if they can oki them into a corner than yeah I’ve seen them take it routinely, but trying to play ground at lvl1 is a really bad idea for most scenarios. He’s not some ideal character where having X/Y make him not rely on the knockdowns to stand a chance in a lotta MUs. Well, either that or get his ass beat so he can pop VT1.

I feel like G is getting the birdie over look.

And blanka is getting the zeku look over.

G is good if you look at him on paper, tools galore, prolly the best 3bar in the game that isn’t Aegis, but throw him into a tournament scenario and I think he’s too inconsistent and momentum based to get far.

Well its a 3d fighter so what are your tastes based on that? Keep in mind pressure in DoA doesn’t work like it does in other fighters as everyone can counter everything so you can’t do braindead stuff. That said some characters are more aggressive than others, some want to hit buttons, some want to grapple like a motherfucker, and all points inbetween.

NDA no, but I do have a verbal agreement on stuff I can and can’t talk about or show. I am allowed to make videos/stream ahead of launch but cant show off certain game modes. I got the ps4 version.
