SFV Lounge: Lupe please comeback! DevilJin moving to Mortal Kombat 11

So who do we consider the bottom 5?

This is actually one of the reasons i quit drinking completely. I can’t play any games under the influence. If I can’t enjoy my favorite thing to do then I don’t need it

Vesper did a video where Alex, Gief, Sakura, Ryu and Vega were the bottom 5. I believe most others do generally agree with that.

Thats pretty easy.

What characters you play? These are the bottom 5
Who do you lose against the most? These are Broken Top Tiers that need to be nerfed.

Talking about shit characters is boring any way. Like talking about the worst sport teams. They’re bad, nobody buys the season tickets, blah.

Maybe Julia is using one of these.

I can drink and play most games like COD or something. Anything that takes thinking or concentration and I can’t do it

Vega, Vega, Vega, Vega, and Vega.

How can something so beautiful be made into such an ugly creature balance-wise.

Ed is worse than Alex

Agree with the rest

I think the worst characters are Vega, Ryu, Zangief, probably Ed and then it gets less clear because characters start getting better at that point.

I keep hearing people saying that Falke is worse than Ryu and I take that as a personal insult.

Falke’s matchup chart alone is better than Ryu’s so no way she’s the worst on that alone.

It reminds me when people said Ibuki was the worst character in S1. She wasn’t really and it’s just because of low exposure to a character people will just write them off as absolute worst because if you aren’t seeing them they must be that bad. If people figured out all of her standing reset shit back in S1 she would have had a hard time seeing her S2 strength.

I forgot Ed even existed. Another school shooter character.

What exactly is wrong with Sakura? Is she bad bc she can’t steal rounds well? I use her and Chun and while she isn’t top 5 i don’t feel gimped using her like I do with say… Ryu. In fact I always feel like i have everything i need to win.

I’d put chun in there personally. I also don’t feel like a character with a dp a fireball and a teleport dash is bottom 5… but meh.

I don’t feel like ed or sakura really warrant a bottom 5 either… and maybe even not vega.

But someone’s gotta be bottom 5 so may as well be the ones in there. I just think that if that’s the case it’s best bottom 5 ever as all those characters are one or 2 buffs away from being solid mid tiers.

I’d swap out Sakura for Ed, personally. I don’t have a high opinion of Ed and tend to rate Sakura higher than most people. Watching Uyro play her she doesn’t struggle as much as the other bottom tiers that have huge holes in their games.

Yeah that’s how I see the bottom 5. They are bottom 5 because they have to be, but it’s not like they can’t win matches or move up places in CC bracket. Sakura only needs to hit you one or 2 times with a medium or s.HP/b+HP and you go flying into the corner. You can’t take a jump from her at all without having bad things happen to you and her walk speed means she can walk people down including zoners. You can never really keep her that far away unless you’re playing Guile or Menat and even then. Plus she has a fireball so I can’t just throw a bunch of long ranged Falke stuff at her like I can vs Cammy and Karin and expect them to just deal with it. Once she floods up the screen with a charged fireball then she has control of the screen.

Alex is still out of meta, but it’s still Alex and on a good day Alex will do Alex stuff and win. Vega the same. He’s not good but he can still do his Vega shenanigans and then sit on life lead with his walk speed and win matches.

The high shot is ironically better at stopping fireball beaters than the low shot.

In particular Ive noticed it catches Rashids v skill and Rogs turn just a bit better.

There’s also (my theory) that if you’re going to get your shot countered, you might as well use the better data ( high) shot, since you’ve got better AA chances.

CPersonally I find sakura to be like akuma. Just needs a good player to show her strengths. I was using her all day yesterday and like you, I struggled to feel any huge faults in her toolset. She’s not overpowering in any way, but the right player uses her and I can almost guarantee people will start to notice or call her cheap. Her standing reset mixups her dfhk, her stagger pressure, her cr.mk being cancelable into the world if you’ve got them one hit confirms… her shimmy game definitely on point… she’s got everything you could want in an upclose characrer outside of a command grab and command run.

Her biggest problems for me are:

  1. lacks a true dp so she’s susceptible to aerial mixups.
  2. Lacks range on her normals (st.hk is decent but slow for its range)
  3. Neutral bypass isn’t great (though hk tatsu is serviceable)
  4. Doesn’t get much if anything off of KD oki against backrise.

Decent problems but not total deal breakers because none are actually horrid outside her stubby normals which most of the cast has.

They should have kept Sakura throw loop. Was a no brainer.

I remember talking to Floe in his stream when Sagat launched. He was fighting a Rog and saying that he remembered the match feeling easier in IV because he could press more buttons at Rog. Seems like Bonchan has learned that with good high shot placement and a couple buttons you can at least keep the life lead safely for a while before characters like Rog get in. His ability to keep that Rog out for like 30 and 40 seconds at a time is crazy.

Those high shots are something that keeps Sagat doing better vs Rog than Falke does. Falke doesn’t have any super low commitment thing to throw out against his dash in stuff. If you don’t press anything he gets in for free but if you throw a button at a bad time he gets in.

It’s something I battle with.

Do I throw the shots and trade damage, or do I try to do it with more normals.

I think you can probably make a small rule that unless he has trigger, it’s all good.

My problems with Rog ( and many SF5 characters) is not so much the FB beaters, it’s that you/they don’t earn the corner, you simply get put there by some spazzy combo.
