Everyone I know knows at least ONE of the SF2 themes and can hum along with it. That is TRUE power.
MK’s best songs come from the MK movies (not NRS), which to their great had excellent soundtracks. But MK wishes it had music as good as the SF series’ track record.
SF5 alone has more good songs than all the MK game series combined.
Well, Tekken just pulled an “It’s out tomorrow” and Capcom pulled that at EVO also.
Because we’ve had such a drought of content since their double release, I assume CC will hit us with a release of content on the same month. Be it the balance patch or a new character. But usually they go hand-in-hand.
So my current expectation is the day after Capcom Cup we get something.
No, but we are getting 8 characters for the price of 6 in S4. This will be in preparation for the final physical repackaging of the game at the end of 2019. But you don’t need an X-Kira to know that.
Only agree with the first one. He needs more than that.
St.mk to 9 frame is a good change
St.hk personally I think is perfectly fine, second hit on crouch is busted ( but give him that if you like!)
VT1 for Two bar I’m still not picking it. The Trigger itself needs to be better - Faster startup or good Oki
V-skill - Problem seems to be the shite idea, but less frames is welcome because it sucks.
I’d like his cr.hp to start up faster and also his cr.mk. I’d also like to be able to space Tiger Knee to be plus on block. EX knee should be plus on block. HK Tiger knee faster start up.
Basically his normals suck and his Tiger knees suck. His shot game, uppercut, V2 , V-reversal are all very good.
I agree with all of this. He’d be a pretty damn strong character if these came into effect, but I don’t think he’d be in the top 5, but he’d be close… Right where he should be IMO.
On a side note, I actually like his VT1, lol. I do wish it had quicker startup and it needs something extra to justify being three bars, but I like converting pokes into bigger damage, as well as busting through any projectile in fireball wars or characters with mutliple armour attacks. It’s not as strong as VT2 but I just get better utility out of it… I am probably playing Sagat a little farther away than I should be, which is definitely a huge factor in this. Also, as strong as a charged VT2 is for oki, I feel a little scummy doing it… I shouldn’t, everyone else uses whatever they can to win, but that’s just me.
I’m 38. I put quarters in the arcade cab. Once the wow factor wore off, we went back to SF2. MK2 on the otherhand had longevity. People still played it when MK3 came out. Only UMK3 finally drew people from MK2. Even then, there were people that were still about that MK2 life. MK1 was all flash. MK2 added substance.
Ken’s jab cancels are way faster than I’m used to so I keep missing the cancel window
Muscle memory issue, I’m working on it
That’s more a player thing. This is the tail end of a large set, and throughout it, @GetTheTables didn’t tech very often.
At the start of the set I was trying for throw baits but he kept either not teching or jabbing, so I switched to basically not shimmying and never really had to switch back.
Could you go into more detail on this one? I’m clearly not good at evaluating myself; IE I always thought my spacing was bad but you seem to disagree on that
Oh right, I couldn’t know the context but was wondering why you weren’t attempting shimmies after he tech’d a couple.
Your spacing is good, it’s the options you commit to within close ranges that screw you over. You hold space, you don’t give up screen space for free so you rarely land yourself against a corner, you know to buffer things like st.lk to check forward movement, but your fireball game is wack. You commit to double fireballs a lot when the opponents can get a fat jump if you commit to the second, it’s super risky. Image your fireballs like a normal on block, if they get blocked close you’re minus, so throwing a second is a super risky idea.
Yeah I was gonna say in @Akhos defense that he did shimmy the fuck out of me a bit but periodically a small DJ would appear on my shoulder and whisper in my ear to stop teching so damn much. Also play Ibuki.
@Frost@Dime Thanks for the feedback. I have a lot to work on.
I thought I had a handle on mid-screen EX Clap mix ups but it became really clear to me as the sets rolled on that my understanding was really basic. If I wasn’t getting the optimal starting point I’d fuck it up a lot.
Definitely need more/better set ups. I’ve gotten by up to this point by just winging it. Which also has the side effect that my blocksting choices tend to suck.
The space control thing is really funny now that I’ve watched the clips over. I even felt it a bit during the games but on replay I watch myself just walk way out of any practical threat range over and over and then I’m just kind of flailing from there trying to get back in. Gonna take some doing to overcome that impulse but I’ll work on it.
Funny story about MK1: since I did good on my spelling test, my parents had got me the game for Sega Genesis. Prior to that, I was mostly playing the game in the Arcade, laundromat, and the pizza shop. I was pretty hooked and had fun playing with Scorpion. Well, every time we caught the bus home, there was always this weird lady that was constantly high as a kite on our route. I thought she was pretty scary because I usually didn’t understand why she was acting the way she did. I’m about 4 going on 5 at this point, so everything scared me.
Once I took my game out of the bag to look at the back of the case, it quickly got her attention. She said something along the lines of, “Yo that game rules. I have a secret but I don’t want you to get in trouble”. I had no idea what she meant…and she looked at my dad to see his reaction. When he asked about it, she said she knew the “blood code”. Since my experience was from the Arcade version, I assumed blood and gore was automatic. She insisted on giving me the code so I wouldn’t be disappointed when I played it. I got the ok and wrote it down on a piece of paper.
As soon as I get home, I quickly finished my homework and turned the game on. First thing I did was enter the code and voila…it actually worked! I couldn’t believe it. From then on, I no longer feared the woman. She was A-okay with me.
