Its quite the opposite in fact. Those who do not swear fealty to Lord Boon risk permaban. His power is reaching its peak and he is about to be made manifest in the mortal world once again. Submit or die.

Ed Boon is nothing but a pale western imitation of Lord Ono’s troll power, just like Mortal Kombat was a pale western imitation of SFII back in the '90s.

I liked the Mortal Combat 2 soundtrack.

but a lot of those are just buffered from outside block range. it is impressive when i see Momochi land those with Ken but i hardly see it. it’s harder in V and maybe that’s why it’s super rare to see in tournament play so i guess i’d have to concede my earlier statement (i was thinking more about jab>vtc>combo type of confirms).

in 3S, most of those 1 hit confirms are one hit because canceling into special>super usually won’t reach or is scaled too much. i agree with you about the 1HC in SFV but maybe if they’re more frequent it would be more exciting to watch (not too frequent or else it’s nothing special). also you only get one super at a time in V and 3S has a bigger reliance on supers overall.

Do people actually like MK or is that a meme?
I’m old I can’t tell anymore.
But people seem to like Trap Rap unironically so who knows anymore.

MK brought us Kano. Forever goat status.

Praise Lord Boon.

I watched the matches, get the tables , the best little section you had in the match is about 19:30 until you eat the jump in.

Asked him questions continually , like the cross up after pressure ( need way more close jumps, playing too honest) and sustained the pressure instead of defaulting to neutral. Also you started to dash forward to check his in and out play style.

Basically you’re playing footsies here a lot instead of pressing the advantage with your command grabs and st.hk.

Also when you get thrown when you wake up try back dashing to get you out of that space, you took a lot of multiple throws.

I’d like more ham with the bread here, more jumps, more dash up command grab, more st.hk.

You’re not making it difficult enough for him.

I won’t speak for anyone else, but I like the MK series. MK1, MK2, and UMK3 took up a few years of my childhood, and I’ve played and enjoyed pretty much every other game in the series (except maybe MK Armaggedon). I like MK9 and MKX a lot (maybe more so than the 3D titles).

I still like MK’s design and lore, more so than SF to be honest. In my opinion, the SF series have tighter games mechanically and I do think it’s a stronger series for competitive fighters, but I generally have found MK games to be more fun.

I like the aesthetic of the characters. Maybe it’s because a lot of them are edgy, but the character designs just appeal to me more than most SF characters. SF seems more “silly” for lack of a more accurate term. MK lore is also more interesting.

I don’t care for the gore and fatalities stop being cool after a week. Not to keen on block button either. But if it drops I will buy.

I figured it out:

  1. Play rock solid footsies
  2. When that fails, block the mix up
  3. ???
  4. Still ???

Alright so it is still a work in progress

Thanks for putting that together. I’m not sure what Frost will say but I think DJ will just tell me to pick a top tier. He’s not even wrong.

Appreciate the feedback man, I’ll try to wedge that into my brain.

It’s funny because I just played an extended set with another person on Sunday I think it was and they gave me the same feedback of needing to apply more pressure. And in a lot of cases be more aggressive. I’m naturally a really passive player which sucks when playing Laura (and I think to a lesser extent SF5 in general).

I did start to grok the backdash idea at one point but by the time that light hit the back of my brain we were already in hour 2-3 and I was just happy to still be doing QCF motions successfully.

I did some scouting between the last set we played and this one to figure out if the throw/dash/throw follow up was real or not (I ate damn near literally every one the first time around). I’m not sure if my timing sucks or not but my jabs were failing me so backdash definitely seems like the safer option.

I didn’t watch the clips he put together but at one point Will was getting on point with punishing the st.HKs when I spaced them badly which spooked me off of them (also from probably hitting it when I should be using st.HP due to range/speed). I need to work on the spacing more.

Anyways I started rambling out notes. Thanks again for the review.

He needs to get more accustomed to her buttons. Her buttons are her only way out of shit other than v reversal or lucky backdash/jump out. Like when you shimmy him in the corner he should just s.MK activate instead of just sitting there and then activating raw where he can get punished with EX tatsu or something else fast.

More use of s.LK, s.MK, s.HP and c.HP would be good for him. Other than that Laura is still scummy enough that you don’t have to go up higher on the tier list yet. Plus anything could happen in 2 weeks.

It isn’t real, I think I’m either -1 or -2 after dashing forward after a throw mid-screen, that’s why I kept doing sthks here and there to try and catch you pressing. But you barely challenged it so I eventually just kept doing it.

Backdashing gets away from sthk after throw too though so it’s a good way to get out of dodge. Beating it requires me hard reading with double dashes which you can punish (or dash button, which you’ll at worst flip out of the backdash a ways away from me unless I do something like dash sthk which is unsafe if you just block)

Just have to play to the characters strengths or mesh them with your own style. People should be scared playing Laura, playing solid it what we would want you to do.

You play like you would be more suited to birdie, that pokey ground game with sudden BS sprinkled in.

I guess you just gota play without fear with those grapplers!

MK didn’t start becoming a fighting game until MK2. MK1 got by on the gore and flash factor.

Yeah I ran the math on the meaty situation and sort of stopped when I realized it was negative. But looking at the #s it is just close enough that if I’m slow with a button (and if I’m not hitting a 3f’er which most of the time I wasn’t) then I could still get caught trading = losing.

Great practice for me though because defensive backdashing isn’t really something I’ve been mindful of up to this point.

Yeah, MK1’s draw was certainly mostly due to the gore and graphics, and the movements and animations were very clunky, but it was still a fun game and I spent a lot of time playing against friends and the CPU trying to fight Reptile in The pit.

But yeah, MK2 was much better in every way. I pretty much never touched MK1 again after 2 came out.

It was a lot easier to be fearless before the S3 command grab recovery changes. That shit kicked my courage in the balls. Whatever that means.

I’ve looked at Birdie but I am a petty man who dislikes holding buttons so not sure how well that would work out. I’ve also considered going back to Mika because I know damn well I can’t stay out with her and the reward for getting in is better. Or giving up the command grab game overall and pick someone honest and fair.

Like Kolin.

Mostly waiting to see how the S4 changes fuck up the landscape before I decide on putting any real time into anyone else. Thankfully everyone in the mid to high Gold range still seem to be missing chromosomes so I can get away with my bullshit until then.
