SFV Lounge: Lupe please comeback! DevilJin moving to Mortal Kombat 11

Also i think sak hk tatsu is ass vs fireballs. Seems like shes 30 frames or more into it before it hits from the range she wants to use it at. Very easy to reaction anti-air

Our definitions of good are very different.

How is Ryu’s plasma good when it gets dunked on by half the cast? Or am i misunderstanding the discussion?

It’s better than Saks tho

It has its uses. Not every character has good AA, not everyone is using awesome projectiles and not everyone has great projectile game. It can go through fireballs at ranges and timings that normal jumps can’t. Hk tatsu can work randomly when you play a very safe non committal spacing game like I do.

She also feels like she goes better the better the player she plays against, personally. But I feel like that with most sf5 characters. I can take out diamond players with my day 2 characters in sf5, but I can then lose 5 in a row to golds in casual matches. Idk. The game is weird.

It’s also effectively worse than over half of other Fireball characters plasma. I mean, all of them aren’t meant for straight zoning, but they are way more effective at their intended use than what Ryu has

Personally I think urien has one of the best fireball games in the game, but that might just be me. But it isn’t because his plasma is good. It’s because his UP fireball is good. Makes people not want to reaction jump his projectiles.

Sakuras can be used the same, but only from more specific ranges so it’s much more of a read. Urien doesn’t have a DP unlike ryu and sagat though, which is the primary thing that hampers his zoning game. If he did he would likely be the best zoner in the game… or up there.

Do Sakura players use that? I always linked st.lk for the hit confirm.

Sak HK tatsu is like Sagat HK tiger knee, they crouch down , send up a flare , then do the move…that’s negative on block.

At least Sak has FB inv though.

Before the patch you would have to do it because cr mp was +2 oh rather than +5. So you couldnt confirm it into lk, you still cant with hp dp, you would have to buffer it. You’d go into m dp on reaction or you could just always link it to the safe l tatsu.

I come back to ranked after a long time of inactivity and the first thing that happens is that I beat 2-1 a Grand Master Necalli player who kept jumping on my Diamond Falke.

I was watching shazzy, the highest ranked cody player, play a match and he jumped forward 6 times IN A ROW against someone. He got AA’d 5 times in a row, the 6th jumpin hit and he went into a v trigger combo and won the round off of the ensuing mixups #Sf5.

His fireballs are very fast and oppressive, with the startup being as fast as ryu’s despite having worst recovery. Which is pretty good for a char that doesnt rely on fireballs. It isnt hard to punish if you have a move that gets around it. If you dont then it’s a big problem.

Agreed. That’s why I dont throw fireballs at Cammys and characters like her. Doesn’t matter how good your fireball game is unless you are guile, you’ll get fucked up.

Having said that, I almost never throw the fast fireballs. It’s a good way to get urien killed.

This is probably the one thing I miss about playing Vega. Jump at him wrong and you are eating a 25% CC combo.

You kinda have to chuck plasma in footsie range against good cammy players. Countinteruitive as it seems, its one of the few matchups where i plasma the most

Edit: countinteruitive lol, not even gonna fix that phone typo. New word invented by yours truly bitchezzz

Makes sense, plasma against footsie players works well. But I’ve never been able to in that specific matchup with urien because in footsie range I’m opening myself to divekicks which urien doesn’t deal with greatly. But for ken who has a DP that says fuck you to divekicks… I can see it.

Still would be pretty hard to do though, but upclose fireballs are one of my specialties outside those kind of divekicky/jump mixup matchups.

GGs @GetTheTables

I think you finally got me to get DP AA into my muscle memory at least somewhat X3

You need to work on your endurance though, we only played for 4 hours and yet I could see you slipping bit by bit as we hit hour 3. A grappling bud should be able to last longer than that!

…I say as I’m about to pass out myself

GGs man, fun and educational as always.

My brain definitely started getting mushy towards the end. Though honestly I held up longer than I thought; it takes a lot of my brain power to get through some of these sets. All those breaks were to refuel.

Let know how your mental endurance is when you’re 36. Hopefully SF6 will be nice and slow for us old folks.

As always any feedback is appreciated. I have a set of mental notes I was putting together during the games but outside critique is always very helpful.

Age is just an excuse!

…sadly I don’t really have any critique of my own, I’m not good at giving others advice. I’d put up random matches for others, but since only the last 50 BL matches are saved I’d only have the ones where we were both getting worn out

You guys had a 4 hour set? How many games was that? Had to have been at least 80 or so.

I’ve done 4 or more hours many times. But they were mostly online grinds with a lot of down time in between. Last time I remember playing someone in a extremely long set was when I got destroyed by a much better Chun player 50-8. That was probably at least 2 hours long.

Ha, fair enough.

You know you’ve had a good session when you bust out of what CFN keeps in your history for that match type.

Edit: also if you want to throw any matches up feel free. I don’t mind displaying my beatings in the name of science.
