SFV Lounge: It was coming and it CAME HOME. Ono is your Evo 2018 Chamion

If she’s follow their path, Cammy is already dead for season 4.

Honestly I don’t see Capcom just buffing the weaklings, so the Power Rangers characters who are on top 5 will not be the same next year, but people always forget the other character who never get nerfed significantly since day one. As always, he gets unnoticed.

Cammy Shammy, I 3-0’d a Super Duper Plat Cammy with Falke and I suck

Cammy only top tier if you’re Asian

Cammy fits too well into the system to ever be dead. The worst she became was a lesser Karin with better AA which was still really really good. Cammy has been one of the most historically top tier characters in SF because she just fits too well into what’s important for winning in SF. Especially in newer SF where having options that get around projectile/zone play is important.

Infil said it best in that she hasn’t left top tier (could maybe argue she was high mid in S2) since the game launched.

She’s not really going anywhere other than under top 5. You can’t change her or the game in a way that will really affect her from being top 10 to top 5.

This Cammy situation shows people never learn. Begging for nerfs for top tiers just leads to another over nerfed character. The low tiers are still going to be ass. Can the FGC lynch mob focus getting buffs for low tiers? More strong characters means more fun for everyone and more interesting tournament results.

Nerf Menat. She is the problem.

Nerf Rashid also.

Ibuki and Akuma are stronger then Cammy but i guess people like to hate on Cammy more.

Imo Ibuki’s vtrigger 2 should be 3 bars , for a character that can build v-meter with so much ease ,it blows my mind how can VT 2 one of the best in the game can only be 2 bars.

I said this before, Capcom really needs to recheck the V-system for most characters because you have characters like Ibuki that not only has a strong trigger, she also has a strong vskill that helps build it with ease. Then you look at characters like Ryu, with mediocre at best trigger and situational / risky vskill to build it.

Where is the logic ?

Interesting thing is they did nerf her V gauge build which is part of the reason why her bomb trigger isn’t worth bothering with anymore. It is true that she is still one of the best v gauge builders though. Probably better off just nerfing her v gauge build a little further for the 2 bar. It’s essentially a one shot trigger other than the boomerang effect and if it gets blocked you’re looking at being near dead before getting another one (although it is possible). Ibuki’s VT2 going to 3 bars just wouldn’t work because it’s not devastating enough for that like the bombs were. Bombs were designed to turn the whole game around at the expect of the 3 bars, but as good as her VT2 is it can’t really do that robbery on its own.

Ibuki is strong mostly because she is just ridiculous even before the trigger. Which she kind has to be as that’s one of the main things she has over Cammy who overall has better grounded neutral than her. Ibuki has to play more counter pokey but gets more reward for when she does land stuff.

In Vesper’s video he explained Ryu’s trigger situation in S3. TBH if they didn’t make DPs burn v gauge his VT1 would probably be in a decent state. It’s just the timer buff that would have made it almost decent got offset by now burning fast if you do other specials. Either way Ryu still has fundamental issues that a stronger trigger would only be the start of fixing.

Ryu was just an example, you can add multiple other characters with situational / average at best v-skills that only gain a average v-trigger.

Also, Blocked V-skill moves should not give v-gauge at all in my opinion. Because the risk for some characters is far lower then others.

V-skills such as Ibuki’s or Necalli’s can be abused to an extent with low risk and high reward while v-skills like Juri or Ryu for example are either risky and unsafe and require charge ( Juri ) or situational and risky ( Ryu ) ,while giving them access to mediocre v-triggers.

The entire game is focused on the v-system and it’s the core reason that separates top tier from low. The risk / reward ratio is incredibly unbalanced between characters.

Those moves are fair in giving V Gauge on block because they do have start up and lengthy recovery. Necalli’s V Skill as good as it is you do one bad one and the damage you take is way worse than the bit of V Gauge you build doing it.

Juri and Ryu are both characters where the reasons they are not top tier extend beyond their triggers and v skills. Juri can viably combo into her V Skill and her V Skill is more so designed to shut down the opponents ability to whiff things or throw out fireballs. So the benefit is more in that you shut down a lot of their neutral.

Like with Juri once she charges V Skill Ibuki can’t really throw knives anymore and is forced to engage a character that can put out a fireball that forces her to jump. So you get a big neutral reward in that matchup just charging the v skill and then if it hits you build up gauge and reset your position vs her.

It’s not a witch hunt if you see the bitch actually casting Black Magic :face_with_monocle:

Necalli will sit on top next season, mark my words.

It is much easier to survive the buff/nerf cycle intact when people barely remember you are in the game.

I often forget about him until he shows up like some kind of dreadlocked unicorn.

It would have to be some crazy scenario where Capcom decides to perfectly nerf every top tier to the point where Necalli goes unscathed again and ends up sitting on top.

Which would suck cuz I’d rather see six Cammy’s walk around and hit buttons and do the button thing than Necalli scramble around and hit s.HK and V Skill. I remember that one Texas tournament back during Season 1 where there was like 4 Necalli’s in top 8 or some shit and it made me feel awful.

While I am so tired of that basic blond bitch Cammy, I have to agree that seeing 4+ Necallis on top 8 would be far worse than seeing 6 matches with Cammy in a row like the current state of the game.

Yeah Necalli for whatever reason is a snooze machine.

Even when he was at his peak I feel like you still didn’t see as many as you probably should just because people weren’t able to stay awake long enough to play the character.

I’m hoping for more buffs up than nerfs down but that clearly isn’t how SF5 patches roll. Cammy, Akuma, Guile and Menat seem pretty proofed against getting really busted down unless someone at Capcom gets a wild hair up their ass. And that shit ain’t happening until 2019 so whatever until then.

May Sagat and G deliver us all.
