SFV Lounge: It was coming and it CAME HOME. Ono is your Evo 2018 Chamion

random damage/stun isn’t the greatest mechanic but it’s still much better than random input lag. the former only affects the reward you get for a hit, whereas the latter can make the difference between landing a hit and eating a full combo. it leads to situations where you feel like you reacted to something in time but got punished anyways, which is IMO much more frustrating than a hit randomly doing 100 damage instead of 70 or w/e (since at the end of the day it’s still your fault for getting hit in a game with stable input lag)

I’m aware there are other forms of randomness in ST as well but I think they still have less overall effect on gameplay than nonstop fluctuations in input lag.

besides, ST is old as fuck and games just weren’t as carefully designed back then. something being present in a 1994 title is not a justification for the same thing occurring in a 2016 title, regardless of how beloved ST is. we expect not only more careful craftsmanship from modern devs, but also good communication, which makes the fact that Capcom seems to have hid this from us all the more infuriating.

it’s still possible that this is all just due to programming errors, but if Capcom doesn’t acknowledge as much and pledge to fix it, I’m not going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Of course. Which the statement isn’t to imply that it’s worse than the lag in V. Just that in 2018 we put up with more than the old men do. Just a perspective of how less picky we are than they.

It’ll be interesting to see which pros acknowledge they have felt the random delay for the last 3 years. The reality of it is that is that if it took one guy on a computer to make people realize something they didn’t kmow they were experiencing for 3 years, it’s likely too late to expect a fix. Capcom is only doing 2 more seasons before they are likely looking at another game or sequel any way.

Besides people on twitter already put out rhetoric that states the game is volatile to the point that a lag fix wouldn’t be enough of an answer any way. If you in you locked in to the volatility at this point unless you play other things.

Unless you can clearly point out that the random delay made Tokido lose the grand prize at CPT Finals it’s just another day to Capcom and buy more costumes

He still a part of Alex Nation?

Nah he was using Cody.

IDK… I think I’ve been able to accept the fact that V’s supposed to be volatile, and accept a lot of the things that people like to complain about. But regardless of Capcom’s vision for the game, hidden random input lag has got to be one of the worst possible ways to go about achieving that vision. Maybe you’re right that other people won’t be swayed by this issue so much, but personally I don’t think I’ll be able to have much fun with the game knowing that any narrow miss might have been the game’s fault rather than mine.

I agree with you that Capcom’s unlikely to fix anything, especially because it might be intentional. But I still think it’s worth trying to get their attention on this. If you just see that as more whining from people who can’t adapt that’s fine but I just feel this is a categorically different kind of issue than CCs being too good or w/e. Nobody should be happy with this.

That’s not people being picky that’s just 1990 standards of video games vs. 2018 what are you smoking

You know back in the old days all those black dudes were fine the the whole segregation thing, just goes to show that people today are a lot more picky when it comes to this stuff

This sounds equally dumb when affixed to more than just that

So what causes it to flactuate like this ? Stages? Costumes ? NPCs ?

That’s a joke, but it’s almost serious now. Think about it, some AA are invincible only against airborne opponents, guess what happens when the AA is mistimed by 3f? If you noticed that happened a lot of time, some players get jumped on and the CH visual signor popped up, so the defender actually tried to AA. With the fluctuating frames news we don’t know if the defender reacted well or the game said F you to him. Phenom game play looks perfect in this situation since he jump like a kangaroo all the time, he can hit the sleeping defender, but when the latter reacted accordingly sometimes the game helps the attacker.

It’s like walking on eggs, the only way for Capcom to stop these talks and theories is fixing that issue ASAP. We average players can complain and find the right excuses for our losses, but pros and their sponsors will be happy with this? Since Capcom said they learned the lesson about communication, it’s time to make a statement about that. We’ll see.

You can use the same sentiment to a bunch of shit, as I said. Thinking that something is acceptable just due to it being the norm in an older gen is some retarded shit, hence the statement.

People back in the old days used to be fine bathing once every couple months, goes to show how picky we are nowadays.

No specified cause, SFV input delay has always fluctuated supposedly, but the input delay testers have never realised it had a fixed timer for the variable.

It’s just happening, randomly, without cause.

I quit this thread

I play on pc usually, so i cannot use this as an excuse.

I miss the XBox days

I played SF4 on GFWL and I feel no shame.

It could cause issues with PC vs. PS4, so you aren’t completely free of straws to pull. The crossplay was always kinda garbage, this could be a factor as to why.

But will this push Froztey to be the ultimate dropper and drop not just every character but the game itself
