Took sagat to T mode for 5 minutes. Ok. It’s easy to see why he only has 2 fireballs in vt1:
St.mp,cr.mp xx VT fireball, fhk TU xx super does 510 damage.
Don’t do the super and you get 306 damage… meterless. Plus his V meter isn’t tied to having to do fireballs with v meter unlike akuma or ryu.
Are people really this clueless as to why akuma and ryu get more fireballs from their respective v triggers? Akuma can’t use his regular fireball anymore and has to use meter, same for ryu. Saga5 however can still chuck normal fireballs and if he gets a medium medium confirm… that’s your ass.
I’m curious to see how sagat will deal with some of the more aggressive characters in this game. I have a feeling cammy and mika are going to be pretty rough matchups for him. Granted I haven’t watch too much footage yet.

Even with considerable growth from 2017’s numbers (179,072) Street Fighter V 's new peak of 215,532 didn’t come close, and that’s with the proviso that Ninja, the biggest streamer right now, basically injected 60K of his followers into the mix to raise the concurrent viewer count. As time passed into the dead of night that bounce wavered, and it led to an eventual drop down to 170,000 before the event was over.
Honestly, pretty sure the drop in SF5 viewers has more to do with it running late into the night for the east coast and other places rather than people not wanting to watch.
As for DBF, they still don’t show up to locals so who cares.
Yeah, I literally stopped watching EVO midway through DBFZ top 8 because it was already 3 AM for me. I sure as hell would’ve watched SFV if I could’ve. (without losing an entire night of sleep, that is)
Sagat’s fireball looks like it has some really nice pushback on it on block. I seem to recall low pushback on block being one of the big issues I had with shoto fireballs in s1, so I’m wondering if that’s unusual for the newer characters? Or if they changed it in AE /I’m remembering things wrong?
Also, if the character isn’t complete ass, Bonchan will make him work. Dude made mediocre-as-hell USFIV Sagat a legit threat, so if this version isn’t a pile of trash (which it doesn’t look like, though the system mechanics probably don’t favor him), he’ll be destroying fools with this guy.
How are you feeling about the brand new characters? I found Falke, Abigail (first fighting game appearance) and G very bland.
I’d like them to re-focus into bringing back more old or forgotten characters. Sodom, Honda (completely redesigned), Necro, a redesigned Sean, some Street Fighter 1 guy…
