Bruh necalli vt2 fireball is hilarious. Why did I waste my time on Ryu, Fang and Sakura? Lmao
Top 5 is gud. Get top limb character and top I’m good at SF character.
Zeku doesn’t suffer against Menat, Guile and Cammy like others characters, instead he lose vs Akuma and sucks hard against Ibuki.
About fuckin’ time. I didn’t understand why you didn’t play them from the beginning.
I deffo think there are some more 7-3s than just Ryu and Gief
But, but, but…
I wanted to see how you would do with Gief!
Nash - Gief?
'Cause I have trouble working out what fits me and what is just because my opponent doesn’t know how to deal with things and what is just because I flat-out suck
Speaking of funny names, I still remember losing to a Blanka named “FlyingDildo”. I was hella salty and yet I couldn’t stop laughing.
The worst offender was a Urien named “RobUofyourpoints” because he did just that The best part was that he stuck around for game 2 after barely winning the 1st. Definitely appreciated that even though I lost both games in the end
Actually I think its the other way around with cammy and akuma. Akuma is a better match up for Zeku than Cammy is. Cammy has too much of what is good against Zeku coupled with easy pressure.
both are 6-4 vs Zeku but Zeku tools are better for dealing with Akuma than Cammy.
why do you think Sim is unfavored against Guile and Menat?
Guile definitely has the walk speed and buttons to contest Sim but since Guile doesn’t really have a get in free tool and Sim has good ways to neutralize booms (V skill over them, s.HP or slide under them) I pictured the matchup being more even
Menat I just don’t know anything about that matchup so I’d be curious what you think of it
That’s how I see it. Cammy can close the gap with meterless stuff that makes her safe or plus faster than Akuma. O.Zeku probably does better than Akuma since you have to start with him than vs Cammy. Probably better off switching to Young Zeku ASAP vs both, but at least having a 3 frame button will be a bit less suffocating vs Akuma than Cammy. Land hits/stun on either one and can get back in there.
My chart definitely has some placeholder numbers for Zeku where he wont stay going even vs Akuma, but I’d say with his options it’s definitely a softer 4 6 than vs Cammy and arguable for 4.5 unless you’re fighting like Tokido or something.
I didn’t realize how rough his anti projectile options were till I saw this match vs Daigo. Can tell Daigo knew how hard he has it vs Guile booms and picked VT1 to make sure he could flood the screen with more booms. Pretty much had to resort to crouch blocking booms for long periods of the match and could only get back in with VT activation.
I think I rated both of those as 4.5 which just means that the top tier character is likely a little better at gaining momentum at certain parts of the match. Making it slightly in their favor but very close to even. Basically arguable for even, just a few things about them in the clutch that are cheaper than what Sim offers.
Like with Menat vs Sim she has some quirky things that work vs him. Like soul spark taking up the space where he likes to hide and v skill and hit air buttons from. Plus if he tries to block VTC activate she can just v reversal to the other side of both of his triggers and place them off screen. If he gets going on her he can do well, but her trigger is still cheaper than his and it’s one of the few matchups where her v reversal empowers her in the matchup rather than killing her comeback and taking a free punish.
Vs Guile he can do things that make it rough for him, but since Sim cant really just do one random thing and destroy him either because of his defensive options, it’s more like a slow tread between both characters and Guile can give him a hard time if he does slowly push him into the corner. Could argue that it’s even, but Guile can have some pretty good rounds vs him and he has nice quirky tools vs his offense like being able to sobat over slide.
I’ve talked about that with some Zekus on Twitter, even pros, and we’ll agreed with what I’ve said before. Surprisingly Old Zeku is able to manage Cammy very well, not an advantage MU, but he can stop her. Young has more problems against Cammy because he don’t have a dp, but LP Palm can beat her dives clean. This is a MU where VT2 can be an option, when the V-meter is full she can’t jump anymore, but VT1 is still good here.
Against Akuma Zeku has the tools also, but here the VT makes an huge difference, defending against a VT1 Akuma isn’t easy especially if Zeku get hit by a dp. If he has the CA stocked even the Raging Demon becomes an option.
Guile feels easier than Akuma and Cammy, but in this MU Zeku is forced to use his Young form the most. His palms can absorb booms and Guile better not become predictable with them because once Zeku is able to bypass the booms with Hozanto, Guile will be in serious trouble to sustain the close combat pressure of YZ. Hozanto can also go under VT1 booms, isn’t free for Guile. Daigo is used to this MU because he played a lot with RozeRoze, probably the best Old Zeku player around.
I’m a little late to the whiff punish talk but I just wanted to say it wasn’t something I started doing until SFV. I played SF4 from the very beginning and all the way until SFV came out. But it was something I never really tried to add to my game. It was a confidence thing, I thought that there was no way I’ll ever be good enough to do that stuff that only pro’s and good players on stream could do. I think a lot of players have that mindset. Now I’m not saying I can whiff punish a medium attack or that most players can. But they should be whiff punishing stuff like Ed’s hop kick or Bison’s scissor kicks that just fall short of reaching you.
The same thing goes for counter hit combos or AA DP. I was a cr. HP Ryu for years before I decided I had to add a DP game in order to improve. I ate a lot of jump ins for it but now I have a solid AA DP game. Funny thing is that I only started doing this when I switched to Akuma last year. He has such a good whiff punishing normal with st. MK and converting off CH lights and mediums are really crucial to his game.
Remember when Chun-Li and Vega used to be footsies character ?
It is so much fun to outspace your opponent so much then lose because you can’t convert into anything meaningful without a 3 bars VT.
Chun still is a footsies character though
it’s just that footsies don’t mean much in this game unless you’re good at converting pokes into damage/momentum
