SFV Lounge: Cammy at the Falken bottom, Makoto is in final phases, Leo Alex is broken

I think we are getting all the characters at once or in rapid succession.

I’m at work now, ill send the key and keys for DLC when I get home, I have them saved on pc.

I don’t wanna stereotype myself.

Ipse dixit

I’m guessing you started at an easy/medium difficulty, and you cant change difficulty mid way through the game? I’ve heard the easy complaints a few times now. If i ever get my hands on the game i’ll make sure to start it at the highest difficulty level.

I started on the hardest available difficulty.

It should be noted I’m very good at devil may cry games. So I’m not the norm.

If they added free character select on all mission, that might make 5 the best.

I played every dmc except 5 the only reason I didn’t get 5 is we all know the real reason for hype drops next week, sekiro. I’ll pick up dmc5 when it’s on sale tho.

Edit plus I heard dmc5 was too easy

If we get Février or Satsuki I will buy them and shill Capcom for life.

The thing with me about DMC4 is that I found the enemies to be kind of tedious to fight. I’m not sure if it was because they wanted to offset Nero’s grab or what but it feels like the majority of the enemies in that game have either a block or some kind of gimmick to make them resistant to attacks (even the Frosts are immune to hit stun until you break their ice hands).

For me the fun of DMC is weaving your attacks together through enemy offense and it felt like DMC4 didn’t really play that way - too many shadow cloaks or shields. I replayed DMC4SE in prep for 5 and I still feel that way, though I do admit that I enjoyed it more this time knowing what to expect (and Legendary Dark Knight mode + Lady + Trish + Vergil make it a really really strong entry).

I think it is all kind of subjective though - if the enemies in 4 don’t bug you as much as they do then 4SE is really hard to beat in terms of content for instance - and I’m just fucking stoked that DMC5 is a game where I can’t easily place it around the highest tiers of character action games I have played.

Just to be clear, I’m talking about Beef Tenderloin vs Prime rib.

Both are fan-fucking-tactic.

I thought the enemies are pretty similiar in both games. 5 has a big variety of enemies, but most of them fight the same, so you kinda mash through them. Harder difficulties adjust this a little.

You have a point though. Nero is much more powerful than Dante in most fights, so when you balance enemies around him, that can have a waterfall effect.

Did you actually just put DmC above DMC1? …I’m so disappointed

Yeah it is an awesome problem to have, especially with the Bayo ports to Switch. Oh no, I have too many sick character action games to play, how do I choose??? I also remembered that Bayo 3 is in the pipeline.

If this is the year we get DMC5 and Bayo3 I’m gonna need a lot of new pants.

My list would have to go

DMC5
DMC4
DMC3
DMC1
DmC/DMC2

DMC1 has not aged that well in my opinion.

It’s very much the prototype for what the series evolved into, but action games have moved past it.

When it was new though, it was mind blowing.

GOAT action game is still Ninja Gaiden II.

Nothing to do with gun control. But you explode with assumptions, dodge away topics from conversations that challenge your point of view and then go on tirades like that. This is consistent behavior you exhibit when confronted. The problem is that instead of having to actually deal with ideas alien to you, you rather go places where people will basically cuddle you.

Which is unfortunate because the place you’ll go to has Frost who can’t break down anything past beeps and boops on SF5. Because the problem is you guys won’t really challenge each other here. That’s why anybody with a brain can’t really ban Cipher for trolling you guys: he gets panties in a bunch by pointing out random legitimate things that people get mad at. Instead of trying to have a conversation, we get the king of hubris telling everybody else in this thread “Don’t reply to Cipher’s post”, because god forbid you may read something you’d have to engage with.

This is why you guys are childish about this. What do you think stepping up to the guy and asking him to leave is? You ever wonder why bouncers seldom go kick people out by themselves? The moment you go to somebody and ask them to leave, you are threatening them with violence. They would rather you leave than have to do an incident report and call the cops, but they are there because they’ll put hands on you.

If Ricki has that restraining order with her, the guy is going to get all of one warning, be driven out nicely or physically and any time after that is not going to be a pleasant experience for him.

Here’s the thing, you guys are assuming these obsessed people aren’t already carrying. Him stalking is already threatening Ricki’s safety. What if he crosses a line? he is already crossing lines. Which is why this response of “Well…maybe if we just talk to him about how Ricki doesn’t want to…”. No, you don’t even let the stalker know there’s a chance for a conversation.

Reminds me way too much of parents that refuse to to teach their children self defense. You gotta prepare your kids for the world that’s actually out there, not the one you hope it’ll magically turn into through multiple readings of Harry Potter books (which hilariously enough has a bunch of kids with magical weapons…).

A lot of people looking to victimize pick targets they think assume won’t struggle. I have a little girl; you think she’s gonna be able to talk herself out of people wanting to hurt her? Some of y’all are just memeing at this point.

That’s why I can’t drop it from a pedestal. It birthed the series and I yeah I have nostalgia for it, but I think a lot of fans do so it’s rating gotta at least be mid-tier.

If we are including other character action games.

SS: Bayonetta 1, Bayonetta 2, Vanquish
S: DMC4SE, NG: Black
A: DMC5, DMC3SE, NG2,
B: DmCDE, God of War 2, God of War (2018), Ghost of Sparta
C: DMC1, God of War 1, God of War 3
D:God of War Ascension, Chains of Olympus
F: DMC2, NG3:RE

I’m sure I’m forgetting some.

Fair enough.

The rank “C” in my list probably undersells it a bit, those tiers are really just in relation to each other.

DMC1 is still a great game, and I would still give it a solid 8/10 today… I just think most other DMC games are better.

So, I brought my Switch to keep me entertained while in Amsterdam (yeah, no read light district, no weed/truffles, just playing in the hotel room). I’ve played arcade mode in Ultra SF2 for several days.
Yes, even the hardest difficulty is too easy, but it’s just so satisfying playing these older games. I suppose that it being simpler helps a lot, but AI is fun to play against.

And SF was never as brutal as it was in SF2. It just feels good punching people.
Hitting Honda’s headbut or Blanka’s ball with Sagat’s slow-mo, 5 hit tiger uppercut. So, good.

I think the misunderstanding here happened because, by the way things were worded, it sounded like the idea was to beat the shit out of Ricki’s stalker as soon as he showed up without even asking questions, instead of just firmly tell him to get the hell out, and then the conversation went over self-defense for some reason.

How about we focus on Final Round instead?
