SFV Lounge: Cammy at the Falken bottom, Makoto is in final phases, Leo Alex is broken

Now ill say this SFV encourages scrambles… Im guessing its their idea of making the game more exciting to watch?

This is why i love playing Sagat cuz i get to control somewhat… I never need to overextend myself on their wake up.

It trumps tiers for your average joe but when it’s Bonchan vs Daigo their player ability is close to a peak so character ability will end up playing a large factor

He definitely covers Karin’s bad matches. Like Frost said, doesn’t blow them out of the water, but doable and much safer ranges to play from. Plus Sagat is nice to use vs those characters as he actually has walk speed compared to Nash. Can do more precise movement around the screen rather than being locked into Nash dashing all over the screen. He can cover those matches with a character that fits his style better than Nash.

He’s definitely been switching around a lot likely due to off CPT season, but he was playing Sagat at Topanga League vs Trashbox’s Birdie and even was using Sagat vs Gachikun’s Rashid on the type arcade test a month ago.

Does he need to use Sagat vs Rashid? Probably not, but I like how comfortable he looked regardless and shows at that level the match is not a lose cause. I feel Sagat has great control over most matchups overall in this game (his shots with their data in a game without focus/parry is harder to deal with than people realize I feel), he’s just too honest to carry full solo.

Karin gets dunked on by Birdie and Sagat does not, so good call there and likely will bust the out the King for Birdie.

He won’t pick sagat first to cover bad matchups but nash. All three of his mains lose to menat easily, goodluck in the cpt, lol.

I think he will. I haven’t seen him use Nash in a long while and Sagat can do the job while fitting his style better.

If there’s anyone that can find a way to win bad matches though, it’s Bonchan so looking forward to what he does vs Menat. Menat is still neutrally cheap as hell, but at least she’s less like 3S Yun than she was in S3. More room to win if you stay her out than before when 2 triggers were guaranteed and s.HP ruined half the cast on its own.

At least in the US most of the US Menat mains have run away from her because of the nerfs so less Menats to deal with there any way.

In redbull tournament in november he counterpicked Daigo’s Guile and Gachikun’s rashid with nash ( both gachikun and bonchan thinks nash beats rashid). He’s mainly experienced with nash, 3 seasons of work, and rates him as stronger than sagat. So when cpt points count i think he’ll pull nash out first to cover his bad matchups for karin unless sagat does clearly better than nash (who does sagat even hard counter other than possibly birdie/gief?).

So arcade sfv is out today in Japan? Or was it yesterday? Or tomorrow?

I don’t understand time travel

Even during what may end up being her historical high water mark you didn’t really see a ton of them. She’s got just enough work involved in learning the important parts of her and requires enough of a patient ground game that she isn’t really a bandwagon kind of character.

With the VT1 changes you’ll still see her but it’ll be really dedicated players. Across CPT how many are there really? 3 immediately come to mind (Wong, Sako, ZJZ) and the way things stand right now I don’t think we will see many new ones.

The real answer if Bonchan wants to deal with Menat is to co-sponsor 801 or Smug to be his hit squad at any events where he believes in fate.

Japan is like 12 hours forward of the US so definitely should be a go by now.

True, but that was before S4 with Sagat’s QoL changes and such. Karin can definitely fight Guile (although she probably doesn’t like it before she gets meter) so could really just go with Karin vs him.

Sagat I believe does almost as well vs Akuma and Cammy as Falke does.

He does really well in this set vs Mago’s Cammy after a shaky start.

This is before the buffs and I’ve never seen him do better vs Tokido’s Akuma. Karin can win vs Akuma but she has to do a bit too much needle in the haystack neutral vs him and respect his air game too much. Sagat can slow down Akuma stuff much better.

With the QoL changes I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins those matches by now. Birdie and Gief are obvious wins. Maybe Nash wins them more, but I don’t know if the difference is so great that you would need to keep Nash in the mix.

Would speeding up Sagats HPDP to 5f make it consistently tag Birdie/Karin sweep hurtboxes before they retract? They can space them pretty easily vs him and he has no consistent punish

I think karins extended hurtbox is 4f after her sweep, but im sure Will could tell us better.

Sagat has a consistent punish. Its just hard to do lol. Reversal kara lp dp. Good luck not dying

Oh shit that works? I’ll have to grind it. I thought the kara itself was already past the point of where you’d need to punish.

I saw this last night before bed and wanted to cycle back to it.

For what its worth (to @Akhos, not Ve) I had a similar thought when you mentioned your frustration with being unable to make it out of pools even with the amount of time you put in.

Although the online in this game can be inconsistent as fuck putting time into Ranked is still the best tournament environment-like experience most of us are going to be able to get consistently. Hell you even see the pros online grinding away at Ranked a lot. Even if it can be painful sometimes at least we all have each other to commiserate with.

Not that I’m one to talk (I’ve played very little Ranked though I want to get back to it once I get a character under my feet again) but I just wanted to mention it as you’ve said doing better in tourneys is a goal. I think you can definitely do it if you can just get the practice in with short set adaptation.

Also FWIW I agree with Ve about you playing Menat. You seem to really enjoy that character. However having dipped my toe in that pool I know it is a fucking painful experience getting used to playing her and the VT1 change didn’t make it any more palatable.

Kara DP punish is definitely doable. Already practicing it in training mode. Only problem is of course the visual cue since you’ll have to immediately react to the block stun. Any later and the DP will whiff. It’s definitely doable and something you could get down Frost.

You can buffer the kara during the block stun. That definitely makes it more doable

If you save up super, super is a pretty easy punish for big damage as well.

The kara is 9. Dp is 4. And i gotta look at the notes again but i believe it got buffed in s4 to where if you kara into a dp it happens 1f faster

So it should punish stuff up to -12

Yeah I agree ranked is a great way to train for a tournament like setting outside of the lag. Battle lounges and sets are a great way to improve with your character over all.

It’s the reason a lot of top players complain about rank too, eventually ranked has some of the stresses of a tournament setting with none of the benefits to them. They’ve basically reached a point of diminishing returns.

Yea totally doable. But if you miss you die. So its probably something you’re only going to see from bonchan and character specialists.

Lol, I was mostly joking but it’s appreciated regardless.

Happens 1f faster from DPs, what a weird fucking buff lmao.
