Nah it won’t play second hit. St.hk can be used right now up close and it only goes through it’s initial hit, the animation changes on block, it’s -3.

The idea is it will still have less range than st.mk, but it gives him a beefy midrange option to throw post blocks or after scrappy trades, cause atm cr.hp just don’t reach or it is too slow. You could buff that, but the animation and hitbox already match IIRC, it’s just a stubby fierce. St.hk looks longer than it reaches atm.

it’d work the same as it does now, with a bit more range. Ain’t you ever seen it’s crouch block animation? The first hit goes through, and his second hit whiffs. It’s -3 on block.

I think sagat is the most committal character in the game.

When you throw a shot which he is balanced around you are committing to them way more than most. Or at least it feels that way because you either doing it to pressure a jump or make your way in.

It’s not just an accessory or another tool like everyone’s else fire ball, it’s not the best or the worst…but you are committing and to having to commit to something that much for a potential 70 damage? Over and over and over…to condition someone… and risk eating a jump in minimum 200 plus damage combo…well

His ground tools need to be strong even If it isnt rush down strong.

He should have better frame data on alot of his normals, he should hit hard up close…

But he should suck at approaching outside of TK and kara shots.

Yeah I know what it does I’m just trying to work out what your version does lol. I mean that’s only another 20 damage on st.mk. Faster I suppose.

I don’t think there’s much wrong with st.hk personally. Seems like a powerful but balanced poke.

St.mk to 9 would make it the same as Birdies.

Tiger knee is a real game changer, if they could make even the heavy plus 2 , we’d be talking.

Snag a st.hk > hp.dp/super, more advantage on hit to follow up with buttons or fireball, beat mids on trades.

Does a lot more for him that just the damage, creates some really threatening scenarios and can work as a deterrent to enable his plasma/st.mk.

Atm you land a st.mk and the best you can threaten is a second st.mk or a st.hk, which is pretty risky for him to press, easy whiff punish. Maybe a high shot, low shot when you want to risk it. Option pool doesn’t feel stable/threatening from neutral hits, IMO. It’s a good “fuck off stop walking at me” button, but when you want to lay down your options, kinda falls short for the on hit.

Capcom was scared about making Sagat in V and to avoid the burden of a good version of him they didn’t include him in S1, the playerbase saved him from the cut. Sagat is here now, but Capcom fear too. SFV is a balanced game, but they’ve reached that goal weakening most of the roster, the actual top tiers would be barely mid in previous SF, this thing annoys me to no end.

Not like Gat was much good outside of IV’s Vanilla when he could shit out damage either tbh. He got nerfed like every patch lmao.

I’m thinking though the range you want that to work is not going to be consistent to connect a DP and there’s nothing worse than a might, might not situation.

If that was in , the DP would have to link maxrange or it’s a no from me!

Edit: even then thinking about that , it would probably be too good. You’d have a master button that was better than every single button in every way.

Yeah if it won’t reach, you’re still getting a +7 situation instead of +2 to work your next option in. I mean idk about you but if I had a poke that gave me that, I don’t think I’d ever complain about my neutral pool again.

Well no shit , you’ve got a 8 frame hit confirm crush counter poke thats longer than any other button in the game, stops jumps and gives you enough time to dp if it whiffs.

Doesn’t CC on first hit connection. It’d just be similar to a Rashid cr.hp. Not that big a deal tbh, he’s a character who deservedly needs fat normals, it’s what he’s known for.

But it does on the second, so you’ve filled in the gap where it’s weak. I think that’s too good.

It’s gonna whiff at ranges where the second hit connects on crouch so I don’t see the issue tbh, highly doubt that’s insta top tier. There’s obviously still gonna be a range where it has a dead spot, it’s just increasing the initial box by like 2 squares. Cause atm it’s pretty spot on with his st.mp range, or just below. Which is pretty garbage.

I feel like Gat needs max distance Cr.Mk XX DP. I still can’t believe Capcom won’t give it to him. St.Hk hitting crouchers would be fun, but Capcom won’t allow him to dominate Zangief anymore than he already is. They could buff his Cr.Hp but they just won’t.

I think his most important change needed is knocking 1f of disadvantage off of knees, if someone has a 3f you may as well not use the cunts atm. MK Knee -2 spacing just seems random to me. Just decides what it wants to be.

Like you said it’s pretty much Rashid cr.hp, which starts up 2 frames slower and recovers 5 frames slower.

The irony of me ending up with a button better than that button… the button from hell. I wake up swinging my arms at night shouting “hey ya”

He’s fucking Gat like I am not opposed to a neutral character having a button that’s godlike and better than Rashid’s, it’s what he should excel at 100%. His buttons should feel powerful, or at least a select few. St.mk is in a good place right now, not a fan of cr.hp power level but it deffo gets the job done in midrange.

He has this range just shy of st.mp where st.lk is really his only smart choice, and when he’s in that he feels a little helpless against some of characters with solid mid poke choices, I’d say cr.hp but it’s just fucking slow. I’ll make do with a cr.hp start-up change tbh. But atm, have to hold it or backdash out to move into st.mk ranges. Really don’t think the King should feel like that.
