He’s alright he might need some adjustments to his fierce buttons or crmk range though. Everything else is pretty good.
Everytime I deal with Kage’s stupid shit I remember why I hate that people think he’s bad. You can’t take more than 2 combos from him without dying, his AA is the most busted of all of the shotos so Falke basically can’t jump at him at all (she can even jump at Akuma/Ryu more easily) and his VT1 especially is just plus frame city and forces you to V Reversal to not die in…2 combos.
His j.MK has a stupid arc also that’s really good for just yolo fishing for cross ups and his j.HK is like Cody’s and Ed’s where it just reaches far as fuck and can just use to fish for frame advantage if people are sleeping on the ground game.
Same thing could be said for Alex though.

Kage is made to play raggo. I think Poongko embodies the characters intended design perfectly in his play. You have to just go nuts.
You gotta jump, you have to just dash, your block red chip options are all solid so you just throw things out there. You want to just toss the VSkills out to rush into VT and then rush them with the bullshit.
He’s very akin to Vs design in general, it’s deffo how they wanted him to play out.
You don’t need to jump in kage since his neutral is subpar. And his anti air options are worse than akuma’s, Cr hp trades if you use it even slightly late. And he gets no meaty options after dp like ken and akuma do.
The char is all vt1 set ups, garbage otherwise, and the only time he does big damage is when he hits you with his stubby as fuck Cr hp which only combos on counter hits.

His block routes let him down atm, counter-hits don’t mean much, he has to give up advantage too soon, his tick throw situations aren’t too stellar.
If his fierces reached further out so he could snag HK.Stomp conversions more often, he’d be a lot scarier once he started baiting out mistakes in tandem with his throw game. All HK.Stomp block pressure is basically a gimmick, you can just delay jab from mids at a certain timing.
He has very solid ground game and Falke can’t throw out low commitment buttons at the range that he wants to walk in. Once he walks within j.MK range he controls the neutral.
He can fish V Skill from a range that I can’t effectively low poke low profile under it so it’s free fishing, if he’s close to trigger it’s basically a free VTC and doing the wrong thing generally at that range means he’s in and I’m dealing with plus 3s and walk throws until I die or burn my trigger away.
Like even vs Akuma and Ryu there’s a range where I can fish with j.MP and air fireball that’s tough for them to contest and allows me jumps which Falke does need as she doesn’t have any plus buttons from a range and it’s also part of her low commitment zoning. Kage unfortunately has really dumb ass flush DPs that always hit for clean damage no matter where I jump from so basically an Ultra Bronze can AA me as effectively as a Super Diamond Kage can which isn’t possible with Akuma, Ken or Ryu.
Falke is a character that pretty much can sit on the other shotos with only Sakura giving her a bit of trouble because of walk speed and Ken because every combo carries to the dead corner. If Kage can give Falke more problems than any of the other shotos, he definitely has to be solid at the minimum.

Again, there is air blocking in UNIST, it’s just that there are attacks that cannot be air blocked… most of them… can’t even think of one off the top of my head, I think Yuzu slashes are air blockable, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Yeah you don’t need it. Her standing 50/50 stuff has great corner push any way and gives you free meaty/shimmy. If you push them into the corner you get S1/2 style easy walk under stuff back. Just learn the VT2 stuff and push them to corner with EX kunai stuff and you’ll be fine.
His EX dp can hit you out of air full damage 24/7, doesn’t care where you at , that shit will clip you with all the hits. The meterless versions are like Ryu ones, but he don’t have that cr.HP. Frost and Jin are right, Kage is made to be played in full unga mode, once he’s in VS range he’s scarier without a good low option. Once he pop up VT1 even go for a low becomes risky and the damage potential coming from it’s huge.

Remember in both games there are multiple attacks that are air unblockable and ones that are air blockable.
Rule of thumb is usual: Projectiles don’t need Barrier, Physical attacks do.
