SFIII 3rd Strike (SUPERCADE/GGPO/nFBA,etc) Palmod palettes fair

Thx for letting me know, should be fixed now.

Made a Yun based off Grimmjow Jeagerjaquesā€™ ā€œreleased formā€ from Bleach. Since Yun has a stubborn palette makeup, itā€™s not an exact match(e.g., same hair color). If you watch the anime or read the manga, but havenā€™t gotten to this point, donā€™t click the spoiler tag. If you have progressed far enough or arenā€™t interested in Bleach, have at it.

I think I did a decent job of giving all colors a fair representation, itā€™s nice how Palmod allows you to edit the various nuances of a character. Third image, top row is an EX Shoulder while the bottom row has a couple Genei-Jin caps.

Same as always, if for some wild reason someone wants the ACT file, send me a PM.

I just downloaded the program and Iā€™ve been playing around with it so far. From my understanding, you have to edit all 64 squares for one outfit? If so, this isnā€™t as easy as color edit in CvS2.

Only edit as much as you want. Most of my edits only involve 20-30 color changes.

Iā€™ll upload these when I get back home

Nice EFF! :woot:

My first go with the program. I might edit it more or change the entire thing if I donā€™t get lazy.

well you can select several sqaures at once by holding down ctrl. then you can change their values at the same time

Thanks, thatā€™s definitely gonna save time on my next character.

At the moment, Iā€™m still changing my MAME so it can read the new character colors.

Is it possible to enter number values for the color you want? In either the Edit HSL or Edit RGB boxes, I know what I want to enter, but it doesnā€™t stay if I click somewhere else. Only way for me to change colors is by dragging 1 of the 3 bars. It would be much easier if I could just type in all my colorsā€™ numbers.

ok rainy sunday + exhaustion = I made some new palettes.

download it here

I made a new ken as I couldnā€™t stand some of his normal pals, plus made a port of the DC only pal, the beige gi one
I fixed a couple pixels on my brown ibuki they were showing up when she lands, and I made a port of the console only violet ibuki (I tried to download yours EveryFlowerFlow, but it came out corrupt)

otherwise, I made portraits for, Ramzaā€™s port of blue/grey - console gouki, red and black ports of console necros by EveryFF.

ok, some godd news should pop up here sooner or later, back to work, Iā€™m out.

Thanks Alien Nose Job!

Yeah THX!

hereā€™s a makoto

hereā€™s the .act file

hey Poot, very nice as always
love the shades on her skin, never tried to edit her, damn, she looks very easy to tweak !
but wtf are all the colours at the bottom of her pal?
there must be at least two rows and I have no idea what it is.

what happpened to your pink yang? looked promising, can we try it?

I did a few pals (along with my best oro pal ever !), rainy days again plus too much work, and I discovered a bug in most of oroā€™s original palettes, the ones by capcom, yeah, they forgot to change a colour that shows up on his face when MP/HP/EX srk

so Iā€™ll edit all my palettes, and post fixed versions in a while, not only oroā€™s but every char I did Iā€™ll check for bugs, plus other cool stuff.

'later

yeah she has a lot of extras and i canā€™t figure out what theyā€™re for. iā€™ve been playing 3rd strike with that color and iā€™ve been looking for anything that looks off but so far i havenā€™t found anything.

i updated the post with pink yang. hereā€™s his act http://rapidshare.com/files/139822344/yang_HK.ACT.html

yo thanks for the pal

back in a week or so with comments and new shit

A piece of info regarding Makotoā€™s bottom 2 rows -

The tan / light brown ones are for the dust off her QCF+P. Iā€™m not exactly sure what the other grey ones are, could be something similar I guess, or even part of the same dust cloud, who knows. I canā€™t imagine there would be more colours donated to that than her skin tones though.

One way to check is to turn them all green for example, then do a test play through with her to see what comes up green, I just havenā€™t done it yet

[UPDATE] this is bullshit - dust colours are the same for every character, I found them in the hexdata elsewhere.

ha, thanks for the info LET !

actually, referencing extra colours in palettes throught a sceenshot/map was something I wanted to start here, with everyoneā€™s help, so that we can do clean palettes without making semi-fix over semi-fix and permanently re-release files (like Iā€™ll do soon)

ok, two-three more days of very hard work, and then I may take holidays and spend an afternoon to fix my pals and rerelease everything+ new stuff

Cool, I can start that then if youā€™d like?

Iā€™ve done full edits for most characters and a few randoms here and there. And as good as Palmod is it can be confusing as not all hues are shown in every drawn frame of animation. That can be tricky. For example Ryu/Kenā€™s two lightest skin tones will not flash when highlighted, which means I have to go back into MAME do a sweep and take a snapshot for reference. No big deal but it makes the whole process quite time consuming.

Because of that Iā€™ve been months so far and am still only a little over half way through making 100% new colours for every costume, every character. Iā€™d like to wait till Iā€™m done before releasing it, to spur me on to actually finish.

My main obstacle however, is that certain colours, like Chunā€™s darkest skin tone on her thunderthighs is shared by her bracelets. That makes it very hard to get convincing light-skinned legs. So a complete key or legend for every colour in characters with snapshots would be really helpful to people I think, with some added notes here and there. I find that selecting 20 colours or more, then shifting hues can result in glitches, like certain shadows ending up lighter than their neighbours when they should in fact be darker.

I hope all this makes sense, and I donā€™t mind starting it off while youā€™re away but like everyone else I have a full time job and other commitments so I donā€™t get to work on bits every day or even every week.

Iā€™ve learnt alot about colour theory, shading and general sprite art techniques (of the capcom artists) while playing with this, so Iā€™m glad youā€™re taking it as seriously as me!

Well, Iā€™ve done about 11 or 12 of the characters so far, so with 19 characters + shin Gouki and 7 costumes each thatā€™s, what, 135 pallettes, add the portraits to double that and it fast becomes no small feat. But I have to post SOMETHING after a stupid huge bulk of text so hereā€™s a de-whoreā€™d (or maybe re-whoreā€™d!) chun :bgrin:
