SFIII 3rd Strike (SUPERCADE/GGPO/nFBA,etc) Palmod palettes fair

ok, hi everybody, it seems its time to list every bug concerning 3S in PALMOD… mmm latest version should be…
SuupaBuu is working on a new build, mainly for MVC2, but still it would be nice and helpful to address him the full list of bugs concerning 3S so that he has a chance to work them out at the same time.
So, please, report bugs here, I’ll PM him the full list when we’ve covered everything…
mmm, but now there’s a little something to point out: here we’re using an earlier build of PALMOD because more bugs got in later versions (for 3S), and we’re not gonna address him bugs from an already outdated version, so, please try the later PALMOD that I upload here (as I don’t remember where I got it)

latest PALMOD (for testing purposes)

I’m tired, so I’ll edit my first post later with the bug list so far (and remove it when we’re done with it), so for now, I start it in this post

Bugs on the latest PALMOD :

  • protraits previews are screwed, one colour is missing, background colour appears instead.

(nice work pootnannies !)

thanks. here’s some more

he’s got the same palette on both pictures but these backgrounds help it stand out more.

i’ve been making a bunch of these lately and plan on posting up the file once everything is done. gotta fix some stray pixels on a couple sean ones i did first

EDIT: damn, as you can see i missed a box and now two pixels on his right collar bone are with. i fixed it but that’s the stuff i’m talking about. i’m trying to catch all of it before i release the palette for download

as far as bugs go, whenever i select multiple squares on the color palette, changing something like the hue for example, will also change other values that it shouldn’t, like saturation and luminance.
also, i notice that when i tweak a color to where it should be and then select another square, the one i just did will change slightly in color. it’s very frustrating.

EDIT: sorry, that was for the old Palmod. i downloaded the new one and loaded my file and all i can say is that it’s not usable. after selecting a square to edit, sliding any of the bars to the left will COMPLETELY change the color, even if you move it by one degree.

ah yeah, thanks pootnannies, I checked, you’re right… I PMed SuupaBuu, now, it’s up to him, I don’t know if he’s so interested in 3S anymore. We’ll see.

here’s some more

Took a stab at it.

other ingame

yeaaaaah nice, guys!
pootnannies, may I try to remix your oro? I feel like trying something different using your hard work  (if I find time)… I mean, are you gonna upload the pals or should I give you my msn? (no hurry anyway as I’m litterally drowning under work)

here’s the file: http://rapidshare.com/files/91751899/51.html

keep in mind that there are a bunch of other edits in there that i haven’t posted yet because they’re not finished or still need tweaking, but if you want to finish them up don’t hesitate to post the results here

EDIT: forgot to complement EFF on his edits. i especially like the ryu with the greenish looking gi:tup:

ha thanks man, I’ll give it a try when I have some time
and then maybe try to remix some

not a really bad idea to upload your patched 51 file (except for the size)… for lazy people, it can be pretty convenient, I’ll just save the pals I want after trying them ingame (just have to check the mapping first)and then patch my 51 with them… smart

i put the whole thing because when i was messing around with the palettes and saved an oro one, i brought it back in and alex’s lp colors got replace without me knowing it. that’s why i had to COMPLETELY redo that color for him. i tryed matching his original colors at first but it looked too boring. anyways, yeah this way you can have separate 51’s if you don’t want to replace an existing set of colors for any given characters. plus i’m a lazy sob myself

ooooooook

here we are peeps, with some good news
Obviously, SuupaBuu is still interested in 3S, so he’s gonna try to fix everything for our own collective pleasure.
He took care of the portraits plus weird colour change whenever you touch the hue on the latests buggy PALMOD, but now he’d like to know every bug we can find in the old build that we’re using here, to avoid having them pop up in his next build.

So, here it is, ladies and gents, please report any bug you can find in the old PALMOD we’re all using here (if you just arrived and skipped all the previous posts, you can download the Palmod I’m talking about in the first post of this thread):

TEMPORARY BUG LIST :

-Yun’s portrait diplayed Ryu’s (it had been fixed in the latest PALMOD, just mentioning it for memory)

-also :

mmm I dunno, I did some testing myself, and I can’t say for sure these’re real bugs or not …

  1. changing multiple colours at the same time doesn’t change other values when you’re done changing the Hue of a group, and you click on one single colour that was part of this group, the two other values of this colour -sat, lum- didn’t move.
I tried changing a group to a certain Hue, wrote down all values for one particular colour (before and after change), and ended up with all the same exact values when I changed only this colour’s Hue.
But I recognise it “looks” like the sat is changing but obviously, there’s no bug here, since you change a colour, it just looks brighter or more saturated…
I’m not sure, anyone else has an opinion on that???
  2. when you tweak a colour and then click on another one and click again on the colour you changed, the colour component you just tweaked changed a bit, that’s true, but after some checking, it never changes to the point that the RGB values change, so, yes, the Hue, or Sat, or Lum values change a bit from where you had set it, but in the end it doesn’t look like it’s chaging your colour… right???
btw pootnannies, did you check the “show 32” (bits I guess) box?

I’d be glad if someone did some more testing… I’m not completely sure there… any other bug???

i did some more testing and when i selected seven or more boxes and changed the hue drastically, luminance did change by about 3 or 4 points. however this was with “show 32” off. i tried it again with it checked and i could not find a problem. i don’t know why i didn’t have this checked from the beginning:looney:

i’ve gotten very accustomed to the program so it’s hard to find any other bugs if there are any more. if suupabuu is willing to add some features that would be awesome. i would like to be able to edit background colors too. not color every pixel but lighten or darken the stage and maybe change the color tone. don’t know if this is hard to program as i’m not a programmer and i really don’t understand much about it.

ha ok, thanks for the heads up… I’ll wait a bit more to see if someone else comes up with some bug…

As for additional features, SuupaBuu said he was interested in replacing backgrounds of games (he said that in the MVC2 thread) but that he didnt’ want to make any promises… I doubt we’ll see anything aimed that way, but you never know.
(at least for new features, with a fixed PALMOD we’ll be able to copy-paste colours which is about the only improvement I can see)

btw I am completely ignorant of programming but if someone with programming knowledge is passing by and wants to help Suupabuu with PALMOD, he’s welcome
cheers

ok, new oro palette on the way, remixed from one of Pootnannies pals, one more colour to fix, plus the portrait to make and I’ll be done and ready to upload it.

mmm I wonder if a dark belt wouldn’t look better given the luminance of oro’s rags… mmm

EDIT :::: edited the first post to add a link to the full list of DC palettes

that’s a really nice shade of red. reminds me of tomato soup! i also like that off-white color you gave his rags. yeah, i think a darker best color would look cool too. thanks for that DC palettes link:tup:

gave makoto some “america, fuck yeah!” colors

That yellow n black Sean would look better if the gloves didnt clash.

Commercial break

Tired of getting your ass kicked by Ken and its shoto pawa?
Here is the answer to all your troubles :
Feel overconfident with your new oro-red-like-ken palette…
Wear it! And find new strenghts.
Now it’s your turn to kick butts (fuck yeah!)

in other terms, here’s the final state of that red oro pal :

download it here, packed together with the portrait file :

http://rapidshare.com/files/92727403/OroRED.zip.html

btw, wow Pootnannies, you did a lot again… yeah, I like the yellow/black sean… dunno about the gloves… I would have to see it move to know if it’s cool or if it gets in the way…
cheers !

Decided to take a stab at Yun and another Yang. The silver Yun has silver EX shadows while the Yang has black ones, which surprisingly work well. Having trouble deciding on the forearm wraps, probably going to alternate as always.

If anyone wants to fool around with the palettes I made just send me a pm, I’ll have to send the ACT files through Aim or MSN.
