That’s all I got from when the prog first came out. If the opponent could see your customs I would’ve gone nuts with Palmod. Seems kinda pointless to humour myself so I haven’t bothered since then. I think I’ll mess around a bit more soon though.

is there a way to take these images and turn them into the ACT files?

I’m pretty sure that every one is playing 3S with nFBA now (well… I am) and that’s a good thing, but as you all have noticed, nFBA doesn’t have the ā€œdisable CRC checkā€ option included, thus our custom pals are not usable with it (well, offline they are but not online).
I’m sure everyone is pissed off with the idea of swapping regular/custom 51 files everytime they want to play online (and then what use is it to have custom pals if u cant use them online…?) and that it’s the main reason for everyone to stop making palettes.
So…
I explained the problem to 0746 who gently came u with an easy solution. In a word, there are 3 values to change in the sources (takes 30 seconds) and then you just have to recompile nFBA… and it should work. We could use custom pals online!
I’ll post up the ā€œmethodā€ once I’m sure it works, along with a recompiled/moded nFBA as soon as I’ll find the time… heck is, I’m very busy for the time being, but I’ll try to find half an hour to do that.
So, don’t fear and keep the palettes coming :slight_smile:

I was going to ask about nFBA a couple days ago before I tested it. But when I tried, it gives an error message, then I just click OK and the game loads as it normally does, custom palettes and all. The downside is that nFBA can’t load unzipped rom folders (unlike MAME), so it helps to have a separate 51 file to modify without affecting anything, then copy and paste it into the zipped folder and wait for it to recompress whenever you want to add more customized palettes. I dunno how much sense this makes because I’m not sure of the details.

I just installed the boss patch, so I had some fun with Spam Gouki and couldn’t help it but do some more repaletting.

I fixed the normal Shin Gouki palette that had the 2nd impact dark leg syndrome, more or less completely orange hair and the same exact complexion as the HP pal of the normal gouki in 3S.
So, I fixed the leg, and did the hair and skin accordingly to the Shin Gouki portrait.
I’ll upload it when I’ve decided wether or not I add some colour in his shadows.

Ok, on another note, I made some more testing and it turns out I was supa wrong and that’s a good thing.
no need to fix nFBA or anything to get palettes to work online…
you just have to be quick at pressing ok (or ā€œenterā€ on your keyboard) when the error message pops up.
I must have been unlucky the day I tested it 'cause I had tons of desynchs and now it plays perfectly, so fear not and play (if you hadn"t figured it out yet).
I won’t have to recompile nFBA (yeah).

Is there any way to get Palmod to work for 2I? I tried patching/replacing the 51 file for that romset but nothing happens

ok I made up my mind about this shin gouki palette, no coloured shadows, it stays as is, plus I did a grey 12 palette close copy of a DC palette (except i toned down the turquoise lines) since he suffers from a few eye breaking palettes.

edited the first post with a new link to PALMOD, btw, I came accross SuupaBuu a few weeks ago, basically the new build is done for 3S he just wanted to add a few more entries (I asked for) and finish the (huge) MVC2 work, so it should be out sooner or later (and we’ll be able to copy paste values at last, ho yeah)

Is there a way to spot a patched ROM on que?
I know if someone had patched they’d usually patch more than one character.

Anywho, my question is about Poison.
I’m using the Japanese set with the Asia BIOS.
Instead of Pink-haired Poison, I get her Final Fight color swap–Roxy.

Does Poison just use the Roxy color palette in the Asia BIOS?
Perhaps it’s just the game version?
In the arcades and PS2 I’ve only ever seen her with pink hair with Default Hugo.
I’m not sure the versions the arcade and PS2 versions use.
Other than I’m sure they both used US BIOS.

I figured it was worth asking somewhere.

    somehow… interesting… I have absolutely no answer to your question… don’t have a clue to where else you could ask either…
    btw, as it is vagely related to your question… you can’t change poison’s palettes with PALMOD, SuupaBuu didn’t implement her, so it could be possible if someone helped Suupa on this… or asked him reaaaaally nicely.
