SFIII 3rd Strike (SUPERCADE/GGPO/nFBA,etc) Palmod palettes fair

yeah i extracted that stuff but i just need to know some of the basic stuff on how to change the palette’s colour.

EDIT: i’ll add u on msn pootnannies, that is, if ur willing to help, and yes, i am a dumbass at some things like this

i’ll try and help. go ahead and add me

k, i added u

You can’t get much better help that Poot I reckon

On that matter it’s my turn to ask for help… I made some Ibukis around 10 months ago I think and they’re ok but a few suffer really bad from flat syndrome and I generally don’t think they’re quite there yet.

I know some stuff to fix easy, but I’d really appreciate feedback on them from anyone on here.
Only thing I’m trying to keep is sensible colours (so no pink hair or yellow costume etc) and originality, I managed to make 7 colours that are mostly different to the console / arcade colours but I’m still not finished here.

Can anyone help?

Feel free to make edits directly and upload/paste an ACT code, or even just an image preview would be cool if you have any ideas… (I’ve jumped straight on fixing that MK red!)

those Ibuki palette’s look cool man. and thnx for helping me pootnannies. while i am in South Australia for a week and a half i will try to make a decent palette.

i’m really digging the brown one and the black one.

generally to make the sprite look less flat use a different color for the shadows so it can be more dynamic. although, to be honest, your style of coloring has a real soft look to it and it might lose that if you use colorful shadows.

no problem. can’t wait to see what you come up with.

hey, looks cool !

Ibuki is a pain to colour I must say.

I need to try them to to tell you what I think/and edit if I find time (but I really lack this right now).

cheers

Thanks, I went back to Ibuki and tweaked her up, felt like changing them all but hardly did just fixed the shadows mostly. The grey one is alot darker now though. I may post previews later on, but I figure it’d be better to implement all these changes with other characters together in one like.

I also uploaded Remy, even though no-one plays him. Again, I’ll be going back to all of these characters when they’re done and reduxing them. It feels like a year since I started playing with palmod, I think my tastes have changed with colours quite a bit since then, I keep getting new ideas but have no where near enough time to implement them!

I made these over 6 months ago, but just noticed that the LK colour is like a transplant of Gouki’s 10th colour in SF4, funny coincidence…

Hey Let, I told you what I thought of your ibukis by msn (if you got the message) so I’ll stick to remy.

Tried him fast.
Excellent work!

I really like the MP, HP, HK, and could grow fond of the MK one too.
the others are good.
I don’t like the EX one much (tastes again), but it’s a nice try at something different.
Plus this Ex one has flat trousers (he’s the only one that suffers this, easy to fix)

On a more general note, I think they all look too much alike and I would further differenciate them, but that’ just me.

I didn’t check for glitches as I dont remeber when they appear, but I trust you on doing good.

If I ever get some time I’ll try and remix some as I find them inspiring (I’ll try to slip in slightly coloured shadows) as he’s easier to edit than Ibuki.

Makes me think most of your Shakesporo’s had the two colours that appear on top of his head (one when standing the other when crouching) too bright (as in capcom’s original palettes), well, if you want to make it look better (still just my opinion).Hope you see what I mean.
Poot, I haven’t checked yours yet, but I’ll try them rather than look at the screens.Looked good.

MK red is stylish…I’m loving those Ibuki ones. I was always bothered by Ibuki’s pasty skin color in the arcade version for her HK color. However the purple with her light skin looks perfect…

Good job, I’ve always been a lime green/gold ibuki.

:tup::clapdos:

Hmm, made a few changes which you can see if you compare, some more obvious than others:

Thanks for the feedback - I’ve been thinking though, I don’t know if the above are improvements or a diversion, I can’t tell!

I think that in some cases I will leave the palettes as is, I do think some of it boils down to taste, as Oros and Remy’s colours were deliberately flat looking sometimes, you know how some materials or skin can look like that? Like this (ignore the weirdos just see the shading):

http://z.about.com/d/mensfashion/1/0/L/n/84807422_10.jpg

and how different the shading on top and bottom here just from different material:

I’m probably going to far into this after all, but I would rater keep the Remy EX as is because it works really well on my screen - but this is a laptop though - it looks TOTALLY flat on my desktop monitor at work, which over saturates and over contrasts, I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Of course, please remix and play around, it’s something I’ll go back and do to all once I’ve finished them all for sure!

Red Ibuki shadows look crisp, much better imo. Gray Ibuki has improved by far. It was my least favorite before because it lacked shadows and was too bright. I dunno if it’s me, but it looks like you made it a lighter shade of purple this time. Dunno if it’s the pose, but I liked the earlier one.

Cool, if you like it that’s persuaded me, I think the grey definitely looks better. Do you mean the MP or HP purple? I made it more colourful but yes I think the older one looked better, I’ll darken it and see how it looks.

i made a blue and white ibuki too a long time ago but your’s looks better

HP purple

Hmm, now I don’t like it, it’s too SF2 hyper fighting so i changed it up a bit more:

Though Poot likes it, which makes me think twice…

[EDIT] it’s a work in progress, got it looking much better and much less flat but I need to spend more time on it and I’m super tired right now. Thanks for the help all.

this is the one i’m talking about. it’s a lot more blue though. i need to darken her skin like you did. would make her a little more dynamic.

Looks incredibly good now. I like it actually!

:lovin:

ok, got your point, you achieved that and it was obvious on your chuns, but here I think you could do better in that direction… well, if the original sprites allow such stretching in the shades to make the fabric look different.
Actually, after tweaking oro a lot, I don’t think you can do what you did to chun to him. Dunno about Remy.(and yes, you screen can completely change the way graphics look, then it’s very dfficult to get it to look like you originally wanted it to)
and btw, you later ibuki looks good.

I do actually really like that one Poot, the shading is very nice. I know what you mean though, I don’t think a pasty Ibuki look ‘kunoichi’ enough

I didn’t post where I got to last night, but I added alot more grey and a touch of green to make it less purple, it definitely looks better than the one I made above.

Thanks for the feedback Alien, I will go back and see how I can better tweak things, I wish I could see what it looked like your screen though, it looks awful on the Samsung, HP and Dell monitors at work. I think VAIO screens must be more subdued or something, which doesn’t help me here.
