you didn’t get my point, copy/paste is great (especially to post palettes on here, you’re right), but the ability to save and load ACT files is great to work up a palette, and save multiple times under different numbers so you can easily go back to a previous state if you screwed.
Sure, you can do the same thing creating a text file , adding a name on top of the code you’ll copy/paste, but it’s somewhat easier to save and keep track with a simple save to ACT system built in PALMOD.
I mean, I’d like to have both c/p and ACT if possible.
Ahh, I see what you meant by this now and yes, that is a good thing to keep. I tend to do that without ACT files as such - I usually have Palmod open twice, one program is the default 51 file, the other program is my edited 51 pallette, so I tend to copy and paste and store backups in the default window of palmod.
I keep it as a backup with all the original pallettes in, but I often use it to store WIP edits. If you make changes, or copy and paste a previous ‘state’ you can click apply to keep it there for the moment. I do that but don’t go ahead and patch, so then I can store these as WIPs until I’m happy I’ve finished them. Then when I have I just re-load the old file again.
I also find it useful to reference the original art and shading etc so I can check which tones should be lighter than which etc.
I probably didn’t need a preview but just to clarify, above is my backed up 51 file, below is the one that I’m editing (that Mame uses). I find this is a really handy way to work. It also means I can compare and switch between different characters quickly, so if I want to compare a black gi version of Ryu to a black gi version of ken, I can see them in comparison nice and quickly.
I tried out the new palmod and it seems better but it is not. There is a bug with it. I have put the EX color on LK, my dark alex on MK, LETs dark alex on HK & the shadow alex on EX. as well as two others from this thread onto MP & HP. Well besides EX all the others are not where they are supposed to be. for instance MK color shows on LK and its just all mixed up so im switching back.
Did you read Suupa’s comments on the previous page??
It’s not tested and finished for 3S so I think we owe him the time to fix any bugs etc he’s not happy with. If you slam the release too much he could be put off working on it and I think we all agree that would be a great shame, especially as there are some great features on the way.
yea i read it but i also read alien nose job’s post with teh download so I thought it was all set or something. But yeah if thats the case then sorry about that. Well at least we know whats wrong with it. :arazz:
Sorry I could not get it in last week. There were too many minor nuisances that slowed down the release. This version should work as good as the older version. I’ve added the following extra images:
Ken’s DP flames
Urien’s intro
Oro’s Tengu Stones
I am going to touch up the “scrambling” program if some of you like to find palettes you want to modify (with no images though ).
I’ve tried to find as much bugs as I can. If you guys run into any bugs, me know! And thanks to Ia-Ia-Pazuzu for letting me know I had the buttons wrong. I probably would’ve passed that right up, lol. Any questions, let me know. I’ll keep an eye out. Peace!
I wanted to reply sooner but I’ve been mega busy. This release is great, definitely using this from now on.
Nice that portraits are fixed, and I’ve been playing with the extras, it’s an awesome feature and works exactly as I imagined!
I also like how we now have much more options when choosing colours, I like the RGB sliders which can come in handy, as does the ‘get colour’. People just need to check the ‘auto-set colour on adjust’ button to start off with.
The extras work great, I thought there would be 7 different versions of them but instead there’s just the one - not sure why I expected there to be 7 though, I just assumed. I’ll post some up soon as I get a chance.
Thanks again Suupa, this is now the definitive release in so many ways - you shouldn’t apologise for passing it on later than you wanted, these things take time and we’re all very grateful!
The scrambling program sounds like a godsend, I’d love to check it out if it’s easy enough to use - we could add all the extras in then, like aegis reflectors and all sorts!
^ editing the Aegis? Hmmm…that makes me think of editing other things like fireball colors, fireball SAs, Elenas aura around her SAIII, Qs SAIII & so on. Meter color for SAs like Q III, Yun III & Makoto III or meter color while building it. Maybe even the color of the effect when someone gets hit. Of course thats really editing the game. :looney:
^
exactly what let said (including the I’m mega busy part)
(and special thanks for the tengu objects )
just had to play with it a bit, despite extreme lack of time due to numerous works with the same deadline…
I noticed a bug, its not very precise yet, but, sometimes, when I click on a colour to select it, and then go to an RGB/HSL slider, the preview disappears when I hit the said slider, happened a few times, I’ll try to check if I can be more precise on when it happens.
(though, the preview comes back if I move to another character)
Hey Alien, I never said that :wgrin: but I did in as many words.
I didn’t find any bugs but I loved playing with this and yes, Ia-Ia, it seems we can literally change everything from stat bars to title screens, so long as we use the scramble program to find them.
On that note it may be worth us creating a list, together, that people can add things to and we can keep track of.
I’ll attach a notepad file later on with a good layout for keeping track of things we can check as we go along.
How easy is the scramble program to use Suupa? Is this realistic?
I changed this ugly bluish tengu object into something that suits more my taste… I’ve been harrassing SuupaBuu about it since last year, so I had to make it now.
in oro’s extras, select all boxes for the object called “rocket” (which turns out to be a robot after closer look) and paste the above code if you also can’t stand the original blue colour.
now it blends more wirth the rest, but I prefer it.
I also started a new oro, I’ll show it when I’ll have my mind set about it…
That’s cool Alien - it literally looks like one of hose 50s toy robots now, much better! I always thought it was a mini satellite though, I’m still not sure what the hell it is, it has no head!
Either way, I like it Alien - I had to edit the whole lot myself, especially that big turkey nugget stone! :woot:
I’ve finished editing all the extras we can so far and are happy with them. I’m wondering if with a little programming we can in actual fact edit 7 versions of these things… Sean’s basketball is the same in every default colour but I was able to make 7 versions, it got me wondering - but I’m still cool if there’s only one.
I’ve nearly finished the full list of extras that I’m going to look to ripping and incorporating. Suupa is releasing the scrambler soon so with some time I can get started on little bits here and there. I’ll update in a moment with an attachment that people can add anything I’ve missed.
EDIT - Here it is. Please take a look through the characters you know well and add/edit anything. If you choose to do that, please send a PM rather than on here so it doesn’t clog the thread, I do that with my replies enough already!
I’ll be sure to update the latest document on my posts if needs be.
EX and parry pallettes have 2 pallettes each (a light and a medium) that flash intermittently, I don’t think they’re in this version though.
I see Suupa put an EX looking extra pallette in this version, but from editing in previous Palmod versions I could see it was wrong and stayed away from it.
Thanks for the mention - if you open your colours on a previous palmod (check our earlier posts for a link) then the EX and parry editing should work fine. I guess Suupa left it for now.
The only other bug I noticed was something in Oro’s extra pallette editing, the colour slider bars just went demented and locked up.
oro is the king of the disco, we all know that, so I decided to come back with a funky fresh tengu set…
like it or not… I can understand
btw, I didn’t picture it, but I doscvered that oro’s turtle is linked to one (or more) tengu object(s) looked a bit odd, turtle on acid or something… whatever
(and yes, that’s my new oro pal… mmm I’ll think of it a bit longer though)
I tried to test it out for any new bugs. Hopefully this will be a stable release! And thanks for being patient with all the bugs on the program. :wgrin:
