Nice alex poot. The more the better.
Awesome Alex, hair looks well Celtic In fact his attire is kinda Scottish chav, huh!
There is one glitch I know of in my Necro pals, just a shade on his legs that needs to be darker, I plan to do a final pass over all characters when theyāre done and knock an FAQ up for each when I come to that stage, would take too long to do it now.
Elena / Oro on the wayā¦
Letās see that Gouki Alien!
there it is.
not sure of anything.
and his aura isā¦ pink
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p270/akubin/goukitest.png
Am seriously liking thatā¦ whatās more I can sense an awesome Ryu just from the shades on that kit bag!
Do we have to hound you for the ACT code?
I wanna test it out and have a play around!! I can see the pink in his eye as a clue to the aura - from my edits I think I remember thatās the same colour (or the symbol on back is, I forgetā¦)!
yo
glad you like it.
no act for now, Iām a finish it first
eyes are not pink but a bit orange, they are linked to the symbol on his back; not to his aura.
the auraās kanji is what bothers me, it goes through lots of colours during the animation and theyāre sprayed all over the pal (one in his giās top, one where ryu has his headband, etcā¦)
I donāt have the time to figure out the whole sequence in which they appear and figure out the right variations right now.
Ryuās bag is my āevil ryuā pal, no new ryu in the works for now.
way too busy for a while, be back and post the ACT when itās done.
Well it looks great so far
I did Gouki as one of the first and remember finding out exactly where all those colours were, I think the 4 after his GI colours plus one from the bottom right are used for his taunt, and black intervenes throughout - but it was months ago so I forget exactly which ones are what, I may re-visit tonight, but from what I remember it was 3 of those 4 plus the first from the lower right.
yo peeps
ok hereās a new PALMOD release, not many changes compared to the previous WIP version for us 3Sers, still no portraits for now, but shin gouki has been readded.
Maybe some bugs have been fixed, dunno yet but it seems mainly like a major interface change.
download it here
and you can post bugs here.
and as I finished some work, I took 5 mins to make a crappy random alex, here is a pic :
Iām still quite busy and will be for a while so I wont get anything finished righ now.
cheers.
hey alien, how did you get that stage color on that gouki edit you made?
Thatās just Shin Goukiās stage, you can access him and the stage with a cheat, as he was left in the game code. Iām gonna ask Suupa if he can tell us how to edit all the stages like that though, itād be great to play around with Makotoās stage I think. Alot of work, but cool.
^
what he said (I used FBA Shuffle, cheats work in it)
no love for the new PALMOD huuu ?
try it, itās great
iām actually using it already. i like how you can turn on or off, āget color on selectā. makes things a lot easier. just gotta remember when itās off or on or youāll have some problems:wgrin:
hu, stupid question, but actually I donāt get what does the āget color on selectā in the settings and the āget colorā button is always greyed outā¦
did suupa update already or am I missing the point?
I have to admit, I tried it out, couldnāt find any difference so Iām back to the old program. In fact, I actually found some nasty bugs in the new one so I shyed away. Oh, nice Alex Alien
I donāt mind working around bugs, itās endearing and I like the familiarity of them at times - I just wanna know how to import our own images; like fireballs, extra characters, the raccoons from Ibukiās stage and Dudleyās car etc. Thatās my biggest hope for this program and I must get hold of Suupa at some point. It seems as if itās geared 70% around MVC2, which is no massive deal I guess.
Plus what the frig is āget colour on selectā?? I have no ideaā¦
āget color on selectā means that when you select a box in the palette, it will load itās RGB or the HSL info. basically, if you have this on then itās just like the old palmod. however, if youāre doing a set of palette boxes that only differ slightly in value, keeping the āget color on selectā option off will load the same values for every box you select. this way you can get the same color everytime but you can lighten, desaturate, what have you, as you go along the boxes.
they work fine for me. the only thing thatās grayed out for me is the ārevertā button. you can use ctrl+z to undo everything though
Does it do that automatically then?
Otherwse I kinda see that just as a copy and paste option. In the old version Iād copy a colour, paste it over 7 boxes say, then adjust each one a shade.
If it does that automaically then that is VERY useful indeed.
I still got you guys under radar, so donāt lose faith yet on the new version! I didnāt release it in this thread yet because SF3 has some intense testing that needs to be done, but it looks somewhat decent so far. A readme will be in the next release to show you what means what in the program. Iāll take suggestions on what you guys may not find necessary on the program.
In the next release, which is within the week, will have some portraits (which are done) and a little bit of extra palettes. I looked over this page, so Iāll include some extras that was mentioned (Urienās intro, Kenās DP Flames). Iām also thinking about re-ripping some character sprites to make them look better.
The way that I plan to find some extras is within a new small program that scrambles data within a given offset. Itās a very convenient way of finding the locations of extra palettes. That program is 75% done and a small how-to will be released within the next version. EVERYTHING in this game is attached to a palette (Stages are too, but thatās a whole 'nother story!).
Do you guys want to be able to add ACTās in the new version? Or would C/P be a new standard?
alien nose job, I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE Iāll get Oroās objects in there!
yeaaah !
thatās all great news thanks Suupa !
(and thanks Poot)
oh yes, and I vote for ACT files, I used to find them useful to backup previous states while making freestyle pal, eventhough now we can C/P code
BIG thanks Suupa!!
I canāt wait for that extra stuff, Iām really excited so the sooner the better but I know itās alot of work.
That small program sounds very nice, so in theory we could alter everything so long as we can find it? Now that would be somethingā¦
ACT files are nice little downloads, but I think copy and pate text is also good as you can post it straight up on forums without having to link to any files or up anything etc, so itās really convenient even if a little messy.
When you say you have some portraits done, are those the mini ones by the life bar, or the ultra nice ones on the character select screen? I would love to be able to adjust the select screen ones to coincide with all the new jab colours Iāve made default.
Sorry if I sounded a little unappreciative of the new program - Iām very grateful for this program as it is, so let me know if thereās anything I can help with that doesnāt involve coding. I imagine that this is all a tedious process, testing etc!
Stage editing sounds interesting. I wouldnt mind altering a shared stage or two. If you make a pal for say MP on Alex then I wouldnt mind a button to just click in order for the MP portrait to look like the pal if thats what yous are refering to. Plus altering select screen portraits would be cool.
EDIT: Hey, I was wondering if anybody had any advice on making a, for the most part, black shadow type character palette. I noticed a lot of them used in CVS2 play & was wondering if there were any tricks to make not too dull cause right now everything is just set to 0 as opposed to little tweaks here and there. Im working on Alex and I figured everything will just be a big black shadowy aura with red eyes and maybe a red shirt as well.
Damn right, stage editing and all sorts of other bits would be great. If done properly the stages can look quite different, I really wanna play with Makotoās stage and make it more Autumnal.
With regards to dark characters, my advice is basically to leave it in 3rd strike. Iāve seen people pull it off in the vs. games but it doesnāt look right in 3S plus itās really hard to do in the first place.
If you still really wanna do it my only suggestion would be to alternate the hues quite alot. When you get to really dark shadows it can be hard to show the differences in shade, unless, you go from a very very dark brown to then a slightly more green version of that colour. That will look lighter without you having to put the luminace up a notch.
Does that make sense?..
