SFHD - Fei Long: Strategy only, ONLY POST STRATS, STRATS ONLY

CHICKEN WING, CHICKEN WING, CHICKEN WING, CHICKEN WING!

Hey partner, DON’T FORGET TO CHICKEN WING!

Aqua Snake = BAD ASS FEI LONG!

meaty close fierce pushes fei’s hitbox far enough to make ryu’s super whiff on his wakeup. sorry if that’s already been mentioned, just throwing it out there.

then again it happened to me online, so it could have just been a lag glitch.

Dude, Aqua, you’re Fei rocks. After watching you beating DGV in the West Coast Warzone Tournament it’s confirmed to me that Fei is a competitor in this game. I was really, really worried about seeing you in the tournament after you rocked me in that casual match. You did great, and I hope that we end up getting some matches again soon because your’re a really great person too.

Le0n0wski = BAD ASS DEE JAY!

Team abortion man!

Thanks man! It was fun and your Honda shenanigeans are nuts. Various discussions at the round table with you, SweetJV, and Voltech were also enjoyable! :wgrin:

Controller Choice

Hi everyone. This is a great forum–I’ll have to thank The Great Mole for the heads up!
Anyway, I consider myself a good but not great Fei. I’ve been using the standard PS3 controller for some time and have had OK success with it. However, I feel that it has kept me from using the Rekkas to their fullest capabilities (in the modification of their strength) as well as his great MP links.
I wanted to know if you have been having success with the standard controllers–is it possible to achieve great heights with them?
Or, if you don’t use controllers, what do you use? Fight pads or sticks?
Finally, what brand (or manufacturer) would you recommend for the controller/pad/stick?
Wow, that’s a lot of questions. I hope that I don’t sound like a total rookie but I’ve been very curious. Thanks!

Yeah because seeing sirlin rape in the 3v3 regionals in evo AND make t8 didn’t do that:rofl:

I apologize if this has been posted before but damn:

No, totally - I was mainly confirming my opinion that Fei is a competitor. I probably could have worded that a little better.

This just in…I concur.

I said it in the match videos thread, but I’ll repeat myself here. Aqua Snake, your Chicken Wing mixups in the Denjin Tournament were great, sir. I especially loved how you tried to use it as a meaty crossup! That’s what I’m talkin’ 'bout right dere!!!

I did have one question, though…and this especially pertains to when you had a Chicken Wing connect on a crouching opponent…

Why didn’t you try linking a crouching short XX :hp: Rekka Ken string after that? I saw a few chances for that in your matches, but I also think that may have been against Honda or Ryu and I don’t think any Rekka string is safe against them. I could be wrong, so school me if I am.

Does close hp, close hp XX rekkas still work?

I just saw it in a combo video. It was on a gief though I believe.

Yes meaty close hp, walk up, close hp rekkas work (if thats what u mean).

Pretty sure it doesn’t work on the smaller characters but it does work on shotos.

Works on Honda too!

Aww shucks…

The reason I didn’t connect that combo you specified is because I suck at combos!

I had to strengthen my mixup game to compensate for that.

Dude! No! Any answer but that one!!!

Welp…if I were you, I’d start practicing! The Rekka Ken can combo off of anything Fei Long can interrupt…and that’s been true since Super! Given the strength that Fei Long once had in being able to link moves after connecting the Chicken Wing on standing or crouching opponents, and also given that the Chicken Wing is an overhead, I would highly recommend that every Fei Long player out there get to practicing linking cr.:lk: XX Rekka Ken and cr.:lk: XX Rekka Shin Ken SC!

Let’s bring back the old deadly Fei Long, shall we?! Make his mix up game something to be feared again!!!

Edit: Of course, in saying this, I realize that your mixup game is already fearsome…but just imagine how many heart attacks would happen if you started regularly linking those above mentioned combos on crouching opponents!!! Can you not feel the glow overtaking you?! You are the Last Dragon, MAYAN!!!

Get in that practice mode foo!

You are a much better fei long than me but heres a simpler combo, but you gotta work your way up. Crossup, close standing mp(practice canceling into close standing fierce), cancel (rekka kens or flame kick) chicken wings dont combo but are useful for blocking opponents. There is also a good character specific combo for the big characters which are zangief, t. hawk and balrog dont know if it works on other characters but i doubt it does i was just fooling around in practice(crossup, close standing mp, link into close standing fierce, cancel into fierce rekka kens for 6 hits.

btw dont feel bad about the combos, i can do them in practice and with the life advantage in a match. But under alot of pressure of coming close to losing the match i get the cross up and standing fierce, then mess up the rekka ken cancel. You saw me in a couple of matches messing up and beat me senseless. ggs

takes lots of practice to just pull it off automatically which i cannot do at the moment

Edit: standing mp easier to cancel into a set of rekka kens, but standing fierce is kind of an all purpose move too me since i can cancel all specials into it, but at the same time maybe its because of muscle memory that i can do so…

I’m so irritated with PSN lag, its almost impossible to be precise with fei, and fei is all about precision.

Played D-G-V last night too. All I could do with ken, is drag the rounds out to the last 10 seconds, and both of our health levels at around 10%, and then just lose to his awesomeness. I took a round or two with fei, but I hate how a lot of shit beat all of fei’s shit.

I need an xbox.

Oh Damn ooopps

Sorry stick to cancelling close standing fierce since it standing mp doesnt work on all characters(blanka, and cammy), also CothX things are definitely much better as far as online play on the xbox side

If you connect with a crossup, it’s a good idea to know which characters get hit by the cl.:mp:, cl.:hp: link and which ones don’t. For the ones that it doesn’t work on, you can always use either cr.:lp: or cr.:lk: (better because it hits low, but it has 1 frame longer startup than cr.:lp: so adjust your timing.) and then link into cl.:hp:. My reasoning? The cl.:mp:, cl.:hp: link in a combo featuring a crossup j.:mk: and ending with the Rekka Ken will not only dizzy, but it will also do more than 50% damage. In other words, it’s a TOUCH OF DEATH!!! Doing the weak attack link into close fierce will probably give you a dizzy, but the damage hovers right around 50% and isn’t a certifiable ToD. Of course, that fact is nullified if you hit your opponent at least once before landing that combo.

But…if I were Aqua Snake, I’d just focus on cancelling one ground move into a special move. At least that will get him substantial damage. Then he can add links to his repertoire and add that much more damage to his offensive capability.

For more information…read my HDR Cross-up, Link, and Combo FAQ…and disregard those combos that start with the Chicken Wing 'cause you obviously can’t do most of them unless the opponent is crouching. Yes, I’m still revising the FAQ.

xup.mk, cl.mp -> cl.hp xx rekkas doesn’t always dizzy.
cr.lk cannot cancel into rekka (my experience in HDR). if you can do this, show me. in fact, none of fei’s ground kicks can cancel into rekkas.

You are correct i really forgot that crouching lk stopped cancelling into rekka kens in ST, it only worked with O. Fei Long, in other words it doesnt work in HDR

Edit: Revision number two: Chicken wings cant combo into ANYTHING anymore, too much recovery time added
