I’ve been messing around with using the chickenwing as a crossup (again) and it is still a fun trick. I think Aqua might have mentioned it somewhere but I can’t find it.
In any case, when using the CW as an instant crossup on a fallen opponent, where should you be in relation to your opponent and how do you time it so that you actually end up on the other side? I start to do it at my opponent’s head (while they are on the ground) and it seems like it’s 50/50. Sometimes, I crossup and other times I remain on the same side.
Is there some way to make this a bit more reliable?
Blanka, Chun Li, Bison, Gief, and T. Hawk are good matches off the top of my head. Cammy can easy unless she turtles and Sagat isn’t really that bad with his slower Shots. There you are tardo; it’s not all bad.
I’m just not feeling it on those anymore, except for blanka. Cammy is a bitch, a bison who actually moves around is hard to pin down with those pokes, gief until he gets in since flamekick is near worthless as a reversal(not completely), and chunli, fuck if I can’t get a good chun into the corner.
I’d say a few of those are 5-5 what with CW nerfs, and FK nerfs. That’s not bad though by any means, it just feels like they steal fei’s momentum pretty easily.
I haven’t had enough exp with good hawks to say yay or nay, although that j.lp hawk has is stupid good.
Rugalbernstein for example has learned to NEVER roll against my fei, he never rolls. Its hard fighting a blanka that doesn’t give you free damage like that. Be nice if I could hit his back dash with rekkas too.
What do you mean tardo everyone knows that fei beats shotos, honda, and the top tier. . . Oh wait that’s not right. :wgrin:
eh i might say that fei has the easiest time with blanka and gief, but i still wouldn’t call it a “good” matchup. winnable yes, but you’ll work for it. What Mole is to gief, Reign is for blanka, and dammit… Mole beat me by just using normals. Granted, Mole could probably SPD any living object in my living room, still… normals! Reign’s technique is so different and he uses backhops really really well.
t-hawk’s rising hawk beats EVERYTHING fei has. You can’t jump in, you can’t reverse.
chun is just irritating. Most chun’s i play… including gnx and jinjah… just keep running away and use j.lk. not so hard to beat fei doing that.
sagat? slow shots? play EST or LOOSE, they might give you a lesson on what a good sagat is.
Bison is a pain because of his jump.mp and xups/ToD. fei lost his corner trap so there is very little reward for keeping good bisons in the corner.
cammy’s matchup is slightly in her favor because of hooligan and better normals. cr.mk really is too good.
my opinion though, and i’m a nobody.
edit: he may not have all bad matchups, but i still fail to see a good one.
You can combo into rekkas, that beats my spacing and footsies any day of the week.
That said, sagat is alot like ryu to me, if he gets his zone game going it is extremely hard to get past his tigershots.
That’s why I say even, I’ve beaten mole with just normals before, its about zoning gief. St.hp, cr.mk, st.lk, b+hk.
Blanka if you give blanka st.hp to think about, he has to jump more, now if I could actually time my fk’s it wouldn’t be as bad. Furthermore, you need to play rugal too, rugal will tick. He even catches me sleeping with walk up(not dash doh!) throws!
I could believe after playing SFoptima, that sim vs. fei is 9-1 sim. Although its probably 7-3.
sadly i don’t play that much anymore. even when i do, it’s usually quick match or sometimes if i have time, i join/create 4-player rooms. i would love to challenge them, alas, i’m not one to seek out opponents. they usually come to me… then they run away with jump back low kick…
:crybaby:
the only decent sims i have played are ktm and pacloc and i learned a lot from both. it’s a lot harder to play a sim that just sits across the screen and reacts to your everymove, compared to a sim that is proactive. ktm would stand just outside his long leg range and smack me if i so much as walked forward. didn’t really fb or randomly stick out limbs… very controlled zoning game.
oh and zone? i don’t zone, i attack. relentlessly. if you have time to think about zoning when you’re playing against me, i’m having a bad night. usually i’m always in your face. attacking. relentlessly. like fei is supposed to be played.
I think Cammy gives Fei hell. I’m pretty sure most Fei players will agree (I know Aqua hates my drill-under-chicken-wing crap lol). Not to discredit the players, because they’re much better than me, but I find the Fei matchup easy. It becomes a bit hectic if they start spamming st. lk all day (makes me laugh too), but ultimately the fight is in Cammy’s favor. IMO of course.
Yeah Drill under CW is nice, but heck if they do MK or HK CW it goes right over Cammy’s head if your spaced well. Easy punish once you see Fei’s crotch going over thanks to Cammy’s very low top hitbox when crouching. Yeah, spamming st. lk is a problem but then its a matter of advancing and baiting the st. lk for the jump in combo pain or even a rare use of a spinning backhand (yes, it has a use…). I think the Cammy / Fei matchup is in Cammy’s favor as well. Especially if Cammy gets the life lead and can force Fei to advance. Cammy’s biggest weakness = turtles. Fei long =/ good turtling character without life lead.
you shouldn’t really need CWs against hawk. Rekka pressure can and will keep him in a corner. Make him wake up to cl.hp. switch up with cr.hp from time to time. unless he reverses every single time, he’ll think twice about it once he takes the hits. for the dives i usually just block and do nothing. if they’re far enough i flame kick on instinct. the bounce back from a blocked dive is just within hp rekka range, however his rise has near 0-frame startup, so watch out for the bait.
5.5 for fei in my books. maybe 6 if they don’t suck.
if you have to keep hawk away, you’re doing it wrong. you should be the one putting him in the corner.
distance, spacing, distance, spacing, timing is everything.
pressure with rekkas, different strings, just outside his cr.mk or st.mp range. cr.hk is slow enough to react to. mix up your timings so he doesn’t anticipate and react with DP. every whiffed DP is a free walk up cl.hp xx rekkas. every whiffed typhoon is free rekka x3. if you’re just at max rekka range and you have him in a corner, they don’t usually jump and dive, most of the times they turtle.
st.lk stuffs the dive too, although i’m getting better at flame kicking them.
remember, fei is one bad ass mofo. people should be keeping their distance from you, not the other way around.
