SFHD - Fei Long: Strategy only, ONLY POST STRATS, STRATS ONLY

*Close *Short, not crouch Short.

^^

Yeah…y’all corrected me on that last month!

Yarr that’ll teach me for posting late at night. You are correct, close lk works, although I can’t find any good use for it.

That’s never stopped me from posting information, now has it? I just wanted you to know that it’s possible. I didn’t say it was practical.

Close fierce into specials all day, bay bay!!!

I’m fairly certain that fei can’t do anything about chun’s meaty neckbreaker. Flamekick whiffs, and CW gets punished and reset up for it again.

Also, does it only crossup on hit? I was hit by it, knocked down and chun ended up behind where I had been standing.

No longer crossup if she does neckbreak flip behind DO NOT change block direction like you would do normally.

Im probably not explaining well enough well here is my best idea(although I think it may confuse you more) to illustrate it though.
**
Fei Long(Knocked Down) Chun Li(Standing on the right side of the screen)**
Normally you would hold f since it is b on the opposite side to block a crossup
**

Chun Li(After neckbreaker on left side of screen) Fei Long(Standing on the right)**
Although Chun Li is on the opposite side of you, this move does not count as a crossup, hold b do not change block direction

This confused me at first too, I was wondering how to block the damn thing lol.

LOL!

I remember you kept on getting knocked down OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND…

How many of you use j.HK to get over projectiles?

I haven’t been using it because I thought it was crap compared to other characters j.HK. I generally use j.LP more.

After experimenting with it for a while and looking at the hitboxes, I realize I underestimated it. The vulnurable hitbox for the move is pretty small so you have a better chance not landing on a projectile when trying to hit a projectile character with it.

Plus the range is much better than your other air normals. Lets say your at a distance where you can tag Ryu at max range with j.HK. If you were to jump late over his projectile to hit his hands, you can land just outside his sweep range possibly giving you a Rekkax3 from that sweep whiff.

I think it’s because j.HK if you try it out for yourself, lands earlier than expected. It doesn’t seem to hit too deeply to the ground like Honda’s j.HP or something similar to it.

If you do hit him, then you can immediately go into Rekkas thanks to their increased ranged. It may or may not combo but it at least gives you an oppertunity to keep the pressure.

No I know how to block it, what I said though was that when she hit and knocked me down, she ended up on the other side. I was wondering if she’s suppose to.

Still though I hate fei’s specials, they feel gimped.

My j.hk loses to jab projectles all day long because he shoves one of his feet backwards and down.

Jumping mk is his best jump in imo, has extremely long reach this makes it good for meaty jumpins for rekka kens, and if you get the timing correct this is best move to safe jump with. I mainly like this move because it hits deep, compared to j.hk, only use that particular move if its a sure thing for me to land. Other than that j. mk ftw. Also easier to use jumping mk to punish projectile characters in recovery time.

J. HK is money against projectile throwers! The great thing is that they often underestimate it’s reach. Most Feis jump in with the MK and rightly so. Unfortunately, when being pressured by energy draining FBs I’ve noticed that Fei players jump in with the MK when they shouldn’t and are promptly anti-aired. The jumping HK essentially extends your jump-in range which I’ve found to be a godsend against skilled Sims and Ryus. You can jump over a projectile attack from nearly midscreen AND connect with a counter of your own! You can’t abuse it (like everything in Fei’s arsenal) and attempt to jump in from 3/4 away but it makes it significantly easier to deceptively apply pressure to our fireball-throwing adversaries.

Fake FBs

The new bane of my existence is Ryu’s new (relatively speaking) fake fireball. The recovery time is ridiculously fast and the mind games are spooky.
It seems that every high-level Ryu that I’ve seen incorporates at least some of them into their game (DGV, EST1991 etc.).
How do you guys deal with the fake? It’s easy enough to deal with at long range but from midrange it can be a real nightmare. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If your playing offline it’s a little more managable.

The best way to deal with it is to not jump! With LK CW, you technically don’t have to.

Who can resist the urge though?

If you go against a Ryu player who abuses it, then you can keep charging forward blocking fireballs on reaction. When they throw out a fake, they just sacrificed spacing and your already walking forward to do whatever.

It’s a good thing Fei has a fast walking speed.

yes, its a very annoying move, and I strongly feel Ryu doesn’t need a fake fb. He is arguably the best all around fighter in ST, so in HDR he doesnt really need a fake fb buff. And yes, the recovery rate is insanely fast, given enough time to punish on reaction

As for a Blanka player, its hell when your trapped across the screen with fake fb, even worse for Honda. When I’m in that postion, its simply game over for me. There is almost no way to get out of a fake fb trap from across the screen, its all a guessing game. In ST it was very difficult w/o the fake fb, in HDR its a lot more difficult. So its all a guessing game. You can listen for the “hadoken” sound then react, but you have to be very quick to anticipate it.

Discovered something tonight while fight against Empirion(gg by the way). Or maybe it’s already been addressed and I don’t know about it.

Why the hell does Fei Long’s RH CW kick connect w/3 hits at point blank range when going from left to right vs Blanka, but if you go from right to left it only hits twice???

I doubt it’s Blanka’s stunned hit box, because when I look at Fei’s red hit boxes as the move progresses I can see the difference.

Or am I taking crazy pills?

Probably the way the game is. Its the same concept with Dictator’s corner trick.

Hitboxes are supposed to be mirrored image.

I take your refering to when Blanka is standing?

I may have to mess around with this.

Yes, while standing. And note that this is in the middle of the playfield…not the corner.

Iliad of thor is considering dropping fei because according to him he has no good matchups, maybe yall should show him whats up lol.
