SFA3 for evo tourney!

I concur ^.^

Why do you think he only got 3rd? =P

He used Ryu, didn’t he?

He doesn’t get serious with A3 anymore. He doesn’t even use his Akuma anymore(He use Ryu out of respect for Alex Valle). Maybe he joined because there was money involved. I dunno.

All I know is that Daigo doesn’t play A3 seriously now. Thats what my friend says and he’s praying that he could fight Daigo in A3.

Wow, is that true? If so then what a respect.

Yes.

http://www.shinforce.com/saturn/RAMCompatibility.htm

Things don’t look good for saturn. Saturn + import compatibility + RAM cartridge + game + stick = a lot.

Indeed.

Finding each item in working condition is one task. Paying for it all is yet another.

Which is why it is key at this point in time to identify possible differences between the arcade and saturn. Most people might be able to practice on emu, saving the saturns for tournament play. If people still use xbox to practice for arcade cvs2 this is a whole lot better by comparison

In that case supergun is just as viable…

I thought Daigo had switched to Ryu not only out of respect for Valle, but because Valle had made Daigo rethink the capability of Ryu during the matches they had against each other during the US vs Japan tournament. Previously Daigo had considered Akuma the No. 1 character, but after fighting Valle and exploring what V-Ryu could do, he changed his opinion.

Superguns would cost 5x as much as a saturn setup. So no…it’s not just as viable.

Someone needs to get some concrete information on the differences for saturn.

Mas Supernova with 2 sticks = little under $300
Putting comp sticks and buttons in = ~$40
A3 itself = ~$125

Supergun = ~$465

Saturn + RAM cart = ~$40
A3 = ~$40
2 similar quality sticks = ~$250

Saturn = $330

Not even 2x as much. It seems no one has saturns, but there are several who have A3 boards, meaning if we could use those it’s $10 more for arcade version. And if you want to say that you don’t need sticks for Saturn since you can just do BYOC, Superguns can be made for like $70. Not to mention that the saturn has to be hunted down, AND it would be used, AND it’s an inferior version. People hear superguns and automatically think it’s incredibly expensive, in reality it’s not as unobtainable as perceived.

I dunno. All I know is that my Japanese friend who is a alpha 3 fanatic says that Daigo doesn’t play a3 anymore. He said that Daigo just watches… but if ever he played, all zero 3 players come out and challenge him(Thats why they call it an event).

75% of the cost is in joysticks, hopefully people will be able to use their joysticks on multiple systems, is the ps2 to supergun convertor reliable and available? It’s not included in your list. Also can you config buttons on those things?

Also we haven’t really gotten around to what version is inferior, since noone really knows the differences between saturn and arcade to begin with.

No you can’t configure buttons on them, if people want to Bring their own controls, they can mod their stick with a DB25 connector. And a pox to anyone who changes buttons, I don’t understand why we cling to BYOC for a major in the first place, it does not work, and it can’t work. Standardized controls >>>>> non standard controls in any tournament over 64 people…

And are you really going to try and say that the saturn does not have differences between the arcade version? No one has said that, people who have played it said it is different, that right there makes it inferior.

I’d rather vomit than have the A3 scene totally die out over the arcade/console debate. If there needs to be a console standard, the Saturn version has to be it. No shrunken down, washed out DC sprites, no botched PSX animation. I’m not too clear on what gameplay differences there are between the Arcade and Saturn versions, I’ll admit…but if there’s a console version of A3 to play, track down the Saturn version. Do a side-by-side comparison- I have, and it’s not pretty for the DC and especially the PSX version. I could live with the DC version, considering how rare the Saturn version is…I can make the adjustment. Can you?

I agree that there needs to be a console version to agree on to bring back the A3 scene. I love the game too much to just sit around and whine about how much better the arcade version is, when there are no arcade versions out there anymore…with some rare exeptions. Seems to me the whole A3 crowd would rather let the game die than adjust to a new version. If you love the game, make the sacrifice…adapt.

What doesn’t work is using DCs and praying the blueboxes don’t happen, (especially since everyone’s joysticks are going to have to be ps2 anyway for 3s). IIRC the only game in question is MvC2, and the xbox is a possibility for that, but like saturn Z3, it’s reasonably rare, and we haven’t been able to document the differences as of yet (unless someone has and i missed it).

I say why don’t we move forward with BYOC since it’s the only way to have large competitive tournaments. There is NO standard for controls, since arcades are no longer a standard and haven’t been in a very long time. The next champ could just as well be a japan player, us player, player on custom stick, or pad player.

I think we should just assume that all sticks should be PS2 compatible, and strongly suggest that they are dual shock based so they work with convertors to other systems. I think that is as standard as we can make it. Your post implies that there is a problem with BYOC that i don’t see, perhaps you could share that so we can solve it instead of scrapping the whole idea.

I’m saying that it’s unacceptable to claim that the saturn version is inferior, and not provide verifiable examples. The MvC2 DC version is almost arcade perfect, yet there were dozens of differences that were posted. Those differences IMO aren’t even enough to say that the DC version is inferior, so how am i supposed to comment on the saturn version based on nothing. We can’t make good decisions based on heresay.

I realize this might be partly because people don’t have the saturn version, but that’s why we have thhe forum, so we can get all these ideas out to those who can test them.

Well I guess things are stuck until someone gets a hold of a Saturn with a memory card and alpha 3, or knows somebody who can find out what issues Alpha 3 has and whether it is tourney worthy.

The problem that I see, even if we all agreed on a version, is that the Japanese and Europe still play the arcade version so A3 at Evo wouldn’t be even ground for everyone.

I really miss A3 but, if it’s being played, I want play against the world.

I mean, what if we were to do a 5 on 5 with Europe, Japan and the U.S.? Which version would we play on?

Btw, Saturn differences that I know of are Sim’s slower limbs(much easier to counter-hit since they take longer to reach hitting frames) and I believe, even if the opponent is standing, that his st.RH will go right through their sprite. Of course, there’s a more complete version of Rog and he has the B.Headbutt as a normal special in Vism. Oh! Sim, in Vism, can cancel his far strongs and forwards.

Sweet discussion:)

Apoc.

Modded Xboxes. I’ll do them all myself if I have to.

N - No, really.
