SF4 Gameplay Video Link Thread

I don’t know videos of the others but I like yours because you put player and character names in video titles

I hate that commentator

i apologize if this has already been clarified, but for those who do not know, the monday night TRF tourneys are “beginner level tourneys” (???). which is why you see so many mistakes, blown punish opportunities, and some really bad matches overall. i didn’t catch this valuable info until video #6. until then, i thought they were just seeding the matchups. :looney:

apparently, according to the comments at least, abel can command throw elf out of his ultra??? (vid#5 @~5:15). this doesn’t make sense, since the command throw works on grounded opponents. i personally think elf just missed, and abel grabbed him while he was recovering. but you never know… anyone got confirmation?

^It works. Abel’s command grab is immune to throws after startup, and since Fuerte’s ultra is considered a grab, it whiffs through Abel right onto the ground, where the end of Abel’s command grab picks him right up. Gief can do the same thing with super.

ohhhhhhhhhh

makes total sense now

If you were wondering why Sagat is top tier, well, here’s the answer.

Fixed

I guess that too, but overall, the character is pretty broken.

There’s nothing broken about Sagat. Ivan Ooze is broken. SFIV Sagat is good.

Sagat’s not broken, he’s worse than 3s Ken compared to the rest of 3s ffs.

We agree that 3S was totally broken, and SFIV is really well balanced.
Still, Sagat has (at least for now) a few little advantages over the rest of the cast.

lol…

Thought this was a video thread, why we comparing SF4 and 3S characters? Why not just pit them against A3 characters?

Thanks for that info eoneo. I was getting bored with the matches, didn’t realize they were beginner level. How do they determine whether or not each player is a beginner, anyone know?

Also I think Sagat is broken but just broken enough so that he’s not gonna dominate tournies, and that you get an extra bit of satisfaction out of beating him. He’s good broken.

I want to hear some opinions on why Sagat is “broken”.

Sagat is not broken, he is Ryu with better and more damaging options.

Good matches,im lovin giefs new clothes reppin haggar style.Anyone know if you can save any of these files?

Sagat isn’t broken just simply one of the best characters in the game. He does alot of the same shit other characters do but a little better(except cross-ups). Besides thats an old video isn’t that relevant now.

good Q. my guess is either that the levels are:

  1. self-defined
  2. or based on past tourney results…

both are speculation of course. maybe an SRKer in japan can fill us in.

but more importantly, with your response, i’m assuming that the info about monday vids being beginner tourneys had not been mentioned yet in this thread, so here’s some more comprehensive info bout TRF tourneys:

Mondays: beginner level tourneys
Fridays: free level tourneys (no level restriction)
Sundays: mid level tourneys

the friday tourneys are usually the most fun to watch, since the best players are playing. so check the dates first if you don’t want to watch the nerf level vids.

but i should add, although there’s a lot of dumb mistakes made in the monday vids, there’s still stuff you can learn if you aren’t a super human who can keep up with every thread in SRK… for example, i had no idea gief/abel (and maybe honda) could command grab elf out of his ultra. and i think a few of those monday guys could still offer some stiff competition to a lot of us.

I believe it’s based on card rank and battle points.
