Don’t know how you’re supposed to overcome that turtling/runaway style that is being developed for so many characters now. It seems like not too many characters have the tools necessary. Even if you manage to get a jump-in, it seems like the player only has to guard against low attacks and throws, and the Japanese are super good at teching throws anyway. Then you just get a few low normals + fireball chip, and they’re back to square one.
It also seems weird to see Gouki, a character with little stamina, being played so runaway. You’d think he’d need a high offense to make up for his low stamina, but I’m only familiar with his 3s playstyle.

@ infil, it’s because of his low stamina that you have to keep away, the risk of taking damage is greater when it is more of a threat to your life

That’s exactly why he needs to runaway. If the player decides to rushdown, every mistake leads to big damage against him, while other characters don’t have to worry so much about it.
This is just from videos that I’ve been watching, but a lot of the time the akuma player will have a life lead near the end of a round, and will decided to push on offense instead of being more defensive, and it ends up in a loss.
I understand that some characters need to play defensively, but then other characters in the roster should be given the tools to make it possible to overcome.
My understanding is that not every character in the roster has an overhead (even a weak one)? If I’m mistaken, let me know!

I think people’s (myself included) obsession with wakeup ultras are kind of like…a psychological disorder or something. Like, EVERYONE knows wakeup ultra won’t work (maybe 1/10 times) but people do it anyway. I think it’s sort of like giving up on yourself and leaving the match up to chance. O_o
The game’s just brand new. People’s more worried about mashing stuff than actually thinking what the hell’s going on.
