I’ll give that a try and report back, thanks!
On a blocked jab string, say cr.Lp > cr.LP, if the opponent tries to crouch tech a throw and I do the Overhead Kara Super Demon, will the cr.LK come out and poke me out of being able to get the Demon out? I can’t test it out at the moment, and just thought I would ask.
Ideally, if you can do the Kara cancel in less than 6 frames (2 frames from c.LP block adv, 4 frames for the cr.LK startup) then you will beat the cr.LK from an option select. Of course that’s assuming they option select at the very first possible frame, most people will option select later than that.
I find hitting c.LP and c.LK (lp just before lk) and doing the QCB in the same motion works for me.
Awesome thread, thanks a lot.
i have trouble connect 3x c.lp to tatsu…can anyone help!?
The 3rd cr.LP isn’t a chain, it’s a link so delay it ever so slightly.
if i were u I’d practice c.lp c.lp c.lk into tatsu over 3 lp. you lose a tiny tiny tiny amount of health but the fact that its a much much better block string and that the c.lk at the end adds a little range (less chance of a stupid reversal because you pushed yourself out of c.lp range) easily makes up for something like 5 damage…lol.
also it seems easier to time you cancel if you link into a different move than the prior one (i.e - c.lk c.lp is easier to cancel into tatsu than c.lk c.lk …etc.)
my 2 cents…
My new favorite BnB combo is HK -> cMK -> EX Tatsu and end it with a juggle SRK if you’re in the corner. Now when I hit with standing HK but I’m too far away to link cMP into BnB, I’ll use the cMK -> EX Tatsu instead of always finishing those with cMK -> Fireball.
I feel like I’m a lot more dangerous now that just about anytime I connect a standing HK I’m going to do 300-400 damage.
^^ yep… the HK , c.mk link is a really good link. And you can even go for a fireball fadc if you have the bars necessary. And because the HK is a kinda long animation you easily have time to quickly look at your Special meter before needing to do your next link. HK is a very very dangerous combo starter if you know what ur doing
I think it would be useful if there were a quick BnB combo section for crouching opponents. There are a lot of times when I cross up a crouching opponent and cannot do the standard BnB.
Some combo options in this situation would be great. $0.02
medium tatsu heavy tatsu ex tatsu cr.HP
Hi ive noticed alot of ppl trying to do the edma shrts/jabs/crh chains. Are these worth the effort or is it just a little xtra flash? In all the cases he would do them you could link a cr.mk into fireball or ex tatsu.
First @ goofy…
first you can try to c.HP after the initial cross move to stand them up… but off hit confirm moves… like a c.lk after the jump in… your best option is to either do a c.mp fb FADC combo if you have 2 bars, EX tatsu to finish if you have 1 bar, or lp SRK to end if you have no bars of special. Also demonflips are a good option as well.
@ Mashfest
if they are standing you can link into a BnB… if they are crouching… THEN there is some reason to do the chain into sweep. thing is… you only can do st.jab into sweep… and only characters with large hitboxes can be hit with st.lp while crouching… Which means there is honestly no point to do the sweep link on any character not named sagat or geif…lol. AND… at this point I’ll add that against these large hitbox opponents you should go and learn akuma’s loop before you go about bothering to learning the sweep stuff.
To be dead honest… the reason ppl are learning the jabs into sweep is because they saw it on a video of a good player and therefore think its awesome now…lol. My personal opinion is that Edma was only doing it because he hasn’t gotten his st.jab into HK loop stuff down pat yet (he still has a little bit of that Ken feeling to his playstyle) or he knew that the sagat player didn’t play well on his back so he decided to get as many wake up chances as possible.
The fact you get good wake-up time off a c.HK is the ONLY reason to use the link. And if they are standing… the damage difference says go with BnB. If they are crouching then you can’t link on non-big box ppl (or if you are seriously RIGHT the hell on top of them… but i don’t know how or why you’d be THAT close…)
i guess… in short… learn his loop instead. if you can’t learn his loop then maybe bother trying to learn the sweep
i’ve been using c.mp, c.mp into BnB lately. my new fav.
edma?..i doubt its his chains ive seen many japanese players do it before him
Is this supposed to make sense?
Thanks, Gator.
Hey whats akumas best air to air normal jumping forward, i was getting owned by this ken counter jumping forward with an early hk owning me in the air every time, how would one counter this? Jumping lk? Also what about counter jumping backwards yourself, what normal would be good for that?
i didnt see this one posted:
c.l, mp, c.mk, qcf.p, dash, HK, c.lk, qcb.lk, H.shoryu (3 hits) dash, hcb.p
Who needs raging demons 11 hits and about twice the damage.
edit: can be done after FA or jump in, if your oppenent is in the corner replace HK with HP
@kaida - i think the damage scaling reduces this combo to weaksauce. it’s gonna be a waste of 2EX bars, imo. and you’re better off doing lp.srk–>red fireball. it gives more damage and stun than the hp.srk–>red fireball.
try test it out in training.
