Seth is forced to play more offensively I guess is the best way to put it. I don’t know if u can specifically relate it to any certain character but yeah.
It’s obvious that it feels like SHIT when u do a bunch of work with Seth and fail. That’s the WHOLE POINT OF THE CHARACTER. They’re allowing u to play as the boss of the game so of course there’s going to be some type of compensation for your opponents. He has a tool for pretty much every situation and can end matches fairly quickly with good reads so of course that needs to be compensated by low health and dying quickly when u make mistakes. You’ll just have to pack your bags or pick another character if you don’t want to use a character that screams “50/50 chance of winning” based on their toolset.
Also on the note of Seth’s play style changing drastically and having to re-learn what you did before. If you guys played Guilty Gear before…every player of every character had to go through that shit every fucking game. Every character got re designed every fucking game. Even the Ryu and Ken of the game got completely changed basically every fucking game. It’s just something people got adjusted to and learned to deal with and it’s something that we now as SF players will have to learn to deal with regularly. Your character just not playing much the same between games.
Thats fine and dandy but this isnt even a new game, its a friggen update. The game isn’t a year old and won’t be for the patch. If we never even knew the arcade version was coming out it would just be a DLC for our console game. I mean i agree with you in the sense that it can feel like a new game now. I honestly feel they should just call it Super Street Fighter IV Turbo with all these supposed ridiculous changes. But again, im still pissed, this isnt SSFIV TURBO This is still SSFIV. There should be NO drastic change in a simple patch. Seems odd to me they would even consider it.
it’s hard to believe the list of nerfs for him so far without having at least one buff. first when I saw j.hp was gone I assumed there would be some kind of buff to compensate, but the only other info so far is other horrible nerfs to his game. I really, really hope this shit doesn’t make it through to the final version.
It’s easy to get pissed off about an update until you realize the internal reasons behind it.
Capcom is doing this update basically as a way of trying to save the arcades and make the most profit from the arcade release. Look at most Japanese fighting games with regular version updates like Guilty Gear and Arcana Heart. It’s the constant 3-6 month updates that keeps the game fresh for players at the arcades. Something new to look forward to as far as what the game presents and how it is played at a high level. You guys are complaining about something that the Japanese have been dealing with in other competitive games for years. Sometimes Arcana Heart won’t even get a name change…just a version change and the game is just different.
If Capcom went out to make sure that the arcade version of Super SFIV was exactly the same as the console release…there’d be no real extra money to make. People wouldn’t come to the arcades in droves to check it out. You’d have people come out but you’d have a lot of people realize that “oh it’s the same shit I can play with a pretty good connection over XBL no thx” and not come out and not support the arcade release of the game. Capcom is doing this so you are forced to come to the arcade and spend quarters/yen to see what all the hoopla is about and play an entirely new version of Super SFIV that u don’t have access to at home. Capcom is a business and they know the best way to make money in the arcade business (just like Namco and ArcSys do) is to make the arcade version purposely more robust and changed competitively from the earlier console release.
On top of this the biggest issue for me specifically is that nothing yet has been given about WHEN THE CONSOLE PLAYERS will get this update. It could be very easy for Capcom to sell out to the arcade scene like others have in the past and not update us for a couple months or longer. Guilty Gear players had to wait over a year or more to get a console release of an arcade update and then sometimes only for that console release to be flawed and inaccurate. It’s very easy that the changes themselves could not even be your worst issue. Your worst issue could very well end up being you may not be able to train wit the new version of Seth until months after the Japanese and other players who live close to arcades .
Welcome to what Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Guilty Gear and Arcana Heart players have been dealing with for years.
Would most of you guys prefer more health and stun or higher damage output. I’d personally take the damage output so that my mixups mean more and my ultra combos aren’t a joke.
Depends how much health your talking. I’d take 1000 health and the same damage output over 750 hp and higher damage output. But if you’re only talking about adding maybe 100 health I’d definitely take the added damage output.
I doubt Seth would ever get 1000 health. I usually lose due to not being able to keep up in the damage output rather than losing to random hits. Two hit-confirms from Seth doing less than one from some characters isn’t cool. I’d love if Seth’s SPD, SRK, Hyakurestu and normals did about 20 more damage. These 20 damage jabs and 50 damage strongs aren’t cool.
Do you guys honestly not think that Seth is being changed in accordance to how they are changing the other characters? I mean it’s not like Seth is getting changed and that’s it. It’s very possible that every character is getting radical changes across the board especially with people saying that Cammy’s cannon strike is completely changed. Do you not think he may actually get some other beneficial things to offset what they are nerfing him for? As a Viper player yeah I was scared at first when I heard every character was getting new shit that actually meant something to them except for Viper. Sagat getting a new special move, Guile getting better normals, Zangief getting a new air based ultra, Seth getting a new ultra that he could FADC into. Yeah that all shook the Viper thread up a bit because we thought Viper had issues and there was nothing talking about how Viper would improve. Though in the end it came about that everyone else ultimately got nerfed in a way so that Viper would instantly have an easier time fighting them.
Seth’s nerfs so far seem like they are by far the worst out of the entire cast. Cammy losing non ex insta cannon spikes is bad but not as bad as ruining seth’s ultra and removing his best zoning tool.
I want to think that way, but Capcom already nerfed Seth for nothing from vanilla to super. I like U2 an all, but most Seth players would gladly drop that glitchy mess if U1 worked like it used to. As of now, I have no reason to believe that Capcom cares for Seth. It feels as if they just want to nerf him to the point of unplayability (not like he wins tourneys anyway. vanilla seth was viable) and forget about him.
