someone posted some translation jap wiki shit that Seth got a stamina buff and faster booms/better recovery?
Don’t care.
They have to be Guile Booms for it to matter.
and still be non charge motion.
Yes.
i am an average player, and i know my opinion is more or less irrelevant. but i just want to say that if this is true… i will quit this game without question.
reminds me of that video when they made gully motion char and he just spammed
now that shit would made my day
If they actually change U1 into a fireball, it can probably be combo’d from shoryu fadc, anti-air light shoryu, jump mp and stuff. Also you never know maybe they changed it to do 500 damage.
Nothing to say about his jump fierce.
Edit: not to say that U2 doesn’t combo from shit already, but U2 is kinda glitchy and U1’s knockdown is so sick compared to U2’s where i’m scared to get punished after LANDING it
I have cooled down a bit from yesterday. This is seriously the first time I have actually gotten upset over a video game, but I digress.
Removing J.HP is just dumb. No matter what other buffs he gets.
In fact. Here’s what he should have got.
At the top of the list.
FJ. Stretch arms - Yeah I said it. Forward Jump stretchy arms.
**Same health as Akuma **- Akuma can make a few mistakes with his stamina. 2 with Seth and it’s over.
Faster Recovery on U2 - It’s ridiculously slow. I’ve been punished after landing it!
Same Booms as DeeJay - OK, we all want Guile booms, but Seth is a copy cat. It’s only right that he don’t do moves as good as the originators, but DeeJay is par for the course IMO.
Buff Damage and range on SPD - Just a TAD, nothing dramatic.
Vanilla priority on J.HP - I mean, it IS a fierce punch. It should beat a lot more moves!
People complain about his tele, but it’s a move you should be using as an escape anyway so I say leave it and keep so only people who know what they are doing can use it effectively.
I have no problem with his DP.
That to me sounds reasonable. FJ stretch arms is wishful thinking, but as a T. Hawk mainer I never expected to get BJ Condo Dive, but it’s apparently there.
His U1 is a anti fireball so what in the hell is it gonna be used for now? Since a fireball can trade with it I assume you can see it coming and just opt to jump over it? How in the fuck are you suppose to land it?? OK, I’m pissed again. Whatever man. Capcom was on such a roll, but this has put me on full tilt.
If the j.hp, U1 re-nerf and Headstomps nerfs all stick, I am definitely switching mains.
Headstomps are even more a part of Seth’s new mixup game in Super and having it nerfed is pretty ridiculous.
Gotta keep telling myself…just a location test…just a location test.
blah i add something from the other thread.
Seth’s down+RH in the air is a lot faster
J.HP and ultra 1 both are both essential to Seth’s zoning game. But Capcom thinks you’re boring and wants you to rush that shit down considering how good he is at it. If these nerfs stick, I would expect a buff in lieu of damage/hp to give slightly more incentive to get in dat ass. Seth mains, start practicing your resets.
:u: We dont exactly need more health, we just want all our offensive tools back. U1 when used against Fireballs is one of them.
That’s (faster dive kick) cool, still, not good enough.
You guys are bitching about things you’re not going to get yet don’t even TRULY know what you ARE going to get. It’s obvious that all of the idealistic stuff you guys want you’re not going to get because Capcom just doesn’t see the light in it and won’t no matter how many times you post it on the SRK Seth forum that they never read. It’s already been said that Seth as a character is going to be completely different in the arcade version so in the end…Seth is not being designed for people that played him for what he was or what they thought he should have been in Vanilla.
If anything Seth will do better with newer people picking him up that never understood how he played or what he was capable of in Vanilla. They’ll end up doing better with him in the long run because they won’t restrict themselves to a bias of what he used to be. Capcom is specifically re-designing the way Seth plays drastically. I’m going to assume they’re mostly doing this to make him more of a rushdown oriented character (as what’s been their plan since console Super). As someone who doesn’t main Seth but isn’t really as biased from playing him since Vanilla…I’d just like to see it play out and see what the Japanese and Poongko do with him.
Bringing up Poongko…I think Poongko is the ideal type of Seth player. He just plays and wins despite what Capcom does to him. Even without ever seeing him type a message on a forum u can just understand that he puts the time in to understand what Seth is capable of and uses that to make a powerful play style. He’s not sitting in bed every night wondering why Capcom messed up Seth’s j.HP or teleport. He deals with it and finds ways around it and creates things to beat people with given what the game has given him.
With Capcom once again changing Seth up hardcore there’s really no reason to continue wishing for things that you aren’t going to get. You’re going to be complaining about Seth again just off of the fact that he’s going to play hella different from what you’re used to apparently.
True but what if Seth turns into SSFIV Gen though? He was thoroughly change at least according to the Gen Players.
As you see, his changes didn’t benefit the character too much.
Change could mean he is still good but on the flip side could mean he is worse.
People do not want that.
DevilJin, are you serious on this one? I usually agree with you, but not this time. They nerfed his DiveKick and they nerfed his teleport going from vanilla to super (which we used for post-knockdown mix-ups). They nerfed his stun and they nerfed his already low damage. How is that a rushdown oriented change?
And also, are you saying “stop bitching, because the 2 years you spent learning this character and the way he plays, no longer matter. Capcom wants him to play absolutely different, so you can just drop this game altogether if you’re wanting to go to the character select screen and play the same character you’ve learnt.” ???
I must admit however, this quote interested me:
I don’t know how Kinpatsu played him, but if I apply this sentence to my own game, this means that I can no longer rushdown, mix-up with high-low using stomps, mix-up with SPD after whiffed DiveKick, meaty tanden engine their wake-up so I get another mix-up. etc etc-
Either that, or he’s referring to turtly '09 Arturo way of playing Seth, and that you can no longer do that. I’m fine with that change.
Basically IMO it is a forced incentive to rush down. Think about it. All of those tools that you say allowed Seth to rush better. Nerfing his dive kicks. Can you honestly tell me that his dive kicks got nerfed to the point where his rushdown is seriously killed? On top of that…the nerf to his teleport. The reason you were able to use his teleport to rush people down is the same reason you were able to run away with his teleport before also. The exact thing that made his teleport good for rushdown is the exact thing that made Seth harder to his for characters like Zangief and now T.Hawk and Hakan. The teleport wasn’t nerfed to necessarily kill Seth’s offense…it was nerfed to lessen his ability to run away from bad situations. Considering this is the same character that already has ridiculously long invincibility on his DP’s, DP FADC and even a fucking SPD. Oh and still has a teleport.
Then I watch Poongko play matches and see him severely rushing down a Zangief player. This is in a competitive offline tournament. Most characters don’t even want to go near Zangief but Poongko’s Seth is j.HK crossing and dive kicking this Gief player like it was Sakura. This is of course with all of his rushdown “nerfs”. In the end all of this was done so you are FORCED to go over there. That’s why Poongko is rushing down Gief players. He can’t stall the match with fireball, U1, j.HP snipe and teleports like he used to yet he still has the tools to completely rushdown a character that before he could easily beat by not doing much at all? Then he can still do the same of course to any other character when the opportunity arises. Capcom made Seth in a way so that if you want to maximize your damage and chances to win the fight you have to go over there. All nerfed stun really does in the end is force you to go over there more often. If you’re gonna win you’re going to try to find one more way to get in and land one more combo to stun the opponent.
Goddamn it… you’re right.
Still, it feels like SHIT rushing down someone for a whole match, with your shitty dmg output, then getting reversal’d>ultra and just straight out losing the match over that (lol health). Sometimes it’s even because of the nerfs he received form one game to the other.
So you have no CHOICE but to depend on both your offense and your defensive options. Now if they take out those same defensive options (which poongko also falls back on, come on…) you’ll simply be forced to rushdown and continuously put yourself out there under the risk of getting reversal’d // counter hit into oblivion.
I guess… I guess I’ll give the new Seth a try. Fine. If he’s shit tier though, I will not keep playing this, because I simply don’t want to play a bad character and none of the others interest me :T
In short, Seth is more like El Fuerte now, right? And they could just keep the DP+PPP/KKK Teleports like they were in Vanilla, and keep RDP+PPP/KKK like they are in Super.
Kanta’s secretly gay for Vega.
