So… Who else is contemplating a character switch? Yun and Yang look like they’ll be fun. I hope Genei-jin and Yang’s version have invincibility like Rose’s U2 currently does. It’ll be pretty fun fucking up people’s wake-up reversals with it.

If they didn’t nerf his divekick again, I’ll probably stick with Seth.

So no dive kick buff >_>. Yay, no more zoning but I get to rushdown with a flimsy dive kick with 800 hp :D.

I already have T.Hawk and Hakan as alts. Right now they are both looking to have some great buffs. I’ll probably still stick with Seth though just for the sake of trying him out. I know we’re all overreacting a tad right now because the full changes aren’t released, but still its sad to see all of this happening to Seth.

I guess all I have to look forward to is his new alternate costume…

Shit was GDLK back then. It only had 8 frames of startup (has 12 now), so it descended near instantly, it fell quicker and the hitbox was better. It used to be near impossible to react to, and it stuffed most normal move anti-airs. Neutral jump stomps to divekick murdered characters without solid anti-airs in the corner.

The divekick itself was near impossible to react to, not the jump prior. Now you can visually notice the pause that Seth does before the divekick.

Don’t those updates come on Mondays? It looks like it hasn’t been posted yet, or if it has, it probably hasn’t been translated. Either way, they’ll probably save Seth and Akuma changes for next week’s blog.

Concerning Zangief, Seth still has sonic boom and his far standing HP (The blog only mentions jumping HP)

Neutral jump HP will have to be replaced with neutral jump roundhouse. Seth will no longer get insta-stunned and has slightly more health to play with in the match up. I’m pretty sure Seth’s Ultra 1 will be as useful versus Zangief as it is now (seeings as Zangief has no fireballs anyway)

Remember he had some stuff changed as well, hitting Seth with Green Hand is now +1 instead of knockdown (IMO this is good for Seth) and his jab SPD has apparently been nerfed in range and damage.

IDK about the Seth-Gief match being 6-4 in Seth favor. It seems like it would be 5-5 to me. Without jumping fierce, Seth loses his long range anti-air. Trying to zone with fireballs from further closer than long range usually gets Seth killed. U1 won’t be very useful IMO unless he can use it with his fireball again; there’s nothing for it to punish that wouldn’t be triggered in reaction to a fireball. I suppose it would deter full-screen jumps though.

Jab SPD range was increased, not decreased. This combined with the fact that Gief walks faster than Seth and has better footsie pokes leads me to believe that the matchup will be 5-5, if not in Zangief’s favor now. Seth can’t really rush Zangief down because Lariat beats crossups and his EX SPD beats Safe-jumps. Seth doesn’t have much of a ground mix-up aside from the Magneto loop, and I’m pretty sure Lariat will stop it easily. If Zangief can backdash SPD now, this matchup will be probably be terrible for Seth.

Seth’s DP FADC, SPD, and headstomp beat basically all of Zangief’s wakeup options. You can’t safe jump Gief but you don’t have to. Tanden beats all of his reversals at the correct range.

Zangief’s backdash is fucking terrible and if you don’t punish him for doing it in your mixups you should quit SSF4.

We have to wait and see, I personally do not believe Seth’s success was based entirely around neutral jump fierce however the fear of getting hit by it certainly made an impact to the match up.

My point is that Seth’s other tools seem for the most part in tact. Neutral jump roundhouse has good range as well, it beats out lariat. It also deters jumping if you time it to do so.

A better Tanden Storm (super) might make a difference as well.

No doubt, the match up looks worse now, but perhaps Zangief kinda deserved it? The Zangief match up has been elementary since day one.
