damn tier whores lol stick to seth!!! his nerfs make him more impressive to master. and they werent that bad unless jumpback stretchies is all you did. i still expect him to be an excellent character.
lulz well i guess ill be one of the few that stick to seth. i take his nerfs as more of a challenge, like an added star to sf2 difficulty level i dont really like how the other characters feel, we shall see when yun and yang come in. if anything ill probably just switch to MK once its out… no mashing or ridiculous ultras where they reward you for getting beat up. (heres to hoping the dont copy capcom)
I feel your pain. Ultras are the one thing I really resent in this game. It seems really causal that adds some luck into the game. Some say they are in to give the illusion someone is making a comeback… nahhhh it’s overdone because we already have damage scaling. You called it- ultras are just rewards for getting your ass handed to you. IMO if ultras were removed I think SSF4 would be better and even more competitive. What irks me is when you look at characters like Ryu or Chun Li and their options to combo safely into ultras then look at a character like Bison who has only one set up (jmp) really makes the game unbalanced in that regard. =/
yet basically every major tier list acknowledges Bison as being higher on the list than Ryu? Bison who has an ultra that can punish fireballs full screen, can be used as a 50/50 mix up in some situations, and even an escape option in some situations.
And I’ll stick to Seth. long as there’s a few buffs to keep him interesting after the nerfs I’ll definitely keep him as my main character.
Go on eventhubs and look at Juri’s crotch on the upper right corner. And the rain thing, it was raining when I posted. Like, pouring and thundering and shit. Then it stopped.
Also, Sticking to Seth as long as I stick to this game.
yeah the poognko seth is my style too. i like mind F****** peeps until theres no tomorrow. and rushing down like crazy. only stretchies i use are against gief and its really just something to get used to. u can catch his jumping over a fb with floor stretchies and neutral jump hk works wonders too. fb cancel j. mp stomps too. etc etc.
and as far as ultra one you can always set it up pretty nicely. in the middle of shennanigans. When not expected (in the middle of tons of pressure) you can do the fb fadc teleport ultra. the ultra combos with the fb and theres no damage reduction. u can also focus absorb ryus fb, dash in ultra. harder to do but sick if you land it.
i use ultra one for jump ins mostly, and to push people away if they are on my ass. i also think you will still be able to ultra akuma if he running away since his fbs sometimes wiff.
subject on balancing ultras… they should change the meters. the ultras become supers etc. so youd need make a decision to burn ultra meter to get a much needed fadc. my friend mentioned this idea to me and with refining it makes decent sense.
They didn’t address any of the issues that Seth has rushing down. He has no way in apart from jumping, focus and dash spd. He gets rubbish mixups off all enders except stomps and spd.
I see Poongko being brought out as a defense for the new Seth, but he doesn’t break the Seth mold, it’s not unusual to see him do 3 or more unsafe jumps per round. I also can’t be the only one to notice he does a lot of random DPs, he clearly has no problem taking risks. Not everyone is happy to try and herp derp their way in multiple times per round, then drop combos to go for dangerous as hell dash spd because legs is so crap. I’m not saying that this can’t be effective, but it’s pretty gimmicky and I think it’s the sign of a weak character that Seth players have to go balls to the wall over solid play and guaranteed damage.
I don’t see any reason to play AE Seth over Akuma who has stronger combos, much better oki, more health, better ways to cover his jumps, good footsies(!), good zoning.
You play Seth over Akuma because you LIKE SETH. He fits your playstyle, and he’s flat out fun to play. I don’t really understand the big Whoop. You either play him or don’t play him… no one should have to convince anyone either way. Seth is nowhere near my best character, but I’ve been playing him none stop because he’s just flat out fun. The games are either Perfect or L …lol. I think of it like an art to rush down while reading minds and reacting. I use akuma as well, he has more of a control rush down. His demon flip vortex has a lot of options so once they’re in…THEY’RE IN. They have to choose correctly to escape (similar to ibuki/ELF) Seth is pure rush, but with a different mentality. I think of him like a flashy counter puncher. He has to make the reads and do, what on its own are, dangerous tactics but because of his hi/lo/back/forward mixup allows hims to be scary effective. I am more than likely wrong, but I feel a completely different when I use Seth…unlike any other character in the game. It makes him interesting and hard to face… I don’t really care about the buffs or nerfs…he’s just fun.
This. EX legs is complete garbage for what it is supposed to be, walljumps are too slow, triangle jumping with divekick isn’t very good IMO, and his zoning isn’t good enough to force other fireballers to come to him. Akuma has air fireballs for a near free jump in on most of the cast, Dudley has his duck, Cammy has EX SA and can do her divekick much lower to the ground, and Ibuki has that neckbreaker to easily close the distance against fireballs. They all walk much faster than Seth also. I usually have to rely on anti-airs or backing the opponent into a corner to get in when I can’t force them to come to me. Seth really needs his teleport back or legs to be untechable.
Im gonna keep playing Seth as long as he’s still in the game. I actually like his changes, seeing as I play ballz to the wall rushdown with him anyway.
