Yup. That’s actually one of the setups that I was referring to. Evades all of her reversals except EX Burn Kick if I recall correctly and lets you anti-air if she jumps. I’m not sure if it covers instant air burn kicks, but it’s a good setup when you don’t want to deal with a reversal into ultra. You can do it off of Hyakuretsukyaku also if you know that she’ll tech.

What should a Seth do against a really turtling Honda?
I just got really mad because I was playing an Honda who just sat in the corner and headbutted me whenever I tried to get in.
How to defeat someone like this?

SRK beats headbutt. Otherwise magneto loop his fat ass. The corner makes it even easier.

He can EX Headbutt that. Corner or not.

Neutral jump/back jump makes headbutt whiff and you can punish that with ultra/legs at least. lp super punishes all headbutts on block.

If he doesn’t use pokes, consider something like cr.mk xx lp tanden. Unsafe if they jump but great against hardcore downbackers.

You also have a fireball. Honda has nothing to punish fireballs besides jumps, U1, and super. If he neutral jumps over a fireball at mid range with nj.hp you can s.hp him for free as he’s coming down - he loses tripguard.

Half of the match is knowing where it’s safe to throw fireballs (his jump angle is wicked against Seth). The other half for Seth is not walking into his pokes. The third half is OS’ing his wakeups with hp/mp SRK so he can’t just EX headbutt to get out. You can punish non-EX buttslam with lp SPD if it hit you from above (not on the shoulder or lower).

Honestly the answer to your question is fireballs, s.hp, build meter for super for the fireball trap into super, and if he does stop sign (nj.hp) he gives up charge so you can jump at him or you can punish with s.hp.

This is not really a question exclusive to Seth but what should I do if I let Rufus get in? All this time I’ve pretty much just been trying to block the DKs, eat the throw, and eventually DP FADC (or back dash if I’m playing Yun) my way out but thats obviously not the greatest way to improve my defense in the long run. Do I crouch tech with a slower button (ie cr.LK+cr.LP+cr.HP?)

You need to OS tech with Crouch Strong or Stand Fierce. This will both stop throw attempts and preemptively anti-air his jumps. Both of these options will lead to a counter-hit if Rufus attacks instead of grabbing or divekicking again.

Also, remember the Seth players’ motto: “When in doubt, DP out”

I made it last night but then I realized I’d have to maintain it, cried in a corner, then deleted it until summer comes and I ACTUALLY have time on my hands (another two weeks or so, after my finals are done)

Meanwhile I’m working on compiling the info ahead of time to make sure when it’s posted it’s at least semi complete instead of a skeleton of a thread :stuck_out_tongue:

I found a safe-jump timing after SPD for Shotos (Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Evil Ryu, and Oni), but it isn’t a safe-jump in the traditional sense. It causes all Reversal SRKs from Shotos to whiff (Strong, Fierce, & EX) or be stuffed (Jab). This is pretty important because it is impossible to set up an ambiguous crossup or safe-jump them normally.

Just started using Seth, getting to grips with him but struggling with Cammy MU. My friend plays a very solid cammy so have access to MU experience. It seems to be in her favor. The main parts I struggle with are

-Safe jumping her is ridiculously annoying since her hitbox upon wakeup is annoying

  • Her pressure is so ambiguous, I never which way to block the divekicks and seth is such a big target for cammy’s nonsense
    -That annoying hooligan thing grabs me all the time, how do I escape this?
    -Any cammy specific tips in general?

how to fight dee jay? cant safejump him after spd because he always seems to autocorrect his kicks. knee thing is hard to counter with anything air to air. i had some success only with jhp but only if i do it before he presses the button. should i try to go heavier with my anti airs? its my main problem right now as i see

any tips?

also, i dont know why clhp looks like it can stop crossups because everyone beats me clean, maybe i dont use it right

Have to use frame perfect set up to safe jump Upkicks. can’t cross up safely afaik.

Make sure you delay your punish a little bit so you can punish Upkicks with a real punish instead of just hitting him for shit damage and having him fall out of the air

fst.MP or DP knee shot (kinda hard to do online but it works offline)

Pay attention to his charge, if he doesn’t have it, dive kick becomes 3x better in the match up

stay in his face, dee jay wants to keep you out

His reversal has 4 frame startup, so you’re timing the safejump incorrectly. That said, you need frame perfect timing to safe jump a 4 frame reversal sooooooo.

If by knee thing you mean midair :d:+:lk:, then just SRK it. Why would you ever try to air-to-air with Seth when he has one of the best DPs in the game and a free mixup afterwards?

well i had troubles with dping him because of him changing the jump arc. gotta play the matchup more

found the timing for safejump, really strict one. watched roxas match and he just empty jumps

So I played a nice long set of around 50 matches with a solid Oni player. Oni’s standing forward seems to beat Seth’s entire moveset and unlike Sagat’s roundhouse, it’s too quick to try to jump in on. His fierce SRK being able to beat ours is a pain also. Any advice? Zoning works pretty well until a fireball or standing fierce gets jumped and I lose 1/2 of my HP. I’m thinking that Oni is another bad matchup for Seth. I want my damn jump fierce back!

are there some specific things for guy matchup? i played a long set offline and had problems. i noticed that he is easily safejumped so after knockdown i can mix him up. but on the ground i had problems with him consistently pressuring me. hard to score a knockdown. also, he baits the dp quite well with his shoulder drops
