so it was that simple. great thanks.
without a proper matchup thread i feel just lost
I remember putting character select on random to practice some OS with Seth a while ago, and got Gen. While it’s mad unsafe, I think Gen can actually LK Genkiro (or w/e little roll kick is called) Seth’s DP. I have absolutely no idea why this was happening, because everything else would lose or get safe jumped. Maybe I was doing a set up wrong or something, but if someone could look into that.
so, what do i do against rose? bitch outpokes me in close range, and after knocking me down, its like a game over. i guess my message feels scrubby, but in this matchup i just can’t do shit.
Hm…I don’t know exactly what to tell you about this match up. Maybe someone else has more useful advice, but can’t you just teleport out?
Edit: things I do know about this match up
· HP Tanden from fullscreen to get rid of her Ultra 2
· EX SPD if she does Ultra 2 on your wake up
· SPD punishes blocked drills (depends on spacing I think)
· Meaty Tanden beats almost all of her wakeup options (It loses to Ultra 1 and EX soul throw)
What’s Rose gonna do if she knocks you down? Do a crossup where she can’t change her jump arc? Throw/frame trap you?
She can’t reflect booms at full screen because of U1.
Rose’s best range is mid-range. Anywhere else and she just loses horribly.
Jump in OS EX legs or U1 beats her backdash and spiral.
it looks to me really that im losing to her frametraps, when i think about it. need to learn to panick less and stop pressing buttons.
- knock rose down (ie spd)
- dash forward (get in range for cr.MK)
- pick between meaty tanden or cr.MK
meaty tanden beats everything except jumping and u1 when spaced properly, cr.mk to catch jumping (and cancel into tanden lolol) you will be safe if she avoids the tanden engine.
I thought seths strategy was Score a knock-down then GO NUTS!! Am I wrong?
Yeah against Rose I just get in her face and start my mixups. She doesn’t have very good options once you gain the momentum.
Any tips for the Bison and Cammy match-up? I’ve been consistently getting wrecked by those two online for the most part.
Bison, RTSD and Safe jump/OS his reversals (hp tanden catches teleport). Cammy, RTSD and Safe jump/OS her backdash with lk legs.
Someone said–I can’t remember who–that OS jump against Bison is amazing. It catches almost all of his options except EX Headstomp.

Good stuff. I’ve been needing to get my OS down and using them consistently in matches.
-Gekiro has a mean, MEAN hitbox now. first of all, unthrowable, can’t meaty it and sometimes you can’t even cross it up. Second, I don’t know if it’s the situation it’s used in, but Gekiro seems to have extreme ease in auto-correcting, just like Seth’s teleport, this makes it so I can rarely cross him up. Even if you do “succeed” in crossing him up (which you probably won’t, because of how horizontal Seth’s body is on j.HK) you’ll just reset him out of the air and get no combo love.
This is in fact incorrect. Gekiro has a strange hitbox that is susceptible to any attack that hits low eg. Ryu’scr.mk. The exception to this is obviously EX Gekiro as it has invincibility frames on start up. Not only will a low attack knock Gen from Gekiro but it will also generate a counter hit.
Seth doesn’t seem to have a low attack that lowers his hurt box enough to do that.
anywhoooo, after doing really shitty for some reason, starting to get back into the swing of things…and now I’m having trouble with certain shit again.
Cammy - This feels impossible. Is my best bet to sub Boxer?
Viper - Doing better yeah. Still getting blown up by the better Viper players but I’ve managed to outguess some decent ones now…and I found out that cr.LK cst LK Hyakurestukyaku OS does work on her back dash (just have to do it fast.) But when I go against those really technical players, they EX/HP Knuckle Feint and fuck me up. Like I either do an OS and get wrecked or I do nothing and lose all of that much needed momentum. Is there anything I can do about this…? (and lol, had a Viper read my SPD into 70% today…tried asking him for some tips on the MU but no reply )
Seth’s cr.hk lowers his hitbox.
Tanden engine would beat feints but lose to reversals. Except EX Seismo, it has no throw invincibility now
Jump in OS DP beats a lot of Viper’s shit. If you want to beat just backdash and feint do a lp DP. I think you might lose or trade with EX Burning Kick/HP TK but no big deal if that happens.
I think I’d get grabbed out of it before Tanden could start…I guess I just have to fake a j.HK into SPD. Too many mind games
If you do the tanden as a true meaty it will beat everything besides hp TK/EX BK. I’m not saying OS tanden. It is a little obvious but if they’re looking for that then they’re not focused on your actual mixup game.
You can fake a safe jump timing and do a divekick to delay your hit as well.
The safer option is to mix up your attack timings and do meaty cl.mp/cr.lp/cr.lk or whatever to hit her out of shit. Feints still have recovery you can punish, and her reversals are all either very slow or don’t lead to much damage. You can beat EX Seismo, feint or not, by mashing jab (just as an example of what works).
Edit: I forgot that regular BK is airborn on frame one. So technically he can just regular burning kick your tanden engine attempt but that’s the only thing it will beat besides SPD/normal throw.
Non-EX Burn Kicks should either whiff through Tanden (Fireball Invincibility) or be blocked depending on how you time them.
I forgot it counted as a fireball. Oh man that’s too much shit going on between those two moves.
