that setup poongko uses can be done with lp tandem engine. its worked well for me so far when used sparingly since its a mixup most people have never seen before.
are we talking the same setup as the one in the vid GHOST???
heres another fun n flashy one altho alil risky.
c. hp tossup jump forward air m.p and when u land before opponent does c. mp xx sonic boom fadc c.mk legs.
The point here is that the c. mp resets the fall and then opponent will block the fireball (or not if he truly sucks) then the unexpected c.mk to legs gets a hit.
or you can go the REALLY risky but sick looking double dash after fadc and then spd. (works best against non mashers) then you have a good wakeup mixup to shenannigan.
a really simple reset after dizzy is the toss up jump air mp to c.jab to walkup spd after reset. this works well cuz seth is expected to do something amazing, and its quite funny when people fall for this simple setup.
also i heard a rumor Seth may be getting vanilla dive kick speed back with the deletion of the air stretchies… anyone know about this?? i sure hope they do speed it up.
ya its the one in the vid. use lp TE.
Ya I saw something about that in the seth notes for AE, we’ll only know for sure once they give us the full updated list though. I could only hope we get something for offensive pressure if they take away a defensive move.
Honestly though, vanilla dive kick is so broken xD it’s really fast, overhead, has a low height restriction and a great hitbox I love it!
i vote bring back vanilla for sure haha! bargain bin the SUPER nonsense!
On the discussion of Super vs FADC…
I think the way in which you manage your meter is reflected by how you play. Very aggressive Seth players burn meter quickly in FADC combos gunning for stun while less aggressive, zoning Seth players will often save an opportunity to wack someone with a Super combo.
With that said, both types of Seth players build meter very quickly and if you can consistently land Super for over 30% or consistently stun someone into a corner neither way of playing should be considered bad.
Seth’s Super combo is really good, the threat of over 30% damage that shuts down Focus attacks, certain jumps, whiffs and the like is awfully powerful. To top it off, yes you can combo for nearly 50%, although I personally never like to combo* a Super where I could otherwise combo to legs or SRK, that option is still there and is still very dangerous. In some match ups the Super might not be very effective and you’re better off going for FADC/EX Tanden combos to stun an opponent instead.
*The only combo I like to use with Super is neutral jump fierce as low to the ground as possible (while hitting an opponent) and MP Super on landing if Cr.MK can’t reach. For the most part I don’t like combo into Super if I can avoid it.
will vanilla dive kicks make up for no stretch limbs + ruined U1?
neutral jump fierce kick beats out guy’s ex srk type spin kick(its gotta be instant)… also beats out his air game like viper’s air game
seth gets so much hate used to be funny but now it gets annoying. people get one win (on endless mind you) and arent willing to give a rematch… they just keep talking smack.
this must be some xbox exclusive smack. I find people be counterpickin my Seth and I’m the one who hates on them cuz they pull off some random bulltarnish and it pays off. Like I miss some crouch short and I get uppercutted when I go in for a throw or somin. you must be real good.
i dont even wanna mention anything about my level of skill. cuz aparrantly ill sound arrogant with anything i say. its on the daily where i get hate mail thats not even necessary. i dont think im super good considering ive been beaten by several seth players pretty easily.
Alright guys, really appreciative of some of the information given in this sub-forum, been a massive help in picking up Seth. There is one match-up that’s been really getting me though, and that’s Ibuki. I just can’t zone her out since she has an answer for everything, but at the same time my mate who plays her just locks me down with what seems like incredibly safe pressure. I used to play Abel, so I’m used to being able to take a hit or two, but with Ibuki I make one mistake while defending an attack string and I take massive damage.
The style I’ve kind of adopted is a mix of zoning to get the life lead/frustrate my opponent and then quickly go on the attack when they’re looking for the stretchy arms or ready to counter a boom. A sort of counter attack style that seems to work well against most of the cast. But Ibuki just poops all over it. Any help is greatly appreciated guys: what tips can you give me for neutralising Ibuki’s offence so I can get my offensive game going?
for ibuki theres 2 different phases.
first you have to rush her down when you get a chance. stay on that ass before she gets a chance to neuter. safejumps work very well too. and teleport is your best amigo on her wakeup game.
then shes gonna wanna jump back kunai when she realizes you have the advantage. this is phase two.
patience is key here. stop rushing and stay there. if she jumps are you, srk. she most likely wont. shell go for ex neckbreak so dont get predictable with booms. once you see her sliding, neutral jump to stomp once or twice and then ambiguous crossup with the j.hk and whatever combo u want on landing.
Do you only fight terrible Ibuki players?
One thing about Ibuki, when in doubt, don’t block it as a cross-up. She’s realatively free on wake-up, so she’s pretty much yours if you knock her down.
The match-up is a lot about getting the first knockdown, so just keep your cool until you get a chance to hit confirm anything into her hitting the floor.
Dont run unnecessary risks, dont let her jump in on you for free, watch out for slides as those are a good way for her to get in, and dont boom. Go with U1 for this match-up to shut down air-mixups.
i suppose so zeni. most ibuki players run away and kunai after getting raped.
pressure is key, dont let her drop you cuz her wakeup game is all she has. i also had other methods a few posts back like ex legs on wakup to beat out her shenanigans etc.
and when she starts running just wait. same for adons crap. cant get in without walldive so you just wait. eventually they panic or time runs out and you win.
what other advise can you give zeni?
if she blocks the anbiguous crossup game you can tick spd etc. and by safe jumps i do mean crossup safe jumps of course since her ex srk kick thing can anti air you. shes like guy… safe to jump in on without ex.
Is Ibuki like Akuma in terms of her kunai? Can you Ultra 1 the air Kunai on reaction?
Cheers guys. How are supposed to be deal with Ibuki’s vortex? I think that’s probably where I’m having the most trouble. What are Seth’s escape options?
the best bet is to not allow that to happen in the first place… but when it does you can ex lighting legs on her vortex jump in. try to auto correct it in case she jumps over you. it will absorb the kunai and catch her. you can also teleport but dont get too predictable with both or she will bait that kinda stuff. if you teleport back and she punishes you with an empty jump into neck break or something then switch it up with an actual forward teleport etc. Also, sometimes you can block the kunai and her if your timing is better than hers.
and yes you can use U1 just like akumas lame running fireball game.
