Seth-in-depth Match-up Thread

Shouldn’t we make a new thread? I don’t think Wonder Chef is going to update it. I beat him awhile back and sent him a message asking if he’s going to update the thread then he blocked me. It’s kinda hard going through all 22 pages looking for something, and the Super Characters aren’t on the first page.

If he’s inactive I dont see why it’s a problem, but I’m too lazy to compile the information :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone have a list of which ultras are vulnernable to ex lightin legs?

Quick note, not reall a match-up tip, but since I started p-linking cr.lp>cr.MP, I’ve noticed I sometimes do get cr.lp>cr.lp, like the japanese players. maybe that’s why they do it. If you do the p-link too soon, you’ll get a cr.lp, but for some reason, it still links, doesn’t chain, so you cancel into lk.legs anyways. Cool shits.

And I’m all for someone creating a new match-up thread so we can actually get some organization going and quick reference.

No i think they do it for an easier combo. Since they finish with lk legs. I also think i saw a replay with inputs. No plinking done

Whats the point in cheating urself by plinking anyway? Why not just master the not so harder links?

Unless plinking works from clp to shp? Any tips on that harder link?

By cheating yourself he meant by not learning the timing and just using both to get something out of it.

But… I know the timing. I started p-linking it like… a week and a half ago. I got sick of missing it online and losing 60% because of lag, so I started using the p-link as a cushion.

Um… Plinking = cheating? So I’m guessing you don’t do 270’s for 360’s ever either?

Also c.lp > s.hp is easier (3 frame link) than s.lk > c.mp (2 frame link).

Yeah i meant cheating urself not the game. But to each his own. Yeah i shortcut the 360 because if i dont id have to jump each time i use it. Its not really a comparison because u dont need to plink to win. I really dont even know the exact way to plink. I rarely drop combos due to getting so used to the game. if i percieve i will miss the combo i stop and change it up.

But whatever works for you. My friend got used to mashing n shortcuts and once he went back to 3rd strike could not play at all due to how that game is built.

Dude… do you know what p-linking is? You just press two buttons instead of one… and it actually requires some technique (SOME). Anyways, p-linking, it rocks.

No, if you jump when trying a full 360 you’re just not fast enough, and that’s your execution. You can do standing 720’s in this game even. And you don’t need to 270 to win either, so yes it is a valid comparison.

I take it u mean 360 after ticking or a dash in right? Then yes i use the correct method. But walking up to pd someone i have to input forward, downforward, down, downback, back, and upback. How on earth do u 360 without jumping on the spot without a dash or tick?
and maybe plinking is the newest hippest thing on the block but i dont get it either. I practice it on training mode but there doesnt seem to make a difference?

Im guessing plinking would be like c.lp, c.lp, c.mp & c.lp at the same time into legs?

The way ive learned how to time my combos online is skip the crouching combos mostly. If person is standing i time the next hit by standing or crouching seth in between the hits.

Example- on standing opponent thas super close… c.lk c.lp s.lp c.mp legs…
If blocked then u dont do legs rather u can just dash in and pd cuz they expect u to finish after adapting.

If they are crouching and they block…
C.lk c.lp c.lp s.lp (far but hits low and unexpected) and u can dash in pd or boom or if ur ballsy c.mk into legs

The far s.lk makes seth so far that people will get hit sometimes cuz they dont expect it. The rest is not comboing but its safe enough to see if u should do stuff. U can even focus a dp as long as it isnt ex. And the ballsy c.mk to legs is awesome cuz it barely reaches and looks like a long ass combo. Also its character specific so be cwreful.

Ill become a believer of the plink cult once i practice it for aehile and see a difference. Any good plinking tuts out there?

How the heck do u double 360 ultra without jumping too?!

Buffer the first 360 under another move like a jab, thats the only way I know.

Because after you press up you have 4 frames before Seth jumps, it isn’t that hard.

What matters is that neither of those is cheating. please, for the love of god. Are you going to tell me that RollCancels in CvS2 were cheating too?

It’s useful under all situations. It’s just a fail-safe.

You press mp and after that you press lk. It’s an almost simultaneous press (I believe it needs to have 1~2 frames between each press). remember, MP, and then LP. it should come out in the input list as

:lp::mp:
:mp:

This is, if you do it correctly. it’s only one press on each button.
