Seth-in-depth Match-up Thread

I meant Seth-Rufus was 6-4. Advantage Seth. I always saw it that way. 5-5 in super.

After looking at the makoto thread, I’m pretty jealous on how much information they have on her with the match-ups, kara set-ups and other shenanigans. Why isn’t ours like that T_T

Because 1. They don’t have jobs 2. They play this game way too much or 3. S.I.N.dustry doesn’t give up all their secrets (I’m putting together a e-book for Seth players to refer to if they have questions on anything*)

*Only snag is I was making it before Super, so I need to go back and re-enter a bunch of shit (i.e. In-depth Match-ups [I had 12/26 done], input both frame data charts, etc.) so I think I might just get rid of the Vanilla In-depth match-ups because it doesn’t matter anymore. That, or I do both games match-ups and fuck that shit.

Or you know, more people play her, she’s a popular character, hence more info coming in. Seth forums have like what, 10 regulars? Maybe?

I tend to agree with that.

Could I help you with that? I know the match ups really well, except the Bison and Balrog match up… for some reason they give me a hard time.

I like our board. i think it’s the most organized one. It’s pretty chill around here too. I don’t even venture into the Akuma/Ryu boards because those are DEATH.

 Mad props, now imma pick the bitch up, just for the info and to be called a NinjaCW nutrider :stuck_out_tongue:

Seth vs ibuki… i can’t seem to get out of vortex even with teleport or EX dp… the fuck?

There’s a reason why it’s in her favor. You can’t teleport or you get slid, you can’t ex dp or you get target combo’d and slid. You have to block

Don’t get knocked down. If you do, go put down your stick and make a snack or something. Um seriously though just block her cross up correctly, a good Ibuki player will make this hard to do, but if you don’t panick and be patient i.e. don’t mash out EX DP it shouldn’t be too hard. If she messes up her cross up i.e. it’s not meaty, escaping is way easier.

Double Post… Damn! Sorry guys.

The best way people can help is to continually update information, give me some solid write-ups like

<Character>
Tips
Ultra 2 everytime they do this (include stipulations/discrepancies)

Things to watch out for
He can … through your Ultra 2 from this range

That helps me out a lot. I’d suggest pumping the information out as much as possible. Because I’ve been doing a lot of copying/pasting, and always adding my own 2 cents to each match-up based on if the situation ever changes (I tend to repetitively try the same things over and over and see if timing makes any difference, or if you have options to beat out their shit).

I have only spent 5 minutes in another board, and it’s generally the Hakan or Sagat boards. Everything else I tend to learn through experience or videos.

Do it. I think I met NinjaCW back when I was competing in CS to try and get into the CGS back in the day. We played on XBL a bit when i first start SF4 (I played Blanka, he played Rufus).

The easiest way to make them change this for me has been Ex Bullet Kick, You either 1. Do it too early and move away from the situation (Possibly get caught by slide [not likely]) or 2. It makes the Kuenai whiff and you get her on the recovery/landing frames and she just ate 120/250.

Quick tip on the mindset you should have against Dhalsim: Be a fucking rock. let him try to be the water and do whatever the hell he wants. You just sit in one spot and react to what he does. It’s no use trying ot get close to him through the air either…

On the contrary I find rushing dhalsim down to be really easy because of dive kick mix ups.
Meaty Tanden is extremely useful against dhalsim and he really can’t do anything about it. Make sure to abuse it.

Wait, are you actually trying to convince me that I can just jump-in and dive kick for free?

What kind of Dhalsims have you been playing? The ones I go against don’t allow any of that…

Not good Dhalsims, that’s for sure. I play against Cole and Awesome Jones pretty frequently and I land a Divekick/jump-in maybe 1/4 times if we are both on our feet.

Back.HK, Back.MP, j.MP, Ex Air Flame, Super, Ultra 2…

Yeah, keep this in mind, these all rape the shit out of Seth.

Yeah j.mp is basically impossible to beat.

We have several dhalsim players here who I play all the time offline.
One of the dhalsim players won the last arizona tournament.

I can assure you I’m not playing scrubs.
You just have to train dhalsim to anti air the way that benefits your next mixup. Good reading and proper tanden engine usage makes dhalsim a fight that doesn’t cause a lot of pain for seth.

I encourage you to play Cole or AwesomeJones on XBL then. They’ll show you what you can and can’t get away with in terms of this match-up.

I went back n forth in a set of 40 matches vs Cole and a ft5 against AwesomeJones about 2 weeks ago, so they’ll know what to do.
