Um WTF? Why would you use U2 on Guile. It is not difficult to punish LP boom with U1. Anyway, once you get Vega to a corner he becomes free like Dhalsim as he can’t escape unless you screw up. Hyakuretsukyaku punishes his stupid back flips if he tries to use it on wake-up.
How about Ibuki? Her super jumps get her in for free and the mixups.
I try to use ultra 1 vs certain guys, I just hate making a mistake and blowing my ultra 1. Atleast ultra 2 is more noob friendly lol and can chip. But for Blanka its ultra 1 all the way.
Ibuki super jumps don’t get her in for free, she can hardly alter her trajectory unlike Viper. Also every super jump or kunai throw she does is a free EX legs / Ultra / Super if not close enough for DP due to added landing recovery frames. She has a difficult time getting in on Seth but can deliver the pain when she lands a knockdown and vice versa as she has a terrible wake-up game. Once they reduce her wake-up invul frames with the patch it will be easier to time mix-ups / meaty attacks on her.
And how do you know it’s lp boom guile is using? If I’m loosing U1 ain’t happening against guile, so that’s why I never choose it.
Legs > stomps only does a small amount less damage and U1 is pretty much free anyway, so I get significantly more damage from selecting ultra 1 and doing non-ultra combos.
I know because of the distinct animation and sound start-up. ALso what is with the second part of your post? It conflicts with the first half.
No it doesn’t - like I said I select U1 for everyone except Guile so the second part of my post makes perfect sense. And as I already said, the reason I don’t select U1 for Guile is because when I’m in a position to need it I’m not going to be able to get it. And in regards to what you’ve said I just looked at frame data…
Guile’s lp, mp and hp sb’s all have the same animation, sound and startup (9 frames), ex sb has 11 frames startup - Seth’s U1 has 1+9 startup, in other words it’s impossible to catch Guile’s regular sb’s (lp, mp or hp) on reaction, though it is possible to catch his ex on reaction (I tested in training mode)… the problem is if you don’t know he’s about to ex sb, which you don’t, you have exactly 1 frame to make that decision and execute it, which just isn’t possible. In other words I gather from this your definition of “punish” is “randomly catch through guess work”? Maybe Ken would be a better character to use with this strategy?
ULTRA 22222222222222222222222222222222222 (35x 2) cause It’s all I use d:^) (the 35 is against all the characters lol)
I’m so aweful… I’ve grown used to having to get my way inside to do some damage now instead of zoning to win lol
It is not guess work, but I wouldn’t expect much from you.
Check this both of you:
To punish Guile’s Various Sonic Booms with Ultra 1 is anticipation. Everyone has the distinct pattern where Guile half to full-screen will throw a Sonic boom out of habit because of how safe they are.
To Zeniside: I’m assuming Hawkins, as do myself, only consider a Full-screen Ultra 1 the likely scenario to ever punish fireballs. The reason is because if you can punish full-screen, you can sure as hell punish anything less than.
To HawkinsT: I wouldn’t call it so much as “guess work”, nor would I ever want someone to compare me to Ken Masters. He’s from Freeattle (Seattle) like me, but it’s all good.
He meant it from one edge of the screen to the other edge of the screen when trying to punish a lp boom in his example? I thought he meant 2/3 screen distance.
That might have been the misunderstanding then. Because it’s much easier to land the Ultra the closer you are when you execute the Ultra. It’s not a matter of the start-up frames, it’s a matter of the total frames of a move when it comes down to it for using Ultra 1.
Beef squashed? Yes plz!
I know that. I usually tag the Sonic boom before it turns into a projectile or just as it leaves his hands. I can’t really do that to any other character. I suppose I just know what to look for as I use Guile a lot and keep facing them in my scene.
Yeah, you can just buffer in one QCF and wait for their projectile. Hell, I once punished a jab full screen by a Ken player. No idea how.
he didn’t block.
Nice to know you’re keeping a mature attitude while discussing a character… but I wouldn’t expect much from you.
I had a few sets with a good Ibuki player. I jumped back and did strechy arms, she did neck breaker. It grabbed me out of the air, mind out for this.
Same thing with Seth VS Hakan and he does his ground slide thing, it can hit j. stretchy arms and suck you in.
ya gotta switch to Stomps and you don’t wanna jump back on ibuki… ya wanna try and pull off the neutral jump get maybe 1 stomp in and then fierce kick c.hp etc… gotta play dirty lol
Is guile the most horrible matchup in ssfiv for Seth or what? There’s nothing I can do if he just sits in the corner spamming sonic booms it’s frustrating as hell.
Walljumping doesn’t work either as his charge times are quicker so he can flash kick me…
