I would actually argue 2005 was the last good Madden, not quite as good as 2004, but the upgrades to defense were a really good addition.
Of course after that everything kind of went to shit, but it is what it is.
Yeah Prometheus had so much promise and hype built up, that many WANTING to like it(myself included) were in denial about its gaping flaws. Such a damn shame that one didn’t turn out better.
The only hope now is for the sequel to clean up the mess and make sense of things. I that’ll reflect better on the first movie, if you look at it as build up for the second.
It wasn’t the best zombie movie out there, but it was a still a good suspense/action flick. Loved the characters, loved the music, atmosphere, set designs of the hive, etc, and yeah…the zombies weren’t bad either.
Someone else earlier mentioned that it was meant to be a prequel to the games, showing how the outbreak started. That makes me appreciate it even more! Before it was just a really slick action movie w/zombies, and little connection to the games. As a prequel though? That totally works!
Spider-Man 3 only if the first two installments weren’t so awesome. It’s also ironic that when they finally did involve Topher Grace (for some reason…) did it liquify into ass.
X-3, while technically a bad X-Men movie, was still an AWESOME action movie starring the X-Men. On that merit it succeeded and i loved it.
However, killing off professor X, cyclops, and Jean Grey for the shock-value lols? Kinda permanently screwed over the movie-verse beyond repair(please don’t bring up Professor X in that coma patient’s body in the end. That was fucked up and STUPID. Patrick stewart is still gone either way).
I give it one more Wolvie flick and maybe a follow-up to first class before the movie-verse is finally rebooted.
I thought it was a good game too but it’s when NFL exclusivity kicked in and I feel like EA didn’t innovate the game and consumers pretty much suffered from higher prices for NFL games and questionable “upgrades.” If you feel that Madden 07 is still better than Madden 10, which I do, then there’s an issue on the production side.
I did a final paper in one of my economic anti-trust courses on this topic. Twas enlightening.
I don’t know about garbagestic, but yeah the first 2 aren’t particularly good movies, they’re just basic CGI action flicks, like 20 other movies every year. Especially SM2. That was some emo shit, which is what people hate about the third. I can’t use my powers because I don’t have faith or something. At least when the same thing happened in Superman 2 there was a real reason. That and the fact that it’s just more of the same as part 1, with bad CGI and the same old “epic”, over the top action sequences which aren’t impressive if they look fake and every movie has them. Throw in forced emotional manipulation, and there you go.
Damn… insomnia and afternoon tiredness correlated with that shit has me fucking up everywhere in GD.
I can’t agree you either of you for saying what you’ve just said about SM1 SM2. They’re not great but they are definitely not the weakest links in that particular genre. That in itself deserves it’s own mention.
Raimi’s take on Spider-Man is pop-conscious, but it has a lot of heart, which goes a long way. If you’re going the pop-conscious route (i.e. you’re handling the material in a way that acknowledges the mountain of genre conventions that have built up over time), it’s very easy to get cynical and disrespectful of the character and the fans. Raimi didn’t do that, so I give him credit for that. There are plenty of lesser superhero movies that Spider-Man avoided becoming, chiefly because Raimi loves this stuff.
Sure, the Spider-Man movies are decent, especially the first one, but I never got why fans think the third one was so awful compared to the first two. I think it’s literally just because of the one scene where he’s strutting down the street like a moron. There were plenty of stupid things in part 2, like how he basically loses the fight and then Doc Oc is like “LOL oh shit you’re right this is wrong and I should stop destroying the city and trying to kill you. Thanks, Peter.” I only saw it the one time in theaters, so maybe my memory is off, though.
