Trumpet, I was glad to see you chime in on this. I wondered how you would react to the Double changes, and I’m surprised to see you didn’t react to any of the Peacock changes as well.

Can’t believe somebody complained about resets not being guaranteed. That’s about as funny as telling me that your bnb starts with a jumping attack. Couple of frames added to peacock’s recovery wouldn’t be too bad. That teleport is hard to punish and zoning characters that can jack up so much of the screen as is shouldn’t be walking around with something eerily similar to Spiral’s teleport in speed. I’m not saying I want it to happen but eh, not the worse thing possible. I’m gonna assume that the change to the IPS is to shorten the combos already discovered.
Ok so how about this: You hack MvC2 and give Cable Strider’s teleport or Sentinel’s flight mode. Dumb greedy people.

Nerf sagat they then come out with SSF4 godlike Guile, Guile complaints “brings in yun and yang” omg i hate them too wahhhh i’m a scrub if i can’t handle those characters QQ i’m american. I never see Japanese use tier excuses for losing to someone if you lose to double assist you’re the person playing you can only blame yourself. Phoenix may be stupid but everyone has the option to pick her, she is not a hidden DLC that 5% of the world has option to it’s your choice.
Any top player worth their salt (especially Viscant) will tell you that Wesker actually got nerfed compared to Vanilla…it’s just he got nerfed in a way that makes scrubs think he got buffed (buffed in areas that don’t really matter at the highest level of play). I played Wesker through a lot of Vanilla and I would take Vanilla Wesker back in a heartbeat because he would certainly be better.
The biggest sign of people not understanding UMVC3 is when the say Wesker got buffed. He got buffs but he is not buffed compared to his Vanilla version…no. Overall he got a nerf/downgrade.
The only thing that really helped Wesker was everyone else getting nerfed also. Other than that he’s still a shell of what he used to be.
Wesker is probably the most misunderstood character in the game as far as what he’s actually doing to the meta. Which he plays an important role, but that role is very overrated.
The nerfs that are happening in this game are nothing compared to the crap that happened between MVC3 and UMVC3. This is very slight stuff compared to the shit that completely changed up and down characters in MVC3 to UMVC3.
That shouldn’t happen I don’t think. Again remember that the whole point of this thread is to discuss these changes… and weather or not any changes at all should be made. I happen to have a very strong opinion on this being that the game has only been out for a month. Mike should take all of this as a compliment that we all care about his game so much. At the same time I honestly believe that he talked about the changes prior to them going live intentionally to get feedback from the community. Why else would you discuss them prior to them being released?

Actually wesker does more dmg in umvc3, not being able to combo off of gunshot and a slower counter super isn’t really a big deal with all of his other tools.
Viscant also doesn’t really win since the phoenix nerf so i’d take that with a grain of salt.
I’m not even going to discuss wesker on this post, just imo wesker is not the strongest UMvC3 character but a free xfactor is definitely a buff that covers for the other minor nerfs but anyway I am not against patches like a lot of people already mentioned here, for me they just need to take longer before they are implemented unless there is something extremely changing the balance or the playability (I’m looking at you Rolento with your after patch bug)
Yeah that’s the only thing I’m really worried about is possible bugs after the patch. Most of the stuff that’s happening unfortunately/fortunately depending on how you look at it doesn’t matter much because we really haven’t figured out the game as a whole yet.
Especially with the ratio system and what not we’re not even really going to know what these changes are really doing probably ever any way. The changes overall are very minute compared to the stuff that’s happened in other games.
Getting real fucking tired of hearing people act like HK bomber not having invincibility is gonna ruin Double/Cock.
First off, if you can’t win because you don’t have an invincible assist flying full screen causing hard knockdown, then you’re just bad, nothing else to say, you’re bad.
Second, people are acting like HK hornet bomber is ass because it doesn’t have invincibility anymore, go into training, turn on hitbox, and look at that shit, yeah, she’s fine.
Third, I believe LK bomber is still invincible, if you really need a double invincible assist, there you go.
Fourth, if it was so goddamn easy to get around (It was a pain, but never game breaking), then why is this change making so many people angry? It’s not like you’ll use that tactic at later levels because it was so easy to get around, right?
And if you’re saying that 1:Not having invincibility on HK bomber makes Double bad, or 2:Not having invincibilty on HK bomber is gonna ruin the team.

No. If people can’t learn those ToD that’s too bad? just play someone around your skill level and you’ll have just as much fun as people who do ToD do.

The most prevalent change is to the IPS, followed by the change in damage assists take. Those things affect every character, and aren’t beneficial/damaging to any one character more than another. Mike Z said he allowed it in the first place, as it would have originally been like this, because people were abusing the niceness of the system. No Tournaments would have changed that. The damage assists take was increased because A) The risk of calling out an assist is not very high if you are smart, and 2: the gap between teams and solos needed to be shortened. The adjustment only means that you can’t be stupid when calling assists. You aren’t going to complain that you need to think, are you?
Everything else is significantly minor in comparison, but the biggest ones are Parasoul’s tears, Val’s hitstun poison, and Fortune’s head. Parasoul’s tears being unscaled was unintentional, and was going to be the first thing patched anyway. Val’s hitstun deterioration (suggested by me, tyvm) is a nice gesture (that will hopefully get people to use the other poisons), but it won’t really make that much of a difference with the IPS anyway. Same with Fortunes head: it won’t matter much with IPS update anyway. And besides, the fact that the head leaps so far back is a tactical change. The way Fortune appears, she is supposed to keep her positioning throughout the match. Her supers were such that she could maintain your positioning relative to the head. The way it was before, her positioning didn’t really matter as long as she was on one side and the head on the other. I’m sure Mike wanted Fortune players to be a little more creative than they’ve been.
So, aside from things that are affecting everyone, the changes are pretty minor and are only being added (at this moment) because they caught a break and can update it for free because of the US/EU non-compatibility (unless I heard wrong). SO! Anyone who is upset at the changes is either a scrub, likes broken things, or is trolling… or is on Capcoms D*ck.
i believe mike said that he would only patch things that are not the way they were supposed to be. since all of these besides hornet bomber are things that mike wanted to change we can assume that they are not they way they are supposed to be. (and even if mike did not want to change hornet bomber he has said in the past that the HK version was not supposed to have invincibility)
think what you will, but it has happened before and i cannot fathom why mike puts up with all the collective crap that spews from this forum. there may be diamonds in the rough, but sometimes enduring the rough just isn’t worth it.
