A WEEK UNTIL RELEASE! :lovin:
Post your gamer tag here if you’re going to play.
Terrible. Don’t make people go on Dustloop lol.
Is there an IRC channel for this?
That site tried giving me a worm of some sort last time I went to it :<
But ya, I’ll have Duo sometime around early June (gonna delay ordering it a week and have it ship with Deathsmiles IIX, which comes out the following week. Maybe Ketsui too). If you want some games send me a FR saying you’re from SRK. I’ll probably suck (its been at least a year or more since I played the original) for a while tho.
Yeah I’ll suck as well but I’m picking it up.
wait so this isn’t coming to the states?
Not at the moment. May 20 release is the region-locked JP release.
Considering the first sold like shit in the US (though deservedly so because Ubisoft didn’t promote it at all and slapped some ugly budget coverart on it. Also shouldn’t have asked full price), I highly doubt the sequel gets picked up unless Aksys or a weirdo small publisher takes a gamble.
We don’t know if it won’t work on non NTSC-J 360 yet (although it most likely will be locked). Will test it on my friend’s North American 360 when I get the game.
Also, I made a thread on Dust Loop cus this one is dead and don’t know if OP even checks it anymore.
Amiami still has 4 more pre-order slots for the limited edition with exclusive Shinobu/Philomena teleca available, so hop on that while it lasts.
EDIT: Amiami is sold out of everything now. Hit up Play-Asia, JapanVideoGames or NCSX.
PV in HD glory is now available via Japanese XBL
I just got this game today and have no clue what Im suppose to do. Is there a site / faq that can explain the fundamentals of this game?
Just got my copy today!

dunno if there is a formal FAQ in english currently out but i’ll try my best to help you. the following info is relevant to arcade DUO ver2.00, hopefully it carries over to the console ver.
not quite sure if it’s already common knowledge among the lot of you, so i’ll just go ahead and post what i’ve come to understand about the new controls and system. i know it may all be useless(now that the game is out), but i figure those of us who haven?t kept up with the latest news or are missing out on this region locked gem of a game wouldn?t want to be completely left in the dark.
please read the shmups forum rev.x guide by dai jou bu posted earlier by orka, if you haven?t already, as most descriptions/details pertaining to controls and interface still apply in DUO. the following is a brief rundown of the controls, interface, and partner system:
Controls
M = Main Weapon
S = Sub Weapon
C = Barrage, used in conjunction with command inputs to execute special attacks.
A = Action, which appears to be Act old (neutral+A = Barrier, direction+A = Dash).
M+S = seems like an attack which can negate danmaku. also when used as a C.C. attack, will deplete some of the opponent?s charge gauge. can be guarded using Barrier.
S+C = Assist Attack (outside opponent?s B.O.S.S. mode) or Bomb (during opponent?s B.O.S.S. mode.)
A+M+S = B.O.S.S. mode
Interface
1 - Armor Gauge
2 - Charge Gauge
3 - Status Gauge ? consists of Main and Sub Weapon gauges
4 - B Stock ? appropriately labeled for B.O.S.S./Bomb
5 - Assist Icon ? displays if you have an Assist Attack
6 - Timer
Partner System
the most notable addition is the new partner/assist system. in DUO partners are viewed more as support characters (think arcana heart as opposed to the vs series), influencing 3 important characteristics for your rounder: enhancement type, bomb, and assist attack.
as you can see from the B.O.S.S. & partner section from g.rev?s official site(click Enter > System > B.O.S.S. & ???), the partner characters are organized in a 3 column, 4 row selection grid. the columns determine enhancement type (as well as bomb), and the rows correspond to assist attack.
the B.O.S.S. & partner section shows the original partner select shared by all pilot characters in the first version of DUO. it seems in ver2.00 every pilot character now has their own personal list of partners (which may or may not consist of the other pilot characters), this explains why you may see pairings like Mika/Fab, Changpo/Cui, etc. although the partner select may vary visually between pilots, the structure and function remain the same for all (every character has access to the same enhancement types, bombs, and assist attacks.)
Enhancement Type
your rounder will receive certain stat boosts (and some cases a reduction) in certain areas depending on which enhancement type you choose; there are 3 in total. the left column of characters represent attack type; middle column, defense type; and right column, speed type.
Attack Type: increased attack power, but the power of your defense is decreased a bit (increase in damage received.)
Defense Type: increased defense power. while using barrier the charge gauge depletion amount is increased?(<-not sure if that?s correct?..maybe it means you can use barrier longer.) speed is also decreased.
Speed Type: ???
Assist Attack
assists are activated by hitting S+C when “ASSIST OK” is displayed at the bottom corner of the screen(your player side). they can only be used once per round (outside your opponent’s B.O.S.S. mode). each row of partners represent a specific assist type. there are 4 types total, from top to bottom row:
???(Defensive Unit)
??(Bombing Raid)
???(Napalm)
???(Offensive Unit)
Bomb
bomb style simply depends on your selected enhancement type: attack type gets ?Explosion,? defense type gets ?Wave,? and speed type gets ?Hyper Beam.? bombs are activated by hitting S+C while your opponent is in B.O.S.S. mode. note that activating bomb consumes one B stock and can only be used once during your opponent’s B.O.S.S. mode.
[NOTE]: info and pics are from the official g.rev site as well as a tutorial from the g.rev youtube channel. i should mention my japanese is not perfect so there may be errors/mistranslations. i would be grateful if somebody can correct/confirm all this.

^ iirc i do believe there are still a few ppl who play the first SnR. not much activity atm though.
shmups forum SnR2 thread
^ great place for info on updates/revisions or any SnR related banter in general.
So I noticed if you change the buttons from default mapping, button combination inputs for commands (assist, boss) no longer work.
Is there a way around this?
This is a known glitch. Grev has announced that they will fix it.
http://maglog.jp/grev/Article1031160.html
For now, the workaround:
Go to ???(Settings)???(Controller), and set the buttons so that 1P and 2P have the same button settings.
People using sticks should make the arcade stick button settings the same as well.
Kind of a wonky translation, but try it and see if it works?
Blargh. Just when I don’t have an J360.
Sad.
=(
Bumping this thread for orka.
GDLK game is GDLK
lol thanks Tiggy.
My 360 stick broke at the perfect timing Saturday, so I’ve been using pad. A new HRAP EX SE is one my way, though…
Yes this game is a ton of fun.
I have been posting character-specific strategies over at Shmups for those interested:
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17651
I’m also near the top of the achievement leaderboards for the moment: :wgrin:
http://www.mygamercard.net/leaderboard.php?gt=&g=1218&z=&c=&x=38&y=18
But that Score Attack clear and High Rounder rank is pretty hardcore…
If anyone has any questions about the game let me know. If you want character-specific strats hit me up at shmups since we’re trying to centralize info there.
It’s a real shame the first game was so atrociously marketed. This game is genuinely good whereas the first one was only so-so. Localization would have to take into account the large volume of text and dubbing required, so I think any localization company would balk at it. This one will probably stay J360 only for those reasons. : /
Hey I asked for a bunch of general info. over at shmups.com but I thought I’d post here too. Thanks for anything you can give me.
I made an IRC channel!

I gotta get this game.
