ill try my best
Hi guys,
How do you take the E-clip off a ls-32? I have been trying for a bit. I feel like I am going to break it and can’t get it off. It is shaped different than a sanwa one.
Retaining Ring on Seimitsu LS-32(-01) is not an E-clip, or E-ring.
But is a C-clip, or Circlip.
There is tool made for those.

Ahh, I see. Gotta go buy one I guess. Thanks.
Damn, I wanted to switch out springs today, hehe.
You don’t need to buy tool if you don’t want to though.
You can try tying string to the ends of C-ring and pull apart.
I don’t know how you would put back with string though.
Laugh.
Honestly,
I think anybody that buys an LS-32-01 would be better off taking off the C-clip, throwing it away, and using a retaining E-clip to keep the joystick together.
Here’s why –
a) Over time, IF you have to take the LS-32 apart to adjust spring tension, the C-clip will become deformed and harder to use to keep the stick together.
I HAVE ruined an E-clip trying to put it onto an LS-32, but that was ONE E-clip. They’re only 25 cents a-piece versus spending $5, $7, or $10 for a new tool to take a C-clip. What else are you going to use that C-clip tool for???
b) You have to use a special tool to take the C-clip off the LS-32. Then, after you’ve gotten the C-clip back on, you have to use pliers or something like that to force it back into shape! If the metal C-clip isn’t crunched back into shape, your LS-32 will fall apart in your stick base. I’ve had that happen to me.
The only thing needed to take off an E-clip is a small flathead head screwdriver. You push it back on with a combination of cloth/fabric (to protect your fingers/skin) and muscle. The small flathead screwdriver is handy for the E-ring removal as well as terminal screw tightening a bunch of miniature screw tasks. Definitely not a waste of money to get this tool.
Seriously, a 5/16 or 3/8 inch E-clip works fine with the LS-32 to keep it together. I’ve been lucky with my 3/8" E-clips because they don’t grind against the bottom of the LS-32 sticks I own. I tried the 5/16" size E-clip but practically bent the thing to get it on…! Others have managed to get the 5/16 size to work but I felt the 3/8 was better in my case…
George is definitely right. I wouldn’t bother buying a tool to remove it though. I made two loops out of stranded wire and pulled like hell with pliers on each side. It’s an exercise in frustration but it should eventually pop off. Once it’s off toss it in the trash and put an e-clip in there. They’re apparently 25 cents at Ace Hardware and 60 cents for a pair at Home Depot. They’re in the drawers next to the screws at Home Depot if you go that route.
I used a slightly large flatheaded screwdriver to take the C clip off. To put it back on I had to sand the shaft a little, but I still managed to do it with the same screwdriver. I definitely prefer the E Clip though.
Thanks for the info guys. Yea, I can’t get it off right now, I’m pissed, lol. I’ll give it a go tomorrow.
Strangely at a Japanese homegoods store called Daiso Japan, I found a c-clip tool for $3.00. I think Daiso is only in California though. It is pretty much a Japanese dollar store like place, but 75% of things cost $1.50
short
so after installing the LS-56 in my madcats SE stick i realized how short it is
question for those of you that might know.
i have two ls-56-01’s that have LS-33 stamped on both pcbs; is that normal?
also to the OP - what plate did you use to install the 56 in your SE stick? i used Keyhole Hangers I got forl ike .50 to install mine.
All LS-55-01 and LS-56-01 have “LS-33” on PCB.
Seimitsu MS Mounting Plate is used to install.
The LS-56(-01) comes default with VF Mounting Plate.
Need to replace that with MS Mounting Plate, which is from LS-55(-01) stock.
is there anyway of making the shaft longer for the LS-56 in The SE STICK
height
anyone?
it might be a little ugly but use etokki.com shaft extender for one. the finishes are different for JLF and LS-32 i have both extenders so you will have to accept the chrome finish
or rebuild whole shaft with extended shaft
for jlf http://www.arcadeshop.de/product_info.php?products_id=854&language=en
for ls-32 http://www.arcadeshop.de/Seimitsu-Joysticks-Shaft-Extender-LS-32_880.html
i dunno if the second way works tho
also would like to spam shaft extender tutorial ; here-> http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=227289&p=8458313&highlight=#post8458313

thanks atleast someone cares
That Shaft Extender from laugh and Extended Shaft by Luigi from ArcadeShop.de is for LS-32(-01) Shaft.
LS-32(-01) Shaft is not same thickness as other Joysticks.
It is 10mm while others are 9mm.
In that case, will the JLF extender work with the LS-56? I’m about to put a plexi top on the stick of mine that uses one, and I know it’s going to be too short when I do.
jdm is not saying it wont work, read my post. !T W!LL WORK. just will be UGLY because of the thickness for one, and the chrome finish for two
