HSS-0136 is dual modded for PS.
Versus City bezels are awaiting PS360+ (and some cleaning). The blast city control panels are factory fresh.
The TEK-case is also awaiting a PS360+ (so pumped for this PCB to finally come out)
Virtua Stick High Grade modded to also have DB15 Neo Geo compatible out. (I have another one but when I took pictures of all my stuff it was in the background somewhere)
I just bought a SS HS-0130. Canāt wait to use it. I want to mod the original 2 player panel to make it work with Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. I already have 2 Xbox 360 TE PCBās. What else would I need to dual mod this badboy. Iām guessing I can use these PCBās along with a one of those PCBās that Toodles offers. Can someone help me out?
Just got a Saturn Virtua Stick HSS-0136 today. ASCII parts unfortunately, so what are my mod options? I know LS-56-01 fits without much hassle, are any other Seimitsu models also relatively easy to put in? Are there any buttons (no brand preference) I could put in without sanding?
I doubt Korean buttons fit, theyāre quite long.
Stick-wise, any of the LS-33 family (-33, -55, -56, -58) is probably ok. Not sure about shaft lengths.
I have some Crown buttons in my other stick that arenāt too long, but they arenāt wide enough. Seems like the biggest buttons readily available right now are for 30 mm holes and the HSS-0136ās are a little wider than that.
As for shaft length, I really donāt like how short the stock ASCII stick is. Iād be curious to see shaft comparisons for the Seimitsu models listed if anyone has that info.
Agetec Modded w/ MCC, JLF, with Rollie /Sanwa Switches. Client wanted to keep memory card functionality, so modded it accordingly. Also added 10mm Select button on the front. Gonna miss this oneā¦ Fortunately, I have 2 more to work on! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
From what I remember on the earlier HSS-0136/HSS-0130 threads, the LS-56/-01 is the most common Seimitsu/Seimitsu knock-off used in the later production Sega Saturn joysticks. The LS-56 and knock-off variants seem to have been popular in the early to mid-1990s according to people who collect all those earlier production joysticks.
{If nobody collects the past, how can we produce better, new product and avoid recreating the type of !$!@$!@ that used to pass for pro-level???}
(Ascii joysticks generally arenāt THAT badā¦ Mileage differs on the buttons, though. Some models have acceptable buttons, others have awful buttons.)
Personally, my interest in that old era isnāt strong ā itās more interesting to have the information IN CASE you decide to buy an older case and need to re-equip or want to mod it with current in-production parts.
If I ever go with another early Sega joystick for modding, itād probably be the HSS-0136ā¦ NEVER AGAIN am I going to mod another Agetec case. Iām through with those. Iāve had it with all the messes between Dremeling and filing/sanding three of those cases on top of painting them!
Biggest pains-in-the-butt to mod. The Hori Astrocade-style cases (T5, HRAP 3, HRAP 2, etc.) are much easier to mod. At least you donāt have to shave off half (exaggeration, yes) the original case to fit in parts!
I seriously doubt the HSS-0136 can be much worse than the T5 or Arcana Heart 2 joysticks were to modā¦
OMG you nabbed one of the Virtual On Hori twin sticks. Well it is license by Sega so I sure it counts. With those $90 each Sanwa JFJ joysticks.
Finding the Seimtsu counterparts was near impossible.
Does Sony know something about Segaās plans because I donāt recall Virtual On or any game like that being released for PS3ā¦ Heck, the closest game to it on PS3 would probably be Armored Core IV/V. I donāt recall any game series aside from Virtual On ever using the Twin Stick and itās real sad; I donāt think I can justify $400+ for a controller that works with only one game. (My $65-$80 Saturn Twin Stick at least works on the Dreamcast with a converter, too. Itās a lot easier to eat an $80 controller versus one that costs more than a new PS3 does now.) I have more games that I could use Horiās newest Flight Stick with on PS3 and at least that controller has reprogrammable function, too!
I doubt Hori will manufacture a lot of these Twin Sticks. Heck, theyāve made more VLX joysticks at this point in time than they ever will twin sticks.
The mech games aside from Virtual On really could have made decent use of Twin Sticks. Why donāt the Gundam games and other branded mechs take advantage of this??? Itās a crying shame developers never programmed compatibilitycontrol layouts into games to use Twin Stick controllers.
At least I wonāt have to hunt for a Japanese PS2 release unless I really want itā¦
Are Marz and Operation Moongate being bundled together like the most recent Capcom Marvel fighter re-releases on PSN/XBL were? That would make more sense than charging us twice for basically the same game. As I recall, there are just different level changes between the VO releases ā Saturn version being the least faithful because of the weaker hardware (compared to Model 2ā¦ Why oh why didnāt Sega go with an economical, easier to program hardware than Models 1-3 and the Saturn???).
Some of those Sega Ages discs are hard to find.
The Japanese are getting those two games along with the already released (US, at any rate) VF2, Fighting Vipers, and Sonic the Fighters.
4 out of 5 isnāt badā¦ (I hear the Sonic fighting game is awful, though. I already know I like Fighting Vipers from having played the port on the Saturn and FV2 on the Dreamcast.) No firm release date that I can see for VO on PSNā¦ Iāve only seen āwinter releaseā on a few websites when I checked.
I still donāt understand why a bunch of the Sega Ages games never got released in the US.
At least we got a half-decent deal with the Sega Collection that had Space Harrier and VR Racing on it even if they werenāt the most exact ports of the arcade games. People that bitch about that disc evidently arenāt aware that all the games on the US release disc were released INDIVIDUALLY on the Sega Ages disc (1 game per disc as opposed to the 6-8 we got on one disc in the US). Come to think of it, VR Racing still hasnāt had a half-decent port aside from the 32X version (which doesnāt count as far as Iām concerned. Only the Virtua Boy and Sega CD are worse than the 32X).
Maybe someone will make a Saturn or DC twin stick to PS3 adapter or at least figure out some project box set-up so that nobody has to throw away the original PCBās. I sure donāt want to junk a perfectly good Twin Stick that I still use with the old systems ā even for a superior PS3 port. The project box makes the most senseā¦ Too bad a DS3 clone has to be sacrificed for PS3 compatibility if someone goes that route. Iād imagine the twin sticks are mimicking the analog joysticks on the DS3 pad unless theyāre keeping them digital. Aside from using the Twin Stick controller, Iāve thought that the Dual Shock controllers had the best set-up for Virtual On out of all the stock system controllersā¦
