LOL @ the Galactus assist super
It’s not inconceivable. It just doesn’t make sense. Why would the skrull shape-shift into a form that didn’t give him any additional powers. They’re fighting for planet Earth. This is the last stand. Why not shape shift into something that would actually help them in the battle for planet earth instead of something that is more or less a dead weight. Poor storytelling is what.
Drawing him taking Galactus’ form just makes us ask more questions. Does he have galactus’ powers? If he does… why did he get punked by Stature? If he doesn’t… why did he take his form in the first place? Why not take a form of someone whose powers he can actually emulate?
I don’t know whose idea it was… (Bendis/Yu) but it was still a mistake IMO.
Because they have zero knowledge on the aspects of cosmic power. Hell the only reason why the skrulls wielding Thor like powers in Thor’s story for instance is because of Beta Ray Bill’s Stormbreaker. Otherwise the skrulls would’ve gotten killed in one issue.
The skrulls only have knowledge of powers they know and have come across. Anything else is foreign to them which is why Fury has his Secret Warriors since they have powers the skrulls don’t know about.
captain america has super soldier serum… the shit is so good, they have made 500000 heroes trying to replicate it
LOL technically the Carnage symbiote took over Silver Surfer in 2 issues of ASM. He became “Cosmic Carnage” who looks EXACTLY like Carnage riding Silver Surfer’s board. If that’s not the lowest point in Silver Surfer’s career than I don’t know what is. :wasted:
Right. So if they can’t emulate Galactus’ powers… why draw him taking Galactus’ form? This is the battle for planet earth. Why take a form which gives you ZERO powers in the battle for planet earth.
I’m not arguing about whether or not he has Galactus’ powers. I’m arguing that they shouldn’t have drawn him taking Galactus’ form in the first place.
Take it two ways. One the whomever penciled it probably did it for shits and giggles and two they probably took the form for intimidation purposes.
Rellmane:
I’ve always took the super soldier serum as something that basically gives you peak human conditioning and all around athleticism.
Oh my life!
That is bad.
Then they had Sentry rip apart Carnage.
Trying to make out that Sentry is better than the Surfer now?
…
It’s not even a major point in the story. The mere fact that Stature took the Skrull out in one punch should have made you realize that the Skrull is weak.
Look at Kusanagi02’s answer.
naa it gives u far beyond that son
and sentry is 20 x better then carnage , carnage was the sacrificial goat to show sentrys power level
hmm you may have a point. Though that guy who raised MVP prior to the Initiative was the only one to come close to replicating the serum to an extent.
Shits and giggles? I’m definitely laughing. That’s for sure.
Intimidation purposes? Possibly. Though it didn’t seem to work on Stature (one of the less experienced heroes on the battlefield) at all. It just seems to me the skrulls can’t even be considered a threat at this point.
It’s not a major point to the story… but it reinforces the major point that skrulls are weak overall. They aren’t worthy of having a crossover. I think that they could have done the story as part of New Avengers/Mighty Avengers story arc rather than a company wide crossover.
Secret Invasion #1 was done really well and I thought they were going to elevate the skrulls to a valid threat, but as the story went on, it was obvious that the opposite was happening. To me, Skrulls are slightly above Hydra and AIM in terms of deserving a company wide crossover.
There’s still 1 issue left though. Maybe they can turn things around for me.
Initially the Skrulls were a definite threat especially after seeing the Illuminati tangle with the first super skrull that had all their powers.
The problem came, and it was explained in the Mighty Avengers with the skrull Pym, was that the skrulls didn’t factor in all things that would fuck their plans up like Nick Fury plotting against them, Thor coming back to life, and them not finding the Scarlett Witch.
So now they went from this big threat to humankind to basically back to their old bumbling selves.
You all based this on because one Skrull looking like Galactus and getting peaced out quickly by Stature.
It was the heroes’ Last Stand. Maybe Stature is running on adrenaline. Stature even beats on the Skrull Pym. I’m pretty sure at this time the intimidation factor of that Skrullactus is gone. The heroes won’t be making a last stand if the Skrulls aren’t a threat.
And if they weren’t a threat, How the hell did they even made it to this? The Heroes lost before regrouping and fighting back.
Read the whole series first before spouting off and saying the whole series sucks because of one panel showing a girl(who defeated a high ranking skrull officer) fighting off one guy who looks like Galactus.
Kusanagi02 I don’t even know what was the point of keeping the sole reason of the defeats alive; Reed Richards. The one who loves you got his butt kicked by Hercules.
He’s black. People dont belive he could do all that asskicking without cursing.
It’s obama/mccain all over again.
j/k
Heck i would expect cap to take out the same amt of people panther did. Not surprising at all.
No it’s not just based on the one skrull looking like Galactus and getting peaced out quickly. That’s just one example.
If the intimidation factor is gone… then the Skrull shouldn’t have used the Galactus form and turned into someone whose powers he can actually emulate. Stupidity is another reason why the skrulls aren’t a valid threat.
The heroes are making a last stand… but I really don’t see any skrull seriously beating up on the heroes. The heroes are having a walk in the park in the physical battle. It’s like they’re facing an army of Hydra agents. They’re just weak. You said so yourself.
Like I said before. The infiltration and the start was good. It in the latter issues where they reverted back to their jobber status. The skrull queen was killed by an arrow.
I’ve never said the whole series sucked. I’ve said that what I’ve read so far sucked (minus the first issue which I really enjoyed). I will read the last issue and again spout off my opinion. If that bothers you, then the SRK forums aren’t the place for you. Also it’s not based on one panel. The Galactuskrull panel simply tipped it over the edge.
I wish they would’ve emphasized the Skrull gods death a little bit more. It would’ve been interesting to see the skrulls looked stunned as the find out there God was crushed by Hercules.
Keeping Richards alive was a dumbass mistake but then again how would’ve they know that Skrull Marvel was gonna fuck there ships up and Agent Brand would save the day.
I have to agree with the intimadation factor. Though one would have to think … if they could imitate galactus or match his power than they could’ve saved there own planet.
But i still think intimidation was the goal of choosing that form.
yeah… I think skrull arrogance or… skrullogance was there downfall… they were quick to peace out… … you’d think they would’ve been super quick to peace out Reed too.
In an unrelated note If the skrulls wanted to have a kick ass army of people that knew how to peace out heroes they shoulda focused there efforts on people like sabertooth, deadpool (they did), and Punisher
So yeah newest Avengers The Initiative came out today. Definitely a good one

[details=Spoiler] Now this is heating up. This is spread out over a few locals, as the Skrull Kill Crew, and friends, mount a hit and run campaign against the Skrulls plan to activate the sleeper cells in all groups. The Skrulls find out how they are making the jumps and follow them and ambush them when next they jump, with the lamest bunch of Skrull marines we’ve seen. You see them flying down to engage the SKK, but they never even get any panel time.
But this isn’t the point. While this is going on, the devious Ant-Man has seen Master plans of the Skrulls, and hitched a ride with the Skrull Marines to the SKK,and tells them what it is. Dugan Skrull has broken out Starks Doomdsay device, setting up aerials all over the country to suck a major part of the planet into the negative zone if all goes belly up. The SKK start to send people around the country to destroy aerials to stop this from happeneing.
Meanwhile, Fury and his YA are in his hideout and come out for the big fight in Central Park. No mention by this time where the real Veranke has gone too, so we still don’t know if Hawkeye arrowed her in SI #7.
Good issue all around and oh yeah, Thor Girl turns out to a skrull. Surprise, surprise [/details]
