Scrolling Beatemups

The sor project looks pretty amazing, its a streets of rage remake, with redrawn art and tons of new moves and features:

SOR2 has always been my favorite beat 'em up. Recently I’ve been playing some Denjin Makai II/ Guardians with my brother and I’ve beginning to love this game. I can’t really make up my mind, but both games kick so much butt.

Denjin Makai II/ Guardians just has an incredible depth and lots of unique characters, I prefer playing as Grapplers so I stick to Tulks in this one. His Frankensteiner is insane and he has 2 projectile attacks aswell (not counting the universal projectile attack). Also P. Belva is freaking insane. This game has a combo counter and diversity among the characters and juggling is just beautiful.

Hot Blooded Family (Thermal Blood - Parent Child) - Nekketsu Oyako is pretty cool aswell, but SOR2 and DMII takes the crown.

alien vs predator and battletoads the best!

Alien vs Predator was one of the sickest beat em ups of all time.

Aces Wild, baby!

Hey all!
A bit of a shameless plug here. I’m looking for solid feedback on a game I’ve been working on.
Check it out here and be sure to visit the thread hyperlinked at the top of this link.

It’s a crazy beat 'em up where you take on hordes of ninjas. It’s still far from a release, but I’d really like to hear your feedback from playing it, or at least watching some videos.
Thanks!

Looks cool Tea!

The Korean online scroller I had linked to a while back is headed to PC in english!!

Hello! :karate:

I don’t play online games much yet so I’m not really sure how this works, but I applied to be a tester for the ‘closed beta’ and the only options for nationality were USA and Canada.

I’m in the UK. Does this mean I won’t be able to play it when it’s released?!?

Say it aint so man…

I’m with you on that front. It’s hard to play SOR2 after SOR3. I liked the music and all, but I spend more time listening to the music of SOR/BK2 then I do playing the game. The gameplay is a bit too stiff for me after playing SOR3. It’s also not as fast and as smooth as the 3rd game was. Smooth framerate, impressive graphics (well animated), and a serious deadly overtone is what made SOR3 a masterpiece. It may not have the best soundtrack, but it’s still a memorable game.

Im sure u’ll be able to play the game when its released, but i dont think u’ll be able to take part in the closed beta if its region specific. They may do a second stage where they open it up to Euro territories too as many other recent betas. Its about them setting up the servers in different places i think…

ive heard from multiple sources that dungeon fighter online will be north american region only.

aka, ip block all outside this region.

playing the korean version is easy tho, and has no ip block

d’ow!!!

Ah man that’s ridiculous that I’ll be able to play the Korean version but not the English language version. That’s a joke, there must be some way around it. I really don’t want to have to muddle through all the kanji. Goddamnit I was looking forward to beating the crap out of gunners with a fighter.

fighter is indeed fun! I had a grappler, but found fighting alot of class’s insanely hard. Very rewarding to play tho =D.

priest > In-fighter (not sure english name) is another very fun class. Think of boxer, with aoe buffs, and horizantal + vertical movement!

but honestly, i have played most of the character class’s, and I can say without a doubt, this is the best beat-em up ive ever played. not the most nostalgic by any means, but my god is it fun and worth the effort to get working.

Well, I really, really hope that somehow I’ll be able to play the English language version. I know it’s not really about plot but every time I see a speech bubble come up and not know what the fuck it says, that’s going to be annoying.

Will go that way only if I have to. Love the look of this game. Fighter even has Blaze-style suplex haha.

Oh and on that note, to put all of my (overly) passionate defence of SoR2 Blaze to the test I’m gonna meet up with a relative who swears his Axel is top-tier (does well in Mania difficulty, apparently). Going to see how my Blaze can hang with that. Will post results here.

And will probably play more SoR3 too, interesting posts on that topic.

Cadillacs.

and Dinosaurs.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is awesome. Anyone play Denjin Makai 2. I haven’t explored the game that much (shitload of characters) but that blonde chick is beast.

I missed the sign up for the NA Dungeon Fighter closed Beta. Are any of you guys playing the korean version having a good time questing an stuff? Or do you wing it in where to go.

remember vendetta/crime fighters 2? 1st beatemup where you could kick people in the nuts…

any success with the 1 coin final fight? it’s not impossible but highly unlikely. the arcade where i used to play this was set on the highest difficulty with 2 lives and some people were getting as far as stage 5 with one coin!!

there’s that section of the 5th stage with those guys that can block. they’re all over the place. eveyone usually died there.

hey cray/lebowski, any tips to get past those goddamn twins in sor1? I can spam special on them the first time around, but in mr. x’s mansion they keep kicking my ass. =/

I one credit cleared Streets of Rage 2 the other day. Damn easy on defaults, I might go for it on a higher difficulty or with a different character (I used Axel).

But today I think I’ll go for TMNT: Hyperstone Heist. Should be pretty easy since boss 4 has no attacks of its own; it just throws mousers (worth a point each… infinite boss milking and heaps of free extends).

Edit: I got my Hyperstone Heist 1CC. The replay is uploading to youtube now. Btw all my beat 'em up videos are here http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=3041F98C94B74CE5

I’ve seen some pretty awesome superplays of Final Fight. I’m not too good at it myself, but I think the trick is to jump backwards, past all the enemies, lock yourself in a corner and hit everyone with your infinite (unless you’re Haggar). This is a little harder to do in all the ports I’ve played because they don’t let you “jump past” most of the enemies.
