When the hell will the U.S. government enforce a no travel to and from Africa.
Yeah, this Ebola shit terrifies me to no end.
The government has MASSIVELY fucked up. Should’ve cancelled all flights immediately after the first patient
I always wondered how they would respond in a situation like this…those zombie/apocalypse movies were right, the government is quite incompetent
Government dunt care unless the important people get it.
Can’t stop business.
It’s just a matter of time until someone with ebola gets on a train in NYC and then thousands of New Yorkers are going to have ebola as well.
@Elder: Shit may possibly get REAL. Never thought I’d see something like this in my lifetime
So the speculation is that the worker infected themselves when taking off the protective gear.
Don’t you have to go through some sort of bleach shower before even thinking about removing gear?
CDC sounds to be lying about the “its not highly contagious” bit though. Even taking off their suits, if it got on their hands, could they and would they not just sanitize their hands and the suit be sanitized before they take it off? Not enough is known about the nature of the Ebola virus and its strains and with it’s mortality rate it honestly worries me.
The first instance was in a cotton factory from infected cotton being in the air ffs
Just saw another report on the news which was kinda fucked up, so the reporter is in Africa somewhere showing off one of the medical camps set up to help deal with the crisis and it was already full to capacity, a family drive up with a dude whos been sick for 4 days. They turn him away after lengthy protest from the family. Anyway the report ends that the guy died not long after, so am guessing as soon as you show signs of this desease, ie coughing or anything then your basically fucked. This guy seemed like he was easily saveable. Think the media is not really giving the full facts of how much a death sentence this shit is.
Spanish mob still locked in armed conflict with the police trying to save the dog as well it seems, those guys need to check their priorities.
Ok just checked. You’re supposed to go through some sort of ultraviolet device for decontamination.
Probably means that the individual was infected when they removed their gloves. They likely touched their eyes or mouth outta habit and didn’t even realize what they did.
Don’t scare me like that man, i have to take the train everywhere. Might call out of work
This shit scares the fuck out of me.
You know whats scarier than ebola? I bet on the NBA finals and lost I couldn’t pay all the money so my neighbor called it even if I gave him my box of magnums. 3 days in a row right after I pulled it with 3 different girls I aint know before. Havent seen or heard from any of them since.
The scary part is the unmitigated incompetence and stupidity of the people who are supposed to have a handle on this shit.
This shit should have been nipped in the bud as soon as that dude was confirmed as having it.
As long as the number of cases keep going up and there is no cure, it is only a matter of time before we reach a critical mass of infection.
After that cases will increase at an exponential rate and quarantine will be useless. We would have to produce a cure or simply let the virus run its course.
If this outbreak was under control the numbers wouldn’t still be going up. And until those cases stabilize or decrease, I feel there is cause for concern despite the placating rhetoric spewed out from the government.
At this point, given the massive flaws that our systems of protection apparently have, I’d say a massive global outbreak is inevitable. I’d say there’s only one way all this will stop before it gets really out of hand.
We can hope that nature is merciful. We can hope that we can be lucky enough to dodge yet another bullet.
That’s all we have now. Luck.
But I’m not sure how much faith I’d put in luck. Statistically speaking, we’re overdue for a world cleansing.
you sound depressed as shit…
[details=Spoiler] take 2 of these and call me in the morning

I aint going to take it lying down

If Matriarch still lives on a reservation, then she is in a way better position to survive an epidemic than most. People won’t know what’s up until you see how real Tribes are gonna keep it.
Looks like dallas might start burning down soon. It was nice knowing you fellas xD
What concerns me is that some dumb Americans who believe “Africa is a country” might start acting prejudicial towards any African-looking/sounding person due to paranoia.
Some South African dude starts getting a case of the sniffles and people might start wildin’.
^Taking chances right now is dumb.
snip Think the media is not really giving the full facts of how much a death sentence this shit is.
They never do. Here’s the FACTS.
The first outbreak occurred in 1976, and the average mortality rate of the disease for all those years is 50%. Between 25 and 90%; usually on the high end of the scale. As of 3 days ago(October 10th, 2014: http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/outbreaks/2014-west-africa/index.html) there have been 8,376 (suspected) cases of this thing. 4,024 of those ended up with death.
People are flat-out refusing to comprehend what’s at stake here.
…It’ll cull the those sorts, if nothing else, so, silver lining, kind of.
This shit scares the fuck out of me.
People deliberately being cruel and/or stupid about this frightens me more, IMO.
People and the news media are getting a little crazy over this outbreak. A LOT of fear fanning and worry in the populace.
Yes, an outbreak is serious and it’s a serious disease, but it is HIGHLY doubtful that it is going to spread to any great extent out of Dallas.
