Picking the big names to win is just smart. Like any sport people will pick the big names to go all the way. In basketball LA/Boston, in baseball NNY/Boston etc. Does that mean they’ll win it all no but they do have the best shot at winning it. That’s why we have the word upset.

That may be true but to americans that only know of players like Daigo/Mago etc. they’re gonna tend to pick them over someone they have no info about. To the japanese players it might not have been an upset but to people that are not familiar with all they players there, they’ll think it’s an upset.

Plus they only do one match fights. Even the best of the best can lose one match to someone who’s 2nd rate if it’s one match. They just have to be on point for one game and BOTB gets knocked out.
