not too shabby for a character ranked almost at the very bottom on the so-called tier list at eventhubs
Well like I’ve said…in Japan there’s more incentive to use characters despite tier lists. Especially with the card system where you’re forced to use the same character to up your stats and the single elimination format of most Japanese tourneys. Most players just end up sticking with their character and using them simply because they fit their play style. Obviously Japanese players only concern themselves with the part of anybody’s tier list that ever really matters…Sagat is the best character. For the Japanese players that are hungry and looking for the W…they’re all turning to Sagat. None of that praying you don’t get a bad match stuff or looking at the tier lists. Sagat players don’t need to look at the tier list ever.
Even with Sagat being cream of the crop and most used in Japan there’s still way more diversity as far as characters played in SFIV there. Japan has a prime environment for a player to get good with any character just because that’s the character they wanna use. Especially on top of how close the majority of the matchups are in general.
I think people are sleeping on RF…
tho to be fair, I think that an unexpected team is gonna end up doing really well, getting top 4 that nobody expected. That’s just the kinda thing that happens at these tournies.
And Sagat is last week’s news, its all about Akuma in Japan…

If the winners aren’t Ojisan Boy/Tokido, they’ll be some other team with a top Sagat or a top Akuma. Momochi and Eita’s team are also good candidates.
Just going ahead with Ojisan and Tokido because they have a solid team of top-tiers, they’re top BP earners, and the winners of SBO are never who you’d like them to be/think they will be.
I doubt Daigo will make it to the finals. I was going to put Uryo for top 8 but I think Uzemono is kind of dead weight, and you really can’t have dead weight at SBO.

There’s a multi-quote spree to go on with all these posts in this thread, but I’m just gonna highlight this one.
Everyone’s picks are just daigo/mago/iyo’s teams, for winning. Look what happens, the team NO ONE expects, wins.
Weren’t bad picks to win, Daigo/Mago/Iyo’s teams all made it to the top 8, and Iyo’s team came very close to winning.
But yeah, it was Team KOF’s time to shine. Also, Makoto is my hero.
Picking the big names to win is just smart. Like any sport people will pick the big names to go all the way. In basketball LA/Boston, in baseball NNY/Boston etc. Does that mean they’ll win it all no but they do have the best shot at winning it. That’s why we have the word upset.
