If you’re unaware, the first 3 I listed have decals based on some famous players from Japan. 2 of the three are for $170. The last 2 links are a generic layout, but go for $199 (I think still cheaper than buying/shipping from Eight Arc though).
Ric, I’m flattered that I make you want to quit playing SFxT (Do I get some sort of achievement for this?) and by all means, do so if you wish.
The reason why I kicked your ass last night is most likely due to the fact that I’ve put time into the game. I’ve been playing a lot of extended sets with Dustin whenever I’ve had the chance to play. I can see that since you put time into HDR that a majority of the gameplay would be similar SFIV, hence a more natural transition. This game is different. There are so many new mechanics in this game that you need to put in the time.
However, if you decide to change your mind, I’m more than happy to play some extended sets with you, all you need to do is ask/message when I’m on (granted I’m not playing someone else at the moment).
haha, I haven’t even played it yet.
But I don’t think I really ever will. At least for a while. Maaaaybe used. I’m really not a fan of all the DLC (especially the gems).
Also, good luck getting together today.
Ric: You didn’t become “the best” locally at SF4 overnight. You complained about how that game wasn’t as good as HDR for many months, and how you were so good in HDR but couldn’t win in 4. You definately took your lumps before you got decent, you just forgot because it was a couple years ago. But you did it, because you didn’t care that you were losing, and you knew that you get better by playing sets with better opponents.
Now all of a sudden, you shouldn’t lose in a game to someone who’s put more time and effort into it apparently. This makes no sense. You have all the resources available to become good at a game (good online, actual local/regional comp) and prove everyone wrong that said you were only good because of Fei. Also, you being the guy who was complaining because no local comp was on your level and playing them was a waste of time. Now that you have something to learn and gain from playing locals, you don’t want to.
Basically, you shouldn’t expect to enjoy ANY future fighters if you can’t take losing in casuals in order to get better. I just see an opportunity for you to back up all the talk you’ve done over the years, in a situation where all of your excuses from before are gone. You scared.
Hahaha this is delicious. I thought you could come out and hang with top players? Man, this shit is scrubby as fuck. This thread used to be hilarious, now after reading the last few pages it’s just plain sad. Come on dude, if you had any skill in fighters, then step the fuck up and accept the challenge. No one gets by on raw talent alone. It takes a ton of hard work and dedication to get good at fighting games. Real fighters, not scrubby shit like being good at mashing with Fei in SFIV. So now that the locals are stomping your shit into the ground you think the game is not worth your time, or is a bad game? Come one man, that shit is tired. I thought you were so jealous of the East for having a strong scene, with that mentality you probably would have quit SFIV too, since they have large pools of actual good players.
The last few pages have been you exposing yourself as a scrub and a fraud. If you had skill at fighters then you should be able to adapt, and learn a new game. Since that is what fighters are all about; adapting. And, realize that it takes more than 1 week to understand a game and what all the characters strengths are and ones who suit your playstyle.
And damn, I love how you are saying Vega is so good, no doubt to down play Jozhear beasting later on. If he’s so good play him, if not shut the fuck up and do something about it.
I know you won’t have the balls to respond to this, and will just sweep it under the rug everytime you get exposed for being a terrible human being. I know you’ll read this however, so in closing, stay free.
I guess I need to put things into perspective. This isn’t sf4 or close to the games I’m used to. I suppose it will take to improve and climb the ranks…this game is completely new. Chao let’s get in longer sets, I wanna improve in this game and be the best.
Shane I was damn good in HDR, if we could play it you would see for yourself. I’ll try to improve in sfxt by fighting chao and more guys locally. I want to be able to beat other provinces like ab similar to how I did in sf4 so I will need to massively level up in this game.
I had nothing but quality opponents online. Snake eyes, thelo, dgv, fatbpy srk and so on and so forth. I was considered one of the top fei players online.
About 5 of us showed up to play today. Thought it was the perfect opportunity to try out scramble mode so we ended playing that for the past few hours. After playing all that scramble mode though, not too sure if I remember how to play regular mode now, haha. Possibility of a getting together again next week, play some actual matches this time around.
I want to post these gatherings in the saskgamers site but I wasn’t sure if it was just a 1 time thing or if there are plans to make it a typical thing. Either way if you guys do have gatherings be sure to include the info on here and that saskgamers site, or I guess I could just cut and paste the info and post it on there.
Edit: Hey chao are you down for some games, im gonna be leaving here real quick but I can get in a few if your online?
Scramble mode leaves me not sure what to expect next time I go to play the regular game. Was fun though.
Ric: The saskgamers fighting game forum looks a little…uh, sparse…I guess? Kind of abandoned
Yeah its pretty inactive for the time being. There is a lot of lurkers on that site and many of them have no clue about this site or that there is any gatherings happening. I should probably post a link to this thread on there I think and try to get some buzz going.
Mitch: I think you guys should try to run a mini-tournament next week, maybe something like 2$ to enter. I advertised this thread on the saskgamers thread so maybe some more players will turn out next time.
The community being split just further reinforces the notion we have no community. That was the impression I was under till I posted on here yesterday. Posting a link over there isn’t a bad idea at all.
The community has just been inactive for the most part. Dustin used to host for about year and a half after SF4 got released but interest sort of dialed down once everyone got sick of SF4. I think the scene will be different now though, we have MVC3,KOF13,MK9,SF4 and SFXT to chose from so there is plenty of diversity this time around.
I think it also depends on what the intention is going behind the gatherings. Is it just going to be a fun social event to play games or a legitimate competitive community with the intention of improving. I dont see both of those motives being mutually exclusive and I think with some proper organization and planning, the saskatoon community can start to grow again.
The regina guys have been active for years with a very solid base of good players. It would be pretty cool if we could all occasionally meet up and host tournaments together. Between the saskatoon and regina guys, we have over 10 players that are dedicated and determined so hopefully these new gatherings continue to improve each week.
Edit: This isnt even including potential new players from saskgamers either, but hopefully with enough community activity on this thread some of those guys will feel inclined to show up and participate.
Crap, just got a job with Cabela’s and training started today just got the message now when I got home. Hope you guys had fun, hopefully I’ll join in one of these days.
Thanks for the link to Canadian Joysticks. I think once I get my first paycheque from this job I’m going to be ordering one. I’m at the breaking point using a 360 pad now, and I just can’t do it anymore.
