drumlinejoe, lately cammy has proven to be among the meanest point characters in the game, and her AAA is very useful. the only thing she lacks is the ability to fly. in any case, i don’t actually believe in “tiers” quite the same as everyone else. i believe that the only reason some characters are considered to be so far and above everyone else is because their abilities are new, and there are new tactics that can be used with them that people have hardly seen before. magneto and storm have speed and great combos now, and people are just not used to dealing with that. rogue is a powerhouse in many places right now, because of her “triangle assault” game. (but not so much as magneto and storm, because that is the only new tactic that people have to fear, coming from rogue) sentinal is new, and totally different than any character before in some ways. when people first played well with him, he was nearly invincible, but they soon found ways to beat him. becoming more and more common, he becomes easier and easier to beat. remember when very, very few people could beat a good Cable user? AHVB x 3 seemed to be the move that would nobody would ever beat. now most people can beat the crap out of those weaklings. the point is that currently, cammy is in the top tier, though she won’t be there quite as long as the other top four, because she is not completely new and different, like Cable and Sentinal, and her game has not changed drastically, like magneto and storm.
first of all i always appreciate advice, and want to thank you for offering it. keep it coming, i always want to improve my game. but, as for my strider/doom/blackheart team,i start it out in different patterns, depending on my opponent’s choices and my mood at the time. you are right, sometimes blackheart as a battery is good for the match, but sometimes i just want to control the match from the very, VERY start, and that can be difficult with blackheart at times, but always very very easy with strider. other times, i will start out chipping with doom. no set pattern, i can flow between tactics, whatever works best for me at the moment, or more precisely, whatever is worst for my opponent at the moment. also, because blackheart’s supers have slow start-up time, it’s difficult to DHC him out if he gets in trouble. and quite frankly, some characters he should not be on point against. anyway, the order i listed them in is not rigid. “kokoro is not a rigid mental attitude, it is whatever attitude you need to win.” -f j lovret
yeah, i’ve heard of that. (reference to wolv/sent/wolv) and by no means does wolverine suck, not at all. like most characters, he can be pure evil with the proper assists and tactics. HOWEVER, he was at his best in MvC1, and i really don’t think they should have toned him down. anyway, most of my complaints on him are meta-game. (wolverine is the only comic i have ever seriously collected, one of my all-time fav fictional characters, so i am a bit biased here)
felicia is under-rated. she is a great rushdown character with strong mix-up, and can cancel her normals and specials into supers VERY easily. anyway, i like her because she plays much closer to wolverine in MvC1, and lets face it, she’s freaking hot. agreed, she will never be more than middle-tier, has a hard time against certain characters, and dies against MZ without super meter to burn. and while she doesn’t have major priority, she is hard to punish afterwards, if you can just get the offense started to begin with.
yeah, gambit and cyke work well together. actually, his AAA is great for pretty much everyone. the only time i would pick someone else’s AAA is, for example if i want Ken’s invincibility, capcom’s <width>range and damage, or blackheart’s tracking ability. as for gambit’s launcher, it has great priority, but he’s f*cked if you can make it whiff. (which is still difficult to do, i agree) but yes, they go great together, too bad for cyke that gambit isn’t gay. if you’re fast with cyke on point, you can have a killer mix-up with gambit’s projectile assist. i also like making them block gambit’s projectile and command-throwing them with cyke. just don’t hesitate! if they don’t block but get hit, they don’t recover quick enough to punish cyke from his whiffed throw anyway. probably works well with his real girlfriend rogue, also, using her kiss. don’t know for sure, i don’t use her much anymore.
again, thanks for the advice, keep it coming.
