Yes, CH let you do combos that aren’t normally possible because of it. …They do a little extra damage, too.
I have trouble doing j.hk->c.hp->EX-tatsu->forward dash->ultra, so I tend to j.hk->c.hp->EX-tatsu->ultra because it’s much easier to land. I wait until the opponent just starts to descend in the air and I’ll land it 90% of the time. What I’m concerned with is, while it’s easier to land this way, I miss out on a few of the spin kicks of her ultra (only the last spin hits, then her cut-scene launch and stomp). Does anyone know if the j.hk->c.hp->tatsu->ultra does more damage than j.hk->c.hp->tatsu->otoshi?
Ok, so I just Tested it out for you in Training Mode.
Trained on Ryu.
j.HK -> c.HP xx EX Shunpukyaku, Haru Ranman; 9 Hit Combo, 492 Damage.
j.HK -> c.HP xx EX Shunpukyaku, Sakura Otoshi; 8 Hit Combo, 384 Damage.
You want to see how much for doing Dash to Ultra?
j.HK -> c.HP xx EX Shunpukyaku, Dash, Haru Ranman; 10 Hit Combo, 537 Damage.
Thank you sir! Hopefully I can get the dash->ultra down, but for now that’s still pretty solid damage.
one thing i found i like doing now is doing pretty much anyway to get into the ex tatsu but just do the hard one and if the block the whole thing or if the eat it all after the hard tatsu i will throw a crouching medium kick which will catch certain people, follow that into a haduoken which will catch certain people and then do a light srk which usually catches the rest lol. after the hard tatsu people usually thing the can come in so u catch them but if they block they think after the hadouken they can come in but then your in there face with the l. srk. try it out see what u think.

The HP shouken is a decent follow up to a connected EX tatsu. I went into practice mode and did some experimenting.
EX tatsu >> otoshi : 275 damage, 450 stun
EX tatsu >> HP shouken (dashed) : 250 damage, 340 stun
However, an HP shouken done without dash first is garbage.
EX tatsu >> HP shouken (un-dashed) : 185 damage, 320 stun
The trick is to do
:r: :dp: :hp:
when the tatsu launches. The timing seems pretty consistent once you get the hang of it and seems to land on everyone.
Why do this instead of otoshi? A couple of reasons:
- the otoshi done near the edge of the screen lands you deep in the corner, the HP shouken does not
- the otoshi’s three hits are damage scaled so it becomes less better than the HP shouken the longer the combo into the EX tatsu
example:
Jump HP, st. HP xx LK tatsu, st. LK xx EX tatsu >> otoshi : 416 damage, 675 stun
same combo >> shouken: 408 damage, 625 stun - you can safely attempt an ambiguous cross up on people who quick get up (they usually do) and possibly safe jump HP on some characters
- this is subjective, but the otoshi seems iffy to land on some characters like Honda and Guile
Anyway, I’ve been using this and it seems better for keeping the pressure up than otoshi because you land faster. Thought I’d just put it out there for any other Sakura players.

Sometimes I’ll try to throw that out for the hell of it and the only time I can nail it is during laggy games. 4-5 bars? forget about it. 2-3 bars? Holy shit!

Please correct me if someone has already made a Sakura , all encompassing, combo list. I know on this thread everything is incredibly scattered.
I have been maining Blanka and play a little Sakura, but so far if you look at the Blanka Combo thread, it has got to be the most well laid out, thought out, and complete list of combos. I don’t mind making one if you guys are willing to help. Just send me your combo’s of choice. I will put them together in a color coded easy to read list, broken down into cross-ups, non-cross up (or standing combos), and combos to follow FA crumples.
I will list the damage for each combo, and do my best to notate character specific combos. Again if this already exists on a different thread, please just tell me (not flame me) as I’m only trying to help.

St.Hp DP+LK, PPP works on standing sagat. Not rly worth the dmg but it looks cool.
The c.mk -> light hurricane -> s.lk -> ex hurricane. The timing on this is weird. Anyone has any tips on how to connect this?
as with all the light hurricane links I personally just wait an extra bit from when my insticts tell me to hit the LK. It’s hard to explain, but hold out a little more before you hit it.
Ok. I will get started on it today. It may be a day or two before i have a list to start a thread with. In the meantime I will probably upload it to a different url as to not clutter up SRK’s boards.
When I have enough up to actually show you what kind of template I’m going to use to organize this I will post a URL. Once finalized, I will probably list it on a fresh thread unless anyone objects. Once I have a list “started” please feel free to help by PM’ing me combos you’d like to see posted or ones I may miss. Hopefully Monday we will have something less scattered.

Which is harder for you to land though?(to the people of this thread as well)

How come some people after the ex hurricane, use j.hk(rh) instead of otoshi?
