Sagats changes in AE-2012

All Sagat needs imo is a better TK. 1 frame less recovery and move over 20 damage. 20 less on first hit and 20 more on second for all tks.

I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to a Tk buff. I figure that if we have to work to space it perfectly we could at least have a greater reward for it. Also because there are a lot of options against it (e.g. shoto crouching forward or slides). I think most of his specials are pretty balanced Although i’m still sad about low tiger shot slowness =/

My christmas list:
+1 on crouching jab
hitbox on low forward / st. lk extends to the actual foot. or 6 frame forward pleeease? =/
extend close roundhouse intial hitbox a little lower so it can hit more crouching opponents

i don’t know if this is just me but i’m having a hard time dealing with a lot of sliding moves.
Rose’s slide, Guy’s slide, dhalsim’s slide etc. That being said, I think a st lk. tweak would help a lot in that area.
increase hurt/hitbox would be a very welcome addition. as a result, sagat can potentially keep out sliders while not having a cancelable move to completely fuck over them.

If someone slides at you uppercut them on reaction. It’s really not that hard. Or low short xx low shot.

Sagat is extremely reactionary.

You can’t give Sagat anything that will affect his close - mid game as a buff, it has potential to blow up some match ups and clearly Capcom are trying to sway away from stacked match ups.

Emblems on the right track I think. He needs to deal more damage somewhere if your going to add a buff.

After seeing the nerfs, I don’t think he needs anything, but that’s just my own twisted opinion.

I’m not sure if reacting to a 7/8 frame move is practical at least for me =/ especially considering against chars like guy who can do 300 dmg off of a punish its’ pretty scary.

S.LK is the main buff they should have given sagat i was playin vanilla the other night for the first time since super came out. And sagat is so much more fun and can footsie better buffing his tiger knee damage would be aite but i wud prefer his tu damage get buffed because ppl arent really scared of his dp unless he has a.s or ultra meter to punish. plus they are forced to respect his fireball game more. i gotta say sagat was just too good in vanilla after using him again. his tiger knee recovery and fireball recover was fukn too godlike lols

I really don’t care about st.lk…Like at all. It just doesn’t make sense for him to be able to push people out so easily. Nerfing that shit was the best thing that happened to me as a Sagat player.

you do realize i like using the twins? you know how much i’ll hate sagat for making that match up worse then 6-4? I say it’s gonna be 65-35 sagat adv or worse.

its not easy you still whiffed punished. theres one sweet spot no matter what sagat does he gets blown up in the footsies side of things. smk is great and tbh i use it alot to high effectiveness but theres a certain section it doesnt cover. how is it that asking for it to not be 2 hits relying on the character? dunno if your implying something of a wise crack nature to me or something, but tiger knee damage buff would actually mean you do less work to kill someone, that would also mean you wanna rely on your characters abilities as well… isn’t that what buffs are we want our characters ability to help us win more or improve our weak areas. I just want sagat to be a bit more all rounded. increase dp damage is more important then tiger knee damage. anyways everybody has their own views and ppl have different playstyles which makes them want different attributes to their character so guess thats why we disagree on a few things

I only wanted a few changes to Sagat, but it’s not going to bother me that he didn’t get them, still a ton of fun to play as Sagat.

The first change was what EL already mentioned, the reversed damage to his knee(s) would go such a long way. It would add up in the match!

The Second changed I wanted was making his U2 connect every hit off of a combo, even if the damage wasn’t amazing(with all the hits) it’s just cool to see every hit being delivered instead of some shitty ass 4/5 hits and the fireball goes through the guy.

St.lk would have been great because it won’t let you get as bodied/bullied in the corner, but it’s okay they didn’t put it back.

My two cents.

I like the idea of more damage on 2nd hit of tiger knee and every hit of u2 hitting. St.lk cancel would be great but might be too much for some matchups with kara tu and tk to keep people out already.

wow the whining on this forum is hilarious. almost every bad matchup for sagat results in those characters getting nerfed and you all still bitch about everything.

Well space Tiger knee is -2 in AE on block, what do you guys do after that? backdash?
Should they buff it to like 0?

I think a character should be given the tools to overcome weaknesses of theirs, so I would like fst.LK cancel back. I don’t think it’s unreasonable so long as they don’t change anything else with Sagat. I think he’d have everything he needs with that. But otherwise yeah…I don’t think Sagat really needs anything at this point. Maybe an extra frame on LK TK if spaced perfectly or give cr.LP an extra frame on hit so it’s not a 1f link anymore.

A well spaced Tiger Knee is not -2 on block. Closer to 0 or -1. “Perfectly” spaced is +1 LK / 0 MK (I think this is what I was told by emblem.) Actually I think EX TK is basically unchanged since Vanilla, so it’s probably like +3 or 4 on block…can’t remember.

sagat is a great character and you all don’t need anything. look at freaking dudley, he has 800 special moves and all but like 2 of them are completely useless

I think now in ae it is +2 for lk and +1 for MK for a perfectly spaced TK

ultra1 fix in corner,really i kinda dun use ultra when i feel it will corner opponent and will not do full damage and also,need TU to Armor Break without AS…faster startup of TK?a cancleable far lk will be too much,it sometimes even stops fei;s rekas and alot of opponent’s pokes as well.

Sagat’s not getting anymore as predicted. I’m fine with that.
